A Quick Debate-able question for "Yall" What would happen if Housepets! was turned into a Television Series on Cartoon Network or whatever? The Show would have the same Rick Griffin drawing style, and they'd hire him to assist in making the animations. Any comments? (Mini debate, should it be a TV show or just like an hour movie special?)

Rick would make a bunch of money and Spo would be voiced by James Earl Jones

There would be an entirely new network: FurTV, the Furry network! Housepets! would be it's greatest program.

I could see it being a TV series (it could be like a PG animated Sitcom) but I could also see it working out as multiple TV Movies instead of just one.

I still can only picture their voicing in Japanese, but it would be great for Rick and us. I would love it if they made a FurTV yet also a little awkward and dangerous.

I would much prefer it being a comic because it still leaves something for the imagination

Dissension would also get his first big break into voice acting.

I think a movie of some kind might work better than an animated series. But I think that might be pretty far off still. I'd imagine it wouldn't happen unless someone approached Rick with a proposition of some kind, since a movie is no small task or expense.

I would honestly start with short TV skits first, then try for more afterwards. sorta like rocky and bullwinkle or wacky races.

I can see Housepets! being compatible with a three shorts-format show. Will it happen? No, unless suddenly this comic somehow explodes in popularity and Rick isn't completely opposed to such an idea, but I think it would work. The main issue would be that none of the readers would be happy with the characters' voices.

I actually worry about this a lot when it comes to the Housepets Radio Show. But like I said before, if they spoke Japanese, it would not matter about their voices, they all would sound awesome anyways.

Hopefully it won't end up like the failed geico caveman sitcom.

Of course. These are all good points. I'd imagine it kinda Anime style, but who knows, its a possibility. Comic book first, then radio and tv/movies.

If that were ever done, i'd like to see it be done with cell shading(like futurama is ), drawing manually would take far too long and cause frames not to be identical/shaky/old-school etc

I can picture it as being British or Japanese, possibly American depending on whether it would be considered a kids show or a comedy. (Or both!)

Yes, in America cartoons tend to be of two varieties: child friendly and unappealing to 99% of adults, and absolutely filthy so adults don't feel childish for watching them. There are occasional exceptions, but they're still branded as "kid's shows" that just happen to have a wider fanbase. I can see Housepets! as one of those.
