Please excuse me for sounding so anxious to push you away, M, that was never my intention. In addition to my previous statement, I would like to add that the kind of character I am more inclined to invite in is a more outgoing sort. We have a few characters with a fair strength score, but still, Somebody who can actively affect the situation at hand, who can move about and talk people up, who can hold their own as a character and be a strong presence. If any stats should be pumped they would need to be charisma and perception, rather than strength or luck, or intelligence. Please, take this into account if you would like to design a new character or redesign your current one

Say, guys: how do you like the idea of Blue Peak Shore being a sort of crossroads for our other RPGs? I wouldn't mind at all hosting characters on vacation from Richmond Acres, Radiant Gardens, Exotic Acres etc. It would be fun to organize the occasional crossover whenever it suits you.
Just let me know^^

I think that was originally part of the idea of BPS, wasn't it?
I think it could work, so long as we don't have characters appearing in two places at once.

Not originally, but it developed since a Drake pet appeared in it

No worries, Lego. Stay safe and have fun. :)

Hi, all. Just a bit of a heads up. My grandfather has been battling cancer for the past two years and at the moment he's not well at all. The cancer is spreading, treatments aren't working, and he's in pain and very weak and sleeping a lot so we think he might not be with us for much longer. He goes to the oncologist again tomorrow. So, if I happen to disappear for a few days in the coming weeks or months then you'll know what's happened so please bear with me and I'll be back as soon as I can. Thanks for your understanding and support.

Heylo lads and gentlewomen. With mandatory education over (ya!) I now have the time to run and reopen the SRP Terra Ridge (fanfare!). I hope this time around I can keep it up and chugging ^_^
I still have some things to work out, depending on who joins and if we start from scratch again.
But before that it'd probably be a good idea to see how many people are interested >_<'. At the beginning the RP will support around 5-7 people.

Soo... Are you?

Questions, comments, concerns?

I'm interested, but I think I'll have to pass up on this one. Having too many characters would be burden at some point, and I'm already controlling somewhere around 8! All the best with Terra Ridge though~

Hello, people! I have been around the forums for a little while but never bothered to look into roleplaying. But now that summer is here, I've got way too much time on my hands, I might just give it a shot, I do enjoy writing, after all.

Firstly, I do hope this is the right place to be asking questions, forgive me if it isn't, I have had no previous experience of collaborative writing or roleplaying in general, so please feel free to treat me like a toddler. I have read the 3 introductory posts on this thread but there are still some aspects of roleplaying that may be unclear to me, so I would appreciate it if someone were to enlighten me on this matter.
Right, I'll keep this simple:
1. Is there a defined/definite structure to the IC threads? Is turn posting a thing, or do members just post whenever? Does this differ between different RPs?
2. I know that scripting isn't allowed, but are the RPs driven by something of a plot, with all the characters trying to achieve a common goal? Or is it a scenario that drifts to wherever the posters dictate? I know this may differ from RP to RP, but in any case, I would be happy with a general answer.
3. Lastly, which of the RPs would you guys recommend a complete beginner to look into? I see the Richmond Acres is "perfect for beginners" but personally, I don't think I'm going to enjoy that one, dunno why, please don't take offense :)

I may raise other queries later, but this will be it for now. Thanks everyone!

This is the perfect place to ask all your RP-related questions. ;)

1.) There is some variation in this. Some RPs, like the SRPs, do have a rigid turn-based system. Others are basically free-for-all posting as you will, so long as there's someone there to reply to. I'd suggest reading a couple of pages of the IC thread to get a feel for it. The GMs can also give you the specifics of their neighbourhoods if you ask them. ;)

2.) By nature, the SRPs are plot-driven because your character has to achieve a certain goal. In my experience, the other RPs tend to be more arc-based and the arcs can be either spontaneous things created by players or they can be crafted by the GM to send the RP in a particular direction. Again, there is variation. The OOCs for the RPs as well as the GMs can give you more information specific to their RPs. It's also a good idea to read a couple of pages of IC to get a feel for the plot before you join.

3.) No offence taken. ;) We like having a range of tastes and viewpoints here. I think most of the RPs here will be easy enough to get into. If you're after something light-hearted, Sunset Plateau or Radiant Gardens might be good ones. Redwall is fun too but it helps to be a little familiar with the books for that one. Apollo City isn't as scary as it looks or as dark as it might sound. Exotic Acres is also a light-hearted and friendly one but it's veeeery slow. The others I think will have darker themes or will have more complex elements, however I may well be wrong so feel free to check out their OOCs, chat with their GMs and decide for yourself. ;)

I hope this helps. :)
If not, or if you have any more questions then please don't hesitate to ask. ;)
