Is it just me, or is Peanut...
Getting better at his comics ;D You think Grape might be giving him some pointers, or is he starting to learn about plotlines?
By the by, I think it would be funny if Joey decided to start charging Peanut for professional-looking comics ;P But we don't want Peanut to lose his independence, do we?

...or it might be that Rick's not as consistent at drawing bad as he's at drawing good.

Re: Is it just me, or is Peanut...
He's probably trying to keep Peanut in character by drawing the comics, as if Peanut drew them himself.

Re: Is it just me, or is Peanut...
Well he has been making lots of them.
I don't really see Peanut's comics as "bad," per se (drawing aside). I like to think that Peanut knows they're parody and not just Rick.

Re: Is it just me, or is Peanut...
Bleh, I meant from the perspective of the Housepets! world. Coming from the perspective of a potential reader of Spot in Babylon Gardens, would you interpret Peanut as writing the comic seriously, just having fun, a bit of both., etc.?
Personally, looking at his writing from start to finish, I think Peanut has gotten progressively better. His stories are becoming more interesting, and his drawing has become more animated.
Let's just pretend Rick had nothing to do with it, since we already know he's a good webcomic writer; is Peanut a better comic book writer than he used to be?

Re: Is it just me, or is Peanut...
Well I said that they were. He's had practice. And I think he is having fun with them. I think that while part of the point of making Spot (superdog) is a power fantasy, Peanut is also intentionally parodying comic book tropes. Considering the ridiculous rate at which he can read books, I'm sure he's familiar enough with literature to not actually be making the writing pitfalls Rick is parodying.

If Peanut improves his art he may overtake Rick!

Re: Is it just me, or is Peanut...
Rick could deliberately make Housepets! stagnate while making Peanut's comics gradually better until they're better than the comic in which the comics exist. Now that would be pretty avant-garde.

Re: Is it just me, or is Peanut...
Only problem is that rick created peanut, so if peanut got better than rick he might get mad and ake peanut's hands away for a few panels (just enough that rick is still better than peanut)

See, such an event is compareable to dividing by the number zero.

Re: Is it just me, or is Peanut...
I could've sworn that Rick has already said something about this. I think he said that he did the better style on purpose to show Peanut's growth as an artist or something. Does anyone else remember that or am I just crazy? If I'm wrong I am sorry for putting words into Mr Rick's mouth.

It's hard to draw that poorly on purpose.

I am good at drawing badly on purpose....... if I try really hard o3o
Most of the time I just get angry and crumple the paper and throw it away if it isn't perfect.

Re: Is it just me, or is Peanut...
As I've been reading through them over the past few days I realized that a few of the comics were about peanut discussing his story anxiety and his personal problems with his art. Yeas it seems to me that he's getting better but at the same time I don't believe it's really an intention of Rick's to overlay the two branching situations. I draw a lot, whether it's good or not is up to who's looking, but the problems peanut is facing as he grows as an artist embody the problems almost every artist goes through. Doubtless, but still under speculation and heresay on my part, Rick probably uses the small intermediate depictions to express his anxiety in the same situation.
While the artististic style never really changes, the plot elements do, showing initial growth through the aid of his best friend Grape. I doubt it will ever grow beyond a simple expression of Peanut's love of drawing comics. I believe the drawings are meant to be simple.
And I will note, and I mean this in a non reproachful way, that just because you read a lot of literature doesn't mean you can learn how to write a really good story.
