He does every now and then. He was set to go to Rocket City FurMeet last year, but it was cancelled, and I think he is going overseas next year, though not entirely sure.

Yes, he's going overseas this year. I don't see why he wouldn't go to American conventions in the future, though.

Rick does attend conventions, albeit somewhat infrequently. This year, he'll be guest of honor for ConFuzzled, in Brimingham, West Midlands, UK. (I'll not be attending, but I'm sure that's not seen as a negative by anyone!) *giggles*
Re-post because apparently we all need to answer this one.

Why can't we attach items from our computer to PMs like we can in posts in the main forums? Is there an option to enable this?

Well, I don't know why you wouldn't be able to, but you can use an image hosting site like Imageshack or Photobucket (I personally recommend Photobucket. I've had problems with Imageshack in the past). Not quite as quick as just uploading directly from your computer to the forum, but it gets the job done pretty easily once you figure the site out.

I've used those sites plenty of times with no problems. I was just wondering why the option to upload directly wasn't there in the PMs like it is when you post elsewhere...

I believe that option is disabled by default. Forum-appropriate images may be posted on the forums and you may also swap off-site contact information if you wish to e-mail something to another user.

I suppose it's just another way of keeping the forums safe and family-friendly. I'd never share anything inappropriate. It's just inconvenient sometimes, is all. Perhaps I should get my own dropbox... *wanders off to ponder*

I have no idea. I've used both photobucket and flickr for my pictures though.

Same here, but I don't know if I'll continue with them. They're charging money in a short periode of time. But I like their system, maybe I'll stay.

I also have a Photobucket account. But I only use it for these Image.

I said I had problems with Imageshack. It was basically that I would sometimes have to upload an image multiple times before it would finally give it a link that worked right. It got really annoying so I stopped using them.

I've never had that problem with Photobucket. Not only that, but you seem to be able to do more with your pictures there than Imageshack. (At least that's how it was about two years ago. I haven't been on Imageshack since I left them)

Use dropbox. I don't see how imageshack or flickr can be considered better than that for sharing files.

I'm using ImageShack and I'm happy with that. ;)

It depends what you want to share. Photobucket and flickr and imageshack and those type of things are good for image files. If you want to send other types of files though, like videos, documents, etc., then dropbox is probably better.

It's great that you guys are discussing this, but if you want to continue at this point, I would recommend taking it to the Chat Thread or even making a separate one in the NTC section. After all, this topic is for asking mods questions about the forum. :P

I wonder if Satire, the classic British humour, is just mature enough to use.

Hey, Maybe this isn't the right thread, but does anyone know how I can shrink this pic without cropping it? I want to use it for my Avy, but it's to big.

There are prorams you can get to do that like ACDSee or Photoshop, or any other photo editing suites, anything like that. I'll do it for you, if you like and send it across to you in a PM. ;)

I should really stop answering questions here, shouldn't I? It is "ask a moderator" after all and I'm not a moderator so... *mentally slaps self*

GIMP has an option for "Scale image." Dunno if you have that or if it's not over your head, though.

Satire is cruel irony humour, also known as Dry-humour, mainly used in British sitcoms and other comedies.
Backadder is a perfect example.

Sleet knows what satire is. However, your phrasing was curious and confusing - "mature enough to use."

So long as your satire is not political, religious, or otherwise controversial in nature and does not abuse, harass, or belittle another member, it would be fine.

Who would you like to win in the lection? Copper (King of PyX) or Brent (King of being a geek  )?

As far as who we wanted to win, that's a personal matter not just for the current mods, but for everyone in general. If there were any serious doubts as to Copper or Brent's ability to be a Global, we would have approached this very differently than having a vote between them.

As it stands, Copper won and he's our new Global.

I would ask what your second account is and wonder why you would have it in the first place, since you could only vote for one per account.

Also, I voted for Copper just so I could make a rust joke. Only reason really.
