Contest! Finish "All the King's Men"

Valerio suggested this to me. If you remember the story All the King's Men ( https://www.housepetscomic.com/2010/03/ ... kings-men/ ) You will also recall that I have not had the opportunity to finish it.

This is your chance to finish it for me!

The finished story should be between 3000 and 7000 words, in two parts; post it here in this thread. It must be cleaned up in editing with correct grammar and correct internet style paragraph spacing. Additionally, the story much be funny and fit within Housepets continuity.

The winner will get his story illustrated in two final parts and posted with full credit on the main page, and also an additional housepets-style illustration of his choosing OR a Housepets t-shirt from MySoti. Two runners-up with also get their stories posted and one free housepets-style sketch of their choosing!

Lets make it so that this contest ends on December 24. Get cracking!

I just might have to try this, I mean I'm kind of a terrible writer, but I loved this arc!

oh dude

so is that two parts total, or two parts in addition to the one that's already been posted?

Yeah, it was always meant to be a three-part story, and I felt like keeping that because it has more opportunity to be a complete story

Does it have to follow exactly within the main story line of the comic ? I need to reread part 1, but, did it take place at a specific point in the time line? I don't remember

The first part was posted back in March, and is set between "It's a Wonderful Dog's Life" and "Ocean's Two"; however, none of the content within the story itself actually dates it (except for taking place in the winter), so you could probably play around with that to some degree, unless Rick nixes it. I certainly plan to, at least; there's been a lot of character development since King was introduced, and that's an awful lot to just leave out.

It certainly would, I hope he allows it

Rick is going to have his hands full reading all these stories (should they all happen)

Question:

Does the second part continue with their game, or start with something totally different?

Okay, I have a rough outline in mind.

I don't think you could canonize it, but it'll be awesome anyway.

Awesome but not canon may be a strong contender for a runner-up

Nnnnnnnnnnnnh...

.

Do, do I really want to do this?

(is there an option to just have it illustrated? depending if I do participate and seeing what little my chances are, still, I just thought I'd ask)

*cracks his knuckles*

All right! Let's show off my talents (or lack of thereof). Let's see if I can move away from my fantasy roots and delve into the world of comedy.
My God, what am I doing?
I wish everyone else luck; you're going to need it. ;p

EDIT: Whoops! I have an idea already! This shall be an interesting concept to write about indeed.

All right, I'm gonna try. It may also result in a spin off of a fan fic.
(and I generally have NEVER DONE fan-ficcing)

So how are you going to choose the winner? Are you going to read all of our submissions and then choose one yourself, or are we going to vote (With the disability to vote for ourselves)?

I'd rather go for the second option.

yes. And in case he had more than one adequate candidate, he could leave it to a honest poll. After all, we'd trust his choice. He could trust our taste.

XD Soooo much interest. I might try my hand at this too, although muffins and cookies it if I'm not bogged down with Uni work. We'll see what happens, although if I don't join there's hardly going to be a shortage of entries XD

That sound interesting, but I will have to finish my novel, even after the end of NaNoWriMo. And I'm not really good in litteral English.
So all I can say is "good luck for everyone"! :D
