Housepets! live action play/musical

I thought of a live action musical/play for Housepets; basically, it's like the 101 Dalmatians and Lion King Musical where the actors, instead of wearing fursuits, wear cleverly chosen clothing that represents the characters they're playing; for example, the actor playing Fox would wear a Grey jacket or sweater and a neckerchief. Also, to give the actors playing the pets a more "pet like" experience, the actors playing the humans would wear stilts to make it seem like the humans are still taller just as the actors did for the 101 Dalmatians musical.

What actors do you think should play the cast?

I can see a foundation for the idea, I mean Peanut and Grape clearly can dance.

I support anything that can destroy the minds of people

Bino's outfit would be a suit and tie to give him a slimy creep look

Rex’s outfit would be leather vest

Even though I'm not technically a moderator in this forum, I'm inclined to recommend getting back on topic.

Yeah, I'm surprised how bad people are taking this. I think the problem is that they don't realise it's a hypothetical. With all the member-contributed projects flying around nowadays, you might want to make clear that you're not intending to put this show on yourself, but just to talk about the idea of it out of interest. Personally, as a Drama student, I think it's quite an interesting idea. I don't have the time to think about actors that might fit the parts right now, but later I'm sure I will ^_^

Everyone else; cool down. Seriously, check out the Voice Acting thread. That's got people suggesting Michael J Fox voice some of the characters. You really think that'll happen either?

Yay! Lets happily continue to bash this idea to bits.

Don't get me wrong, I personally don't like the idea, but... hasn't NO I HATE THIS been said enough already?

I mean, from what I've seen it's like "THIS weird over the top idea is just fine but THIS weird over the top idea is unacceptable, while THIS weird over the top idea..." and so on.

Personally I think that all this stuff is weird and over the top, but why are people inclined to totally accept one and completely reject another when they're not that far apart on the weird scale?

The idea is really amusing, but I don't think most of the comic would be suited to this. Most of the Disney musicals and plays pick and use the animated films that already have songs and elements of drama. Housepets is primarily humor based, with King's arcs and the occasional thing between Peanut and Grape being the extent of the drama. Housepets also has no songs to its name...

I think the idea would be cool and amusing, though, however unlikely... if this were to succeed, we would first need an animated musical movie! WE MUST GO ONE STEP AT A TIME!

(HA! Eat rational argument! The idea really is cute, though, even if it's pretty much impossible.)

If HP becomes a musical, I can imagine the following:

Peanut singing So Sick (by Ne-Yo) upon seeing Grape with Max
Sasha singing Bad Romance (by Lady GaGa) to Bino
and The Milton Ferrets rapping Like a G6 (by Far East Movement)

Fair enough.

No completely original songs.

'Cause I used Jumper as a backing instrumental track.

It's not long enough besides! Most musical songs are several minutes long, and do a little something to advance the story. This song has neither! It's a fun song, but not quite one for a musical.

and here i was under the impression that musicals had music relevant to the mood and message of the piece, that are usually original pieces too

what you seem to be doing there is a Housepets-themed glee episode

just saying

How can you gather enough people from the same area to do a play. Most people are from various parts of America, sometimes the world. But I don't doubt it will happen in the future with real actors.

As for who will wright the songs, I would say either Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin, Wicked), Robert Lopez (Avenue Q, Book of Mormon, Frozen), or both Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Once on This Island, Ragtime, Seussical).

This topic is old enough (and so full of negativity and off-topic conversations) that creating a new thread would probably have been the better course of action.
