Well, honestly, it's not a bad thing she wouldn't be considered a super. There are about a hundred things I could use as the reason why she doesn't have the strength she had in her universe. I was just emphasizing how much I've reined in her abilities.

I don't mind her being in disguise most of the time. That's kind of what she's used to in her own universe. However, her ice arm and aquakinesis are a big part of her person and backstory. I'm only really being so stubborn about this because I've been developing stories and arcs for this character for at least two years. A major change to her person, such as removing a power completely, would require so many adjustments to her character she wouldn't even resemble the original, and I might as well just start over.

I really am trying to balance things with this character. I'm not trying to force this past. I'm trying really hard to make this work, but there are just some things I'm not willing to give up with this character. Her backstory has a lot of interesting commentary on bullying, discrimination, love, respect, honor, lineage, and more. If I change her backstory, I'd loose all of that until I could figure out stories to replace them. If I change her character, I'd have to change her backstory, and if I get rid of a power entirely instead of just nerfing it, I'd have to change her character.

In an effort to provide something to this, how about this?
Aquakinesis, no crykinesis since we already have someone like that. You've got your mechanical arm, but you control water much the same as the rest of our elemental trio controls their elements. Through conscious control and emotional interventions. Except instead of spontaneously creating water, you would lose control, much like lacking in concentration.

maybe she's wearing a limiter of some kind while she's away from her world, and lacks a means to remove it by herself?

that would explain a sudden change in the scope and type of her available powers without invalidating her past.

Buster, I could seriously hug you right now. Why didn't I think of that before? I need some time to look into this as a very good option. Thank you!

Edit: In fact, if she was sent away because she was pushing her powers too hard, it would make sense for her to have a power limiter. That means I could potentially even remove aquakinesis entirely but still have it in her backstory. Personally, I feel that's not much fun, but if the aquakinesis is going to ultimately cause problems... I guess it's up to Hotep.

Personally, i never minded the aquakenesis by itself, i just thought it having cryoknesis and hemokenesis sub-abilities built in with no drawback was OP.

I think having the full slew of elementals would be a little funny. We're just missing Water and then we have the base 3. Ice can be added as another since you can't make ice without cold which isn't an element. The last one we would need is earth.

Also I heard free hugs?

Ah. Wrong RP for the playpark.

<Sigh> Kaylee and Sandy aren't having much luck in keeping their powers secret from the neighbours...

It might be better if a 'rainbow bridge' is seen leading to Amanda's place (where a high magic type is). Then they could speed that way in the car and via portals. But you'll need to discuss with Neon Icy Wings.

If you go for Neon's, ask Neon.

If you go for Kaylees', there's a rather large doghouse taking up most of the front garden and a ankle height framing fence at the bottom of the small front garden. There is grass. There is a road. There are several pets, some of which are feeling a bit assaulted and there are neighbours watching from twitchy curtains as Kaylee and Sandy bring chaos to their street without any intent.

Kaylees' house, but I'm not going to drop her in the middle of someone's yard. I just need to know if there is a spot where her appearance and all that goes along with it could be interpreted, with a stretch of the imagination, as something not supernatural by the neighbors. A wooded section nearby would do nicely.

as far as i was aware, Rig/Noah Yez/Ret and Sandy were the ones living on the outskirts, the others live in the neighbourhood proper.

unless i missed something...

Also, I'm kinda stuck, cause Mandy basically just Red-flagged herself as a massive and immediate physical threat, but without knowing her thought process I can't figure out how four would react to that.

her usual go to solution is 'suppress the source of the problem and figure the rest out after' but after how big a mess that made earlier with Noah finding Sandy before the new memory was ready being the thing that started all this, she'd probably try to read her first. plus there's her deal with socks, and her concern that he'll become as big a problem as Noah if he's not on her side...

between her and Noah, she's the more paranoid of the two, she's just more for complex gambits than direct action...

So I'm a little confused as to what Noah was doing to Sandy. Was he sucking out Sandy's soul or life force or something? 'cause that is some dark stuff, and also seems insanely overpowered. Not to mention, if Eira finds out he can do that, she will have a difficult time trusting him.

It's called aura, and nearest I've been able to wrap my head around, it's an analog to The Force. But that's about as far as my understanding goes.

Like Buster said he can manipulate aura, which is somewhat like the force, though I myself think it's closer to being simply energy, maybe like less flashy and destructive Ki. Not sure as to the extent, but so far it's only been able to cause fatigue and tiredness as well as a few tricks that were quite a ways back. It's pretty expansive, but it's exact limit has yet to be defined, I think.

basically it's exploiting how his powers recharge as an attack.

one thing i do remember though; originally he seemed to be able to draw power from anything, up until backlash for somehow drawing power from cigarette butts got that nerfed down to currently living things only.

so you could probably shut off his powers completely by sticking him in a concrete cell devoid of anything alive.

Thanks. If the worst the power can do to someone is cause intense fatigue, then Eira wouldn't have a problem with it.

I'm currently waiting on Hotep to approve my planned introduction and help me clear up some of the details. It's flashy and loud in hopes of attracting the attention of the other characters so she can just jump right into interacting with everyone else (also because flashy and loud is fun), but I'm trying to make it so that it doesn't totally shatter the masquerade either, and that's kind of a delicate balance.

Would you believe me if I said I thought the cigarette butts thing made sense at the time? Also, his power recharges over time, but he can speed up the process by drawing Aura in from outside sources, like food or other living beings. Aura itself is basically a grab bag power. It can be used to augment his body, create hardlight constructs (like that spoon from the last in game day), read people's emotions, get a few random tidbits of a persons backstory, etc. The main draw backs are A. everything he does drains his limited supply, and if he runs out he gets extremely tired until it's recharged to a decent level, and B. all those cool powers have to be worked like a muscle. He needs to work on them in order to be any good at them. While theoretically there's nothing he couldn't do with the proper amount of training, I am going to put a few hard limits on him, which may be expanded upon later. He can't mess with time, teleport, make constructs that are too small, drain from anything that's either sufficiently processed or was never alive, transform something into something else, or dublicate himself, outside of the aforementioned constructs.
Is all that sufficiently enlightening?

Okay, so looks like the Ki analogy works better than my Force analogy for Cell over here. *shrugs*
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

To put it simply, she's somewhat reverting to how she was at the very beginning because of the current events. Sort of her inner Veruca Salt as her annoyance overrides her want to be calm and amiable. Whether that means slinging some snow and ice or telling on every one to the Matriarch is still up in the air for her. Probably should have added this in the post itself, but I have trouble putting what's in my brain into proper words.

Compressed version: Amanda underwent a small mental shift that may encourage her to act if more things hit the wrong buttons for her, but her inexperience with such situations leaves her undecided on what to do if it actually comes to that.

Might update the main post for some implications sake, if I can find the proper words.

Oh right... Amanda set off most of the Crater Alley debacle didn't she? well other than the crater itself...

Gods you all posted like 7 times before I could. Trying to multitask watching a small movie and doing this.
