A Housepets' Christmas Carol

I have no idea why I'm posting this. I am sorry it has taken so long for me to post, but some things happened, and I haven't been able to write much. I will update on tuesdays and thursdays. I hope it isn't too bad...

Yes, I know that Christmas was a while ago. I know... :|

Christmas is a time of joy for people and pets alike. It is when we all put aside the pettiness of our daily lives and enjoy each others company. We all want to give rather than receive. Pets especially revel in this all-encompassing feeling of jubilance. Well, most pets…

The pets of Babylon Gardens always enjoyed the Christmas holiday. The snow seemed whiter, the air crisp and clean, and the rays of sunlight seemed to be just a little warmer. Cats could be seen on the rooftops, playing with the lights or having a little nap in the sun. Dogs could be seen energetically dodging snowballs, building snowmen, and just having fun until they passed out in the snow, panting from their exertions. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, all except for a couple slowly making their way down the street.

“ But Beeny-weeny, he’s not so bad, why don’t you just try-“ The beautiful white German shepherd was trying to say, her pink eyes looking pleadingly at her boyfriend.

“No! I know his type. He thinks he can just march here out of nowhere and take over. Well, I won’t let him! He is not going to take everything away from me. I’ll expose that little Napoleon if it’s the last thing that I do!” Beeny-weeny, better known as Bino, interrupted.

Sasha knew that Bino had entered into one of his Paranoid fits, which meant that no one could talk any sense into him, but she couldn’t help but try. She loved Bino, but the particular pet that was the origin of his current rant was a touchy subject for her. She really enjoyed spending time with the little guy.

“ Beeny-weeny, please. Just let him join the club. He’s so cute and tiny! Plus, he made me that nifty little insulated dog house. Now I don’t have to sleep in the cold. Fido and Fox both want him in, so why don’t you agree?”

“ Why are you so set on that corgi, anyway?” Bino eyed Sasha suspiciously, “Do you actually like him!?” Sasha’s expression told him all he needed to know. “You do like him, don’t you? Well, if that’s the case, then it’s over between us!”
Sasha was shocked. “But Beeny poo-“

“No! Go ahead and go to King if that’s what you want! Just don’t come crying to me when he rejects you like your dad! You are clueless! He is just charming you to get closer to me. You’ll see, once he takes over the Good Ol’ Dogs Club, he’ll dump you. I know I’m right. No one believes me, but I’m right, I know I am! I’ll prove it eventually.” With that he stormed off, leaving a teary- eyed Sasha staring at his back.

What? There will be no King of Hearts in this. Trust me, I'm saving that for later.

I didn't take it as an insult, Elly. I was just saying. There won't really be any ships in this story.

Besides, as a rule, I never take anything as an insult.

If you hate him now, just wait. By the end of this setup, you will loathe his very image. It is necessary for the rest of the story.

I am going to go ahead and update again since the last one was in the preview. Something new, Yeah! Next one on Tuesday.

Bino continued on his way, blind to everything around him. He was headed to his house initially, but when he reached it, he just kept on going. He was just too angry to go home right now. He continued stamping around, slowly winding his way around the neighborhood, blocking out anything and everything around him except his own thoughts.

Why!? Why can’t everyone see what is really going on in this neighborhood? Fido…King…Fox… Why do they want to usurp my position? Even that stupid cat lover is a threat. Everyone loves him. Why can’t Sasha see what that runt of a dog is doing? Aaarrrrgh!!!! Why can’t I get anyone to believe me!? I guess I’ll just have to dig up some dirt on them….that’s gonna take forever on those goody-goodys. I doubt that evidence is going to just come up and punch me in the face!

“AAHHHHH!!!!” Bino landed on the hard, icy concrete with a scream and a grunt.

“What in the name of Don Bluth was that!?” He said, looking around. He noticed a light blue binder half covered in the snow. Picking it up, he saw that something was written on the cover. The Adventures Of Spot (Superdog)- Property of Peanut Butter Sandwich was scrawled there. “ Ugh, what has that cat lover done now?”

Bino nonchalantly started to flip through the pages. His pace quickened as he looked at it more and more, paying special attention to note the pages that had a certain character on them. When he was done, he slammed the binder shut with a snap.

“ Wow, this is the best Christmas present I have ever gotten!” Bino said with a malicious grin crossing his muzzle.

They are short updates, I know, but that's how it's going to be for now.

This is a story of redemption. He has to go too far before he can fully redeem himself. It is fashioned after A Christmas Carol, after all. I AM SO SORRY, MR. DICKENS! I AM BUTCHERING YOUR WORK WITH MY SUB PAR WRITING!!!

Sorry. Had to get that out of my system.

Listen to what Elliot says, Copper. I already know something about that xo

Well, you've finally revealed youir project. And as you see, it wasn't that scary at all :) You've broken the first ices. Now, everything will move forward :)
Don't worry about short updates. It's always good to start with small steps.
Now I can't wait what will Bino do to Peanut. Even a thought about this is scary ;)

Ugh, fine. I will put something in there, but I still don't think that romance comes in to play with a story like this. You silly shippers. Just be warned, if I put something silly and romantic in this, I will also put in a horribly sad ending for Grapenut. I had an idea for it, but I thought it might be too sad to end my story like that. You will hate me if I do put in the Grapenut ending. ;)

And no matter what you say, I will still think the same way about my writing, Karlos. Sorry, it is just how I view it.

heh, shipping is not mandatory of course. You have to stick ALWAYS to what you feel right for yourself. Critics are supposed to be constructive, not destructive, so go on, Cop, kill our hearts with your words of pain! For once, make KizerZin happy!

I was just kidding, Geeze!

I do have a horrible Grapenut Idea, but I am not so callous as to do that to Peanut. He is too nice. I can put in that King of Hearts, though. It'll just have to be close to the end.

YAYZ!!! KoH will be always fine, even in small, tasteful doses.
So, shush, Housedog!

I just don't like it. It disgusts me. I'm allowed to have an opinion, even if it conflicts with yours, Valerio. And I definitely don't want KoH if it interferes with Grapenut in any way.

Should go with whatever you think would come out better in the end, which may be leaving our King of Hearts. You may cause a war otherwise!

Don't worry, Housedog, King of Hearts won't interfere with Grapenut. They were separate ideas I had for this story at one point or another. I'll try to keep King of Hearts to a minimum, okay?

I like to ship King of Hearts because it is the most insanely funny ship to me. I love all the potentially awkward moments involved!

I have but one piece of advice for you, Copper: write this how you think it should be written. Everyone has their own opinion, but it's yours that counts. It's your story, not anyone else's.

Ahem. Just felt the need to get that out there. Carry on.

I still think that way, dude. Absolutely zero self confidence here. I'll try to work on it, but for now just enjoy the fic. I just hope I don't delete the whole thing. Again.

Oh No! I forgot the disclaimer thing! Now I'll be sent to the farthest circle of you know where for betraying Rick's Trust!Eh, I'll just put it up now. Everything about this fanfic, including the characters and locations, belong to Rick Griffin. Except the basic storyline, which was created by Charles Dickens. I could never measure up to the furret's genius, so yeah. Anything I miss?

On Thursday you will all hate either Bino or me. I don't know who. I wish I could think of something better or at least a longer update, but here you go.

“GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE!!!” The familiar yell echoed around the Sandwich household as Peanut went from room to room. “GRAPE! WHERE ARE YOU!?”

The dog named Peanut went straight to his sister’s room, intending to ask her a question. Instead he found a note on her door that read: Peanut! Please stop hollering my name. I went to the movies with Maxie, and I’ll be back in a few hours. In the meantime, why don’t you find some form of amusement that doesn’t involve waking the dead!? – Grape Jelly

Peanut couldn’t help but chuckle to himself as he read the note. That kitty knows me too well he thought, slowly shaking his head Well, I guess I can draw some comics until she gets back…

With that thought, Peanut headed back to his room and went straight to his desk. He slowly laid out all of his materials in a neat row and sat down to write. He sat there for what seemed like hours, his pencil poised over the paper before him. Nothing. As the minutes ticked away he got more and more frustrated. He began to pace, but that didn’t help him think.

“Ugh! Maybe if I just look at the other comics…” With that thought in mind, he opened the desk drawer where he “hid” his comics from the world. It was empty…

A surprised look crossed his face as the pup looked in the next drawer, then the next one. He looked in his nightstand, in his closet, and in every nook and cranny of his room. He tossed his mattress off his bed to look underneath it. He ransacked his entire room looking for it. When he made sure that it wasn’t in there, he methodically checked every other room in the Sandwich household. Nothing.

He stood in the hallway, panting from the exertion of his search. There was only one room left, but he hesitated to enter. He knew Grape would tear him apart if she knew he was in her bedroom without her permission, but he had to see if his comics were in there. Peanut nervously reached for the doorknob. He had grasped the knob and turned it when—

*ding-dong*

Peanut let go of Grape’s door and immediately ran full speed toward the front door. He was at the living room door before he knew it, and tried to stop there, but he couldn’t get a foothold and wound up banging his shoulder on the door itself.

“Ow!,” he said as he opened the door “Hello! What do you—?” He was dumbstruck at who was facing him.

I'll try, but life tends to get in the way. I have a short buffer, but that's probably going to be used up.Eh, I'll figure it out, I guess. Thanks for the encouragement, I'll try to get to work on bulking up that buffer. I know that my writing is a little subpar, but the story will hopefully make up for that.

It is who you think. I never meant for it to be a mystery as to who was standing at the door. This was just a break to explain Grape's absence and that Peanut knew that his comics were missing.

I would like to take this moment to explain something, though. I know that the story seems a bit choppy, but that is because I am skipping around the neighborhood. All of the events in the setup happen within the confines of the early afternoon. After the setup, everything will run as one story. I didn't know if that was clear or not. I didn't know how else to write the beginning of the story adequately.
