 Age?
Could you please tell how old are all those pets in this comic? The only thing I know is that Fido is older than Bino and Joey is younger than Bino.

All we can do is speculate, unless Rick comes in and reveals it. We can voice our opinions if we want.

 Re: Age?
Peanut is between four and five and Grape is younger than he is. None of the other pets have their age stated outright.
Also, in the last year and a half, none of them has ever had a birthday, Rick.

 Re: Age?
Actually we don't know that; they're brothers, but puppies often come in litters in reality, the same may or may not apply in the Housepets universe. Presuming that character aging does indeed apply... We do know that Fido was stated (By Bino) to have won the pet games three years running and that was more than a year ago (since it predated the prior Christmas story). In addition, Fido was probably near-adult – perhaps three – before he started winning. Ergo, minimum of seven, likely to be eight or nine. He could be older, since he may have played in the pet park games before winning or he could have lost one or more times before his latest streak. Bino’s probably of similar age, or he probably wouldn’t be a co-founder of the Good Ol Dogs Club. Grapes age is discussed in her Dossier, what evidence there is suggests a current upper limit of four or five. Peanut was stated to be under five on the cast page, but that doesn't say how much under five - and the cast page dates back awhile. Most likely going on six by now. Rufus seems to show some indications of age, and mentions events that seem to span a number of years; I'd guess that he was fairly old. Fox shows behavioral evidence of maturity, but that kind of inference is inherently vague. I’d still guess at a minimum of seven or eight though. King was apparently in his mid-to-late 20's as Joel, his effective age as King has yet to be revealed. I'd hope fairly young. Making him a mid-to-late 20's dog would be rather cruel. Joey appears younger and smaller than Bino and Fido, and shows behavioral evidence of that as well. He could, however, simply be the runt of the litter. Simply based on “Dating Behaviorâ€, most of the rest are adolescent at a minimum. Maxwell strikes me as likely to be a bit older than that - but that’s simply an impression. Other than that, there isn’t much evidence in the comic.

Are you saying that Peanut is just 30-40 dog years old?

 Re: Age?
Should probably note that this is Housepets! dog years, since dog years in general are a whole lot longer and in Housepets! animals live about twice as long as they do in reality.

 Re: Age?
The "Multiply by Seven" rule for "Dog Years" doesn't really work in the Housepets universe.
First up, according to Rick, the pets lifespans are roughly double those that can be expected for real-world pets. That would give us a rule of "Multiply by 3.5" to start with.
More importantly, canine life expectancies vary with the breed; the real-world average is about twelve to thirteen years - the mid-20's in the housepets universe (thus the note about how it would be rather cruel if Pete had turned Joel into a dog of that age; "hey, now that you've had your shots, you're probably going to be dead of old age in the next few months").
In reality, larger breeds tend to be shorter-lived, with some breeds having a life expectancy of as low as six years. Some smaller breeds have average life expectancies of up to fifteen years and that is - of course - the average. Individuals have been known to live a great deal longer, just as humans have an average life expectancy of around seventy, but individuals sometimes survive to well over a hundred.
The maturation curve also differs considerably. Real-world dogs are generally essentially mature at one year, and can be expected to remain in good condition for a sizeable portion of their lives.
In the Housepets universe, observation suggests that pets reach "adolescence" around ages three to four, and probably reach full physical maturity around age seven - at which point police dog academy (and presumably some similar institutions) are an option. That would place Peanut - with a probable age of around six - as the equivalent of a teenager. While that conclusion is the end of a chain of inferences, and thus could easily be quite wrong, events in the comic do seem to support it.

Peanut and Grape are roughly pre-teens. Maybe Teenagers.

 Re: Age?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're in the early-teenage phase. I think most of the pets we've seen so far are roughly the same.
Also, Bino, Fido, and Joey are litter-mates, so they're all the same age. Joey is the 'runt' of his litter.

 Re: Age?
Since this is an age related question I felt it should go here, even if this thread is old.
So we know that cats and dogs live around twice as long, but what about other animals? How long would a mouse or a squirrel live? Or even a bird?

 Re: Age?
Rick cited some study saying that a mammal's lifespan is proportionate to the distance between its head and the ground, so Peanut and Grape are going to live significantly longer than a squirrel would
also Spo is going to die soon

Okay guys I should probably say this outright? I'm running this on comic book time. So yes they have ages but it basically stays about the same.

 Re: Age?
So sliding time line it is then. I thought so. I guess this makes the time line I was working on (I do them for fun) pointless until the comic is over then. Edit: fixed up awkward wording

 Re: Age?
I will have to go against all of those except for rocks, if an animal is immortal and lives forever, what would happen if the walls/roof caves in while digging tunnels, will it ever get out? Or would it have to wait a few eternities. I have always wondered that due to my wandering thoughts and claustrophobia (Fear of tight spaces).
