Is There a Canon Map of Babylon Gardens?

Post by lightwolf21 »

Does anyone know if there's been sufficient information in the comics to determine the layout of Babylon Gardens. i.e. People's/Pet's houses, landmarks, the forest or backwoods, roadways, etc? The map in Dog Days of Summer wasn't detailed enough to make anything out.
Heh. Look at that... I started an actual Housepets! fan-fic.

I imagine it to be something of a cul-de-sac.

That is the angle I was going for. I was just curious as to where each of the pets lived relative to each others positions on the street. Two doors down, next door, across the street, etc.

We all would, but I doubt Rick would make one. He's busy, and it seems somewhat, a trivial matter, yes? (feelin' fancy tonight, so ignore the fancy speak. ;) )

Well, such is the HP! forums. We all kid around though. No disrespect, man.

Ok, to conclude my current thoughts, I think I speak for everyone when I say, no harm meant, no harm done, we all want a map, but I doubt rick will make one.

*shuddershuddershudder* That limerickish thing was barely getiing along in the rhyme factor, but it was doing all to well in the shudder department.

Even though I doubt that Rick would actually make a map of Babylon Gardens, how about one of us make the map ourselves. (That's assuming that Rick is okay with all of this and its posted in the correct forums).

I'm inclined to believe BG's spatial configuration is as ever-changing as Springfield's.

It's got to be in a temperate place, so the Northeast and Upper Midwest are likely locations (mainly due to the probability of snowfall), though nobody said it couldn't be in Canada.

That's true. There are no coconuts.

Kind of off topic, but now that I think about it...If the U&U map of Babylon Gardens was being used by Kitsune, Pete, and Tarot, could they change the layout (like with, I dunno, temporal erasers and pencils) without the residents realizing it had been changed?

I don't think so.
TCN decided to play in a preexisting universe, rather than creating one, and it's plausible they won't change arbitrarily any setting. And the fact that they use avatars rather than playing themselves in the flesh implies they don't want to mess with the reaility they're playing IN. :ugeek:

It's more than just a cul-de-sac... It has to be at least a few streets large. This will sound stupid but, in the short story Rick wrote he had one line that went:
"For the first week of regular play with Fox, King had gone home frozen, sore and stiff. Trudging through the snow to Fox’s house, a short jaunt down two streets might have taken five minutes as a human, but it was approaching twenty."

Either that, or one of them don't technically live in Babylon Gardens. But I was assuming it was more of a sub-urban development. :P

I've placed them at 668, while for some reason extending the neck and putting Sasha at 674.

It would be awesome to hav one but i don't know that there is enough sufficient information given in the comic to make one

Commissioning Rick? Interesting! How very interesting!

... But I have no money and I am not even sure if Rick would accept a commission like this!

I don't think Rick has the map of Babylon Gardens planned out. Maybe just the neighborhood of the houses where the pets live. And that's a big "Maybe".

Unlike a normal commission, a canon map of Babylon Gardens limits Rick; he probably doesn't want to lock himself into one arrangement of houses in case an idea he has requires a certain layout.

I imagined it as a big square with roads running through the main road. Either that or a bunch of loops that came out from a main street.

I tried to upload a comic to show the entrance (not gated) but it said the file was too big... If you're curious, it's the one about the easter egg hunt.... I think it was a one-off.

You can just link the comic rather than save and re-upload it. I tried to find it myself, but I had trouble finding it for some reason. *shrugs*

I know I'm repeating myself but if anyone honestly wants the map I don't really see him making out of a spur of the moment decision. The only way I'm seeing a map is with $.

Yeah I have one track mind like that.

This is probably correct... He'd probably want a fairly generous amount in exchange for limiting himself... The only way i will ever pay for a commision is... Well.... Grapenut... But back to topic...

And sleet i did save it, it just told me the file was too big... IDK why...

I believe bino's talking about this one. There is no gate. Just a decorative sign announcing your arrival at Babylon Gardens.
