Considering everything... I would go for beying a Dog... He dosnt realy have a good account with anyone in his human form and has some REAL friends as a dog... Plus he's the cutest thing ever XDDDD But in all seriousnes... I would leave behind my life as a human in his place because the "Animals" as he calls them proved time and time again that they are more trust-wothy and loyal friends... Besides... Not having to worry about serious problems kicks bubblegum XDD

I would stay king if I was him. He finally has friends now, he finally has most of his problems fixed, why make a whole set of new ones? If my life was that screwed up as a human, and within a very short amount of time being a dog I gained a close friend, and later on a nice home to live in....

If I were in King's position, I would stay a dog. With the physics of the Housepets! universe, I could be a anthropomorphic talking dog forever and apparently, "dog heaven" is easier to get into. If I'm following things right.

I think, since my best friend is a dog, stay a dog. Though then again, King is technically lying to Fox about the fact he IS the man who helped kidnapped him. Personally, my opinion would be based on telling Fox the truth, and seeing his reaction, whether to stay a dog or not.

You know, I was GOING to revive this thread, but someone beat me to it.

My question was not what would you do as Joel turned into King or what do you think Joel/King should do. My question was (and is) What if YOU were turned into King by Pete and had everything that happened to King happen, what would YOU (as King) do and how would you feel about your situation and the people involved.

I would do the Five Stages of Grief...

1º Denial: "This can't be happening, not to me."

2º Anger: "Why me? It's not fair!"

3º Bargaining: "I'll do anything to be Human back."

4º Depression: "I miss bng a human, why go on?"

5º Acceptance: "I can't fight it, I may as well prepare for be a Dog."

Depending of in what world you became a dog like King, it would by far change our opinion...

In any way. To Hide Inside and shelter would be the most secure thing to do.

And to wait to sort our my mind, would give us time, to think into the important points like what world are we, House Pets or the real world. If in real world, how could we avoid suffering a vivisection if we were anthros? If were not, how does we avoid being killed in the kennel? It would prevent us from making some basic mistakes...

First of all, I would want to become human again

I would have been furious at Pete, even more so than King, since I rather like my life as a human. After I had calmed down I suppose there is not much you can do other than try to plea a case to Pete to release me (which would inevitably fail, of course). Once I discovered this game these supernatural beings (I'll call them "Deities") were playing I would attempt to play off the Deities against each other (if that were possible, obviously Pete needs King for something, what better way to get him to release me than helping those he rivals against, unless his rivals offered it to me first) in order for them to offer me my life back. Then there is the Watch, like King, I wouldn't know what to do with it. "Accept life as a Dog or as a Human"? How do you know when you "accept" something like this?

As for Fox, it would be strangely difficult to throw away a friendship like that but it would have been for the best, I think. I was not meant to be a Dog, and it would be far easier for me to leave than trying to explain that a Deity popped up one day and transformed me into a Dog and dropping me into Babylon Gardens. He would think I was insane, and there is only so many lies you can create before the whole elaborate story comes crashing down on top of you.

If i were him, i would never want to give up my birth-right. Some people would claim to hate it, but being born the way you are is what gives you your charm in life. noone else can be you. someone is bound to like it.

Not only that, but i always felt your parents would deeply be ashamed if you wanted to be entirely something non-human out of nowhere without at least giving them a good reason. to be a pet just because life sucks is a bad excuse. there are many other ways for him to be a pet and not make it look like a free ticket to paradise.

I'd stay a dog. Why go back to being human? He'll either end up in prison, or end up in the funny farm.

I would stay as a dog. Only thing I would wish for is that I could have a human life span. apart from that it is completely perfect!

In King's situation, I'd probably stay a dog. I don't know what I'd do with my background circumstances, however.

If i were in King's position i'd stay a dog, because his life obviously sucked before. If it were me, personally i'd stay human because my life is just beginning.

If I answered this question during any other arc I would have a definite answer. Struggling with an attraction to a different species is weird and I don't know how I would handle it. His human life sucks so and King is aware of that. In that position I would say stay a dog. However, Being physically attracted to Bailey would freak me out. I would possibly want to go human before I go beyond the point of no return.

Despite the fact that I'd be the most adorable thing on two paws, I'd want to change back. The concept of forced transformation bugs me a lot, I actually lost interest in Housepets for awhile at the end of the Christmas arc where Pete said he wouldn't change King back. People seem to make a lot of assumptions here, I'm a huge King fan myself so I see the appeal of him staying a dog but...

Think about it objectively for a second. Yeah, he had a bad childhood and was abused by his own pets, and had spent some time in jail already so he was obviously not "a paragon" of society. That doesn't mean he had no friends. That doesn't mean he necessarily had a bad relationship with his family (though you could argue either way... just because they were mean to the pets doesn't mean they were mean to Joel too, and we don't know if he has any siblings either). Imagine losing everything, your humanity, your friends and family, and for quite a stint of time there, having your own name ripped away from you... remembering that you weren't always a dog named King but being unable to remember quite who you were before. Even away from Pete... he doesn't even have a "Mom and Dad" so he has no one to care for him like a real owner would care for their pet. He has to rely on his friends' owners or the ferrets to be able to do anything outside the street he lives on (All The Kings' Men showed that it takes him a lot of effort just to visit Fox!). Even if he did have a normal, caring owner that would just be weirdly creepy for them to think of you as their son while you are unable to contact your real parents and siblings. And Fox is his only real friend, he's a complete outsider, Bino is mean to him all the time, he's scared to death of Fido and all the other K9s... I really wish he had at least been shown to have met and made friends with Peanut, who is the sweetest dog on the block (except maybe Sasha).

I'm probably overthinking this but we all seem to fall into this trap of "he's the most adorable dog ever" and "he should always be friends with Fox" therefore he should stay a dog. If he does change back, especially if he doesn't tell Fox the truth beforehand, it's going to be a very sad day. But to me, it would be worse to stay a dog, even if only because of losing my family. I wouldn't be happy seeing him stay a dog forever unless more backstory comes out and shows conclusively that he has absolutely nothing to go back to if he became human again.

What I really would need to know before making any final decisions were the rules that he has to follow. Those cosmic nerds are tricky. We know that he is able to tell the pets who he is now. He could use this to apologize to Fox (and anyone else of importance) and then return to his human life as a changed man. He still has to deal with his criminal charges. Unless of course the cosmic nerds can change this. There are too many variables to give a complete answer. We know that Joel was a human with no "furry" characteristics that I am sure most of the readers are aware of. This sudden attraction is alarming and right now he is trying to rationalize it as chemical reactions. He still wants to be human. I would say that life is much better for him as a dog but the only thing that really makes it better is Fox. He could still be friends with Fox after the transformation so I think it is in his best interest to turn human.
