Appearance: Mercury has blue-gray fur with black stripes along his tail, arms, and legs. His collar is a simple white collar and the tag is a square with the periodic symbol for mercury on it (The periodic symbol for mercury is “Hg”). As for additional clothing, he wears a tweed flat cap and a large, olive green messenger bag. He is actually rather thin.

Personality: Mercury is usually happy, albeit quiet. He tends to be serene in his actions and observations, as if he were faltering between being awake and being asleep. Mercury is almost always fidgeting with his hands unless he is doing something. He speaks at a medium pace, but most of the time, he’s talking to himself. Mercury loves meeting other pets and tries to befriend them without hesitation. Mercury loves watching anime and reading books. He is nearly always up for any form of activity, except for football and baseball. His distain for those previously mentioned sports is a trait he got from his dad. He has a little bit of a secret affection for dogs. Mercury is also quite an artist.

Background: Mercury was born as a feral/stray in a northern city and would have frozen solid if it weren't for a kindly artist who took him in while he was a kitten. But this joy could not last, for the artist was fickle and left Mercury to live on the streets, as another cat became the apple of his eye. Once again, he had nearly frozen solid, but fate had a different plan. He was adopted by a truly kind man, Johanan Hart, Mercury's current dad. Mercury and his dad have been living happily togather for about two and a half years now. They have been moving about, looking for a place to settle into.

The runt of the litter he spent a lot of time by himself reading as a pup. He grew up to be a very quiet introverted dog. Ian has always had trouble opening up to new pets. His shyness is sometimes confused with arrogance. He isn’t very confident and prefers to follow others. Because he has trouble making friends Ian values the few friends he has very highly and will do almost anything they ask because he’s so afraid of losing them. Ian is worried, it took him a long time to develop his small circle of friends in his original home, he fears that he’ll end up friendless in his new home.

Ian is moving with his father Matt, an accountant. Matt’s firm transferred him to the office in (insert neighborhood here).

I had an idea for a character I'd like to play, so if anyone's got an opening I'd like to join a new RP.

Name: Tesla Potter

Species: Dog (Pembroke Welsh Corgi)

Age (Pet years): 18 years old

Neighborhood: TBA

Appearance: Tesla’s coat is black and white in the standard corgi pattern. His tail, like many corgis is short and brush like. Tesla has big, chocolate brown eyes. His collar is deep violate with a white band running down the length and the tag is a broken cog with his name etched on it. As for extra clothes, he wears a pair of tinted protective goggles, a pair of leather work gloves, and he is often seen wearing a leather protective apron. He sometimes is carrying a backpack.

Personality: Tesla absolutely LOVES turning junk into odd and often useful machines. He is very friendly, albeit rather awkward. Tesla will become very focused on his projects. He is fairly jumpy when he is inventing. Like Nikola Tesla, Tesla always visualizes what his inventions will look like and do, even before he begins building it. Tesla really enjoys chewing on things and meeting other pets.

Other: He has a habit of cleaning his gloves, apron and goggles. He is very technologically talented (He is talented with machinery and computers). He is named after Nikola Tesla. Every so often one of Tesla’s inventions will explode and throw him against his garage wall, but he is usually unharmed. Tesla especially likes inventing vehicles. Tesla often visits a local junkyard to gather supplies for his inventions.

Backstory:: Tesla was born in south-western city. His dad was an engineer and a computer nerd to boot. Tesla’s dad taught him about computers and how machinery works and always encouraged Tesla to invent his ideas. Eventually his dad was laid off from his job and could not afford to keep taking care of Tesla, and thus had to put him in a shelter. Recently Tesla’s current mom, another engineer, adopted him and moved into his current neighborhood.

Hey guys, Things have been really hectic lately with the end of the semester and me being so sick for so long. The fact that I haven't posted for so long completely slipped my mind!
I'm gonna post for everything I can right now and I'll probably be able to post more at the end of this week...

Backstory:
Sent to Dimitar in Blue Peak Shore from recently deceased friend of his.

Personality:
Martin isn’t very talkative ever since his Dad’s demise, but he’s too proud to admit that he needs as much as company and attention as possible.
Before, he was quite talkative and happy and unlike the other members of his breed – very nice and polite to strangers. He never judges hastily.
He can sing well and can play on guitars.

Appearance:
A typical member of his breed, he closely resembles that of a German shepherd, yet his fur is not as long as those of his German cousins.
His eyes are Sapphire blue and he wears a black collar with the Bulgarian Rosete on it. He’s quite high for his kin – 1,6 m.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
S - very trustworthy and loyal friend
W - very protective over his past; Sometime his speech is incomprehensible or even creepy. Too headstrong at the moments.

Other notes:
=> He's skilled in the art of surviving
=> He has a small first aid kit, which he knows how to use
=> Since he was trained in combat arts, he is in possession of a staff, which can be turned into spear (with a metal head added). The staff is actually consisted of two connected sticks with which he’s quite skilled.

Of late he’s calm and polite, yet still likes to live rich. He still has big dreams of being on stage, but he still likes to practice for fun. Background:
His father, Lester, is the spoiled son of a somewhat rich business man. The old businessman was proud of his younger son's partial interest to his job and they spent a lot of time in learning the subtleties of the business. Yet, while Christopher’s Father was the beloved son, Matt. Lester’s brother, wasn’t in very good relationships with both his Father and his brother and this went on their pets eventually, causing the shepherd brothers to literally begin to hate each other. It didn’t took long before Christopher’s brother and his owner left the mansion.
A while later, Christopher began to realize what a great loss he had and he began to regret his bad behavior towards his brother. In time he changed a lot and even learned the drums, he even tried to find where his brother went, so that he may visit him. But his owner and his owner’s Father didn’t like his change, seeing in him a second Matt, so they began to act bad towards him. Christopher didn’t last long and one night, he stole some money from his Father’s End-table and ran away, but was never sought. With the information he had acquired from the various places they’ve been, he learned that his brother and his owner have settled in Applegate. It took him about three months to finally catch up with them, but he is determined to fix his own mistakes in the past.

Because Max worked as a freelancer instead of a traditional programmer, he had plenty of free time to spend with his pets. During this free time, he taught Kyle how to assemble and disassemble a computer as well as several programming languages. Kyle discovered he had a natural aptitude for tech, and proved to be a very quick learner. He often helped Max with the jobs he took by testing new programs and helping to debug them.

However, about a year ago, Max took a job that required him to work under the restraint of a confidentiality contract. The employer also required Max to work on location, so Max had less time to spend with his pets. Kyle and Lara were able to fend for themselves, but they missed the company of their owner compared to his usual jobs. Even with this new lifestyle, things went OK until about two weeks ago. That's when the men in the black suits showed up.

It was early on a Wednesday morning. Kyle awoke to the sound of a window breaking as a small container crashed through it. He had time to look at it for about two seconds before it released a foul-smelling gas that filled the room. Kyle passed out as a man in a black suit and a mask crashed through the same window the container had flown through.

When he awoke, he was tied up and sitting in a concrete room. His sister, Lara, was unconscious and lying on the floor to his left. Directly in front of him and behind a set of iron bars stood his owner, a worried expression on his face. Next to him stood a tall man wearing a black suit. The man in the black suit spoke.

???: As I already told you, Max, we noticed you needed an incentive. Well, here it is.
Max: Bill, if you've hurt them in any way, I promise you I'll-
Bill: Now, Max, I don't think you're in any position to be making threats. They're not hurt. At least, not yet. If you would just focus on your work, they will stay that way.
Max: At least let me in there with them. They are probably scared out of their minds.
Bill: All in good time, my friend. For now, you have more important things to worry about.

Bill snapped his fingers and two muscular men in blue shirts and dark sunglasses walked up to Max and took him by the arms.

Bill: Guards, escort this gentleman back to his workstation. We have a schedule to keep.

As the guards and Max walked away, Kyle's vision began to swim and he blacked out.

Max resumed whatever secret task Bill spoke of. A week later, Bill made a gesture of good faith and moved Kyle and Lara to Max's holding cell. It was a happy reunion, to say the least. None of them were allowed to leave, however, until Max finished his work. This was not to be, though. Two weeks later, a guard entered the cell and escorted Kyle down a dark corridor to a dark, imposing room where Max and two men in black suits stood. The black-suited men stood across from Max, a large desk between them. Kyle recognized one of the men as Bill from when he was first brought here. The other, he had never seen before. Bill was furious at Max. He slammed a tablet computer on the desk.

Bill: Max! What is the meaning of this?
Max The meaning of what? You've interrupted my work to slam a tablet on a desk?
Bill Do you think this is some kind of joke? Maybe you haven't noticed, but I have your beloved pet here!

Bill snapped his fingers, and the guard brought Kyle into the room, his front paws bound and a muzzle about his mouth. Max's attitude changed from indignance worry.

Max: Bill, I don't understand. I've done everything you asked. Please, just let Kyle and Lara go. They have no part in this. I'll see the project to through to completion.
Bill: It's too late for that now, Max! I've discovered your treachery, and you are going to be punished for it!
Max: Treachery? I still don't-
Bill: Stop lying to me! You know what's on that tablet, and you were going to send it to the FBI! I've run out of patience with you, Max! Reg!

The other black-suited man spoke, now.

Reggie: Yes, sir?
Bill: Dispose of this pet. I don't care how. Max, here, needs to be taught a lesson.
Reggie As you wish...

Reggie placed a hand on Kyles shoulder, turned him about, and the two of them left the room. Max leaped from his chair, but a pair of guards rushed into the room and restrained him before he could reach Kyle.

Bill: You know, Max, Lara is still here and unharmed. It's too late for Kyle, but you can still save her. I recommend you focus your attention on the task at hand. Do good work, and I may just forgive you.

Reggie blindfolded Kyle as the left the building and placed him in the back seat of a car. The two of them drove a few miles until they reached the outer limits of the city. Suddenly, Reggie stopped the car, turned in his seat, and removed the blindfold from Kyle's eyes.

Reggie: Please, don't be afraid. I'm not going to harm you. This is all my fault...

Kyle couldn't speak because of the muzzle, but was growling as Reggie reached toward him.

Reggie: I have to remove your collar. There's a GPS transmitter in it that will give away your location. I can't risk Bill's men coming after you, again. I'm really very sorry about all this. If you will please stop growling, I will remove your muzzle.

Kyle quieted down, and Reggie removed his collar first, then his muzzle. Kyle tried to bite Reggie's hand as he pulled the muzzle off, but he missed and rolled off the seat and into the floorboards of the car.

Reggie: I guess you must hate me, huh. I don't blame you. After all, none of this would have happened if not for me...
Kyle: You keep saying that, but what do you mean?
Reggie: Max did his best to cooperate with Bill after he threatened to have you and your sister petnapped. I was the one who was going to turn Bill and his entire operation in. I couldn't take the guilt any more. I had to do something, but I was afraid of what Bill might do if he found out. So, I used Max's ID and computer whenever I was preparing the information for the FBI. Obviously, my plan failed. All I can do now is to free you and try to keep Max and your sister safe until either the project is complete or the FBI discovers the operation. I'm going to untie your paws now, but I would prefer if you didn't try to bite me.

Reggie untied Kyle's paws and helped him out of the car. He then handed him a small envelope.

Kyle: What's this?
Reggie: Plan B. In that envelope, you will find a paper with a set of instructions. You will also find a USB memory stick containing the files I was going to send to the FBI. I have also enclosed $50 and directions to get from here to a nearby pet-friendly neighborhood.
Kyle: What makes you think I'm going to follow your scheme? If what you are saying is true, the last one failed. And, I still don't trust you.
Reggie: Fine, don't follow my plan. It's the surest way to free Max and Lara, though. I can't try any more. After I explain how I "disposed" of you, Bill is sure to call my loyalty into question. I won't be able to help anyone if he should uncover the truth. Whatever you decide, you are free to go. I will throw your collar off a nearby bridge and into a river. Hopefully, Bill won't ask whether or not you were wearing it at the time the transmitter short circuits. The choice is yours.

And with that, he got back into the car and drove off. Kyle opened the envelope and found the directions to the neighborhood Reggie spoke of.

Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to give Kyle a backstory that I could play off of. I still have some plans for it, but saying them here would spoil things early.

Dark story, it's one way but sustainable for quite an amount of time so nothing to say there. A suggestion of sorts though, you may bring up parts of the story to the current GM of RV to fit it better with the current happenings and settings.

Er, to say it more clearly... The backstory is fine as a backstory but execution of the continuation of the story will be trickier to do in an RP as other characters may disrupt a fair amount of the planned story progression. Which in turn may lead to complications etc.

So yeah, careful with plot related advancements and better yet, inform it in advance or at least hint about it when it comes up.

Oh and just for a friendly warning, it is better to inform the GM in advance if you're preparing an event as to avoid problems from arising due to misfitting developments.

Thanks for the tips. I don't plan to do anything without prior consent from the GM. I am sorry if my previous post sounded like that.

If the GM (Keeshah, currently) has any problem with what I have in mind, I am prepared to abandon the idea. I do not want to do anything that would prove disruptive to RV in any way.

This is RV, we live for Drama.
In fact all the people who was against RV getting so dark an dramatic have long left the RP.
SO you could get a lot of the pets to go on a raid on the place where your father is being held.

Backstory: Born feral, Oliver has had to live roughly until one fateful day. He had broken his arm and leg during a fall down a steep hill. Oliver had been rendered unconscious by the time he landed in Jane Kingfisher's backyard, dehydrated. Jane , a veterinarian, had seen him land and nursed him back to health. Oliver had been adopted by the her and they soon moved to their current neighborhood.

Personality: She always tries to be helpful to anyone, being able to perceive when people are upset and talk them through any problems they might be having. She sometimes gets too involved in the lives of people she's just met, though, as she wants to fix everyone's problems.

Backstory: She was adopted from Norway while one branch of the Drake family was on vacation and given as a gift to her current family. She was old enough to have picked up a slight accent, but it's nearly imperceptible now. She's traveled around the world with her family, spending most of her time with her dad while her dad was handling business (He's a fairly important Psychologist in the world, dealing with humans and animals alike.) She's seen sled races in Alaska, one in particular where the lead of one of the teams got injured. She used her natural charisma to cheer him up after he lost. She once saw a man fight a Kangaroo in Australia too. She still occasionally calls the man's cat to talk about stuff.

Other: She has read a few of her dad's psychology textbooks so she can better understand how to help others deal with their problems, but she couldn't understand some of them so she just tries to talk them through their problems.
Her mom also has a Psychology degree and a license to practice, but she prefers to just do it as a hobby while her husband makes money off of it.
Her dad runs therapy sessions from his home office.

She's just able to read cues in the face and body posture of others. This includes all feelings.

Would it be possible to get an update on which role plays are open to new members? I've checked the front page and their edit dates are a bit old so I just want to make sure they are right before I start working on a profile.

His collar is bright orange with a stripe of reflective tape running the full length of the outside of the collar, as for the tag it is that of a railroad crossing sign which has been painted on the front with his on the back.

-Personality-
Widget is friendly, and playful with anyone he meets and at times can be a bit curious which has led to him begin in trouble in the past. When it comes to interaction with others he treats all the same, least until his daddy comes home then his attention will turn directly towards him.

-Other Notes-
His dad works for the railroad there for he will often disappear for periods of time as he goes with him to ride on the trains but is never gone for more than a couple of days at most.
He lacks a lot of knowledge gained through living a normal life but makes up for this with his knowledge of trains and the rail ways that they travel along. However having spent some much time on trains has affected his hearing and sense of smell so he often times appears to ignore people without doing so.

Alexander is rather tall, even for an Akita, which is a tall breed. His collar is black and the tag is an extra long board wheel with his info engraved on it. As for extra clothing, Alexander wears a pair of baggy brown cargo shorts, a couple of bracelets, and a bag filled with his skate gear.

Personality: First and foremost, Alex is a total skaterat. He is a very friendly and social dog. Alex really tries not to be obnoxious, but at times, especially after a good trick on his board, he just can’t help it. He cares deeply for his friends and is willing to do most anything for them. Alex tends to turn things into games. He secretly has an affinity for cats.

Backstory: As a puppy, he was a stray near a college campus. Eventually a student named Rue Saint Claire took Alex in and instilled a love of skating in him. They have lived with each other through Rue’s college career and they soon moved to their current neighborhood after she graduated.

So. YsF is ending, and a bunch of us don't want our characters to end, so we are planning a massive migration to another neighborhood. This group includes me, TMH, Housefox, Mystic, and Simple Things.
What neighborhood that doesn't already have any of us in it can take 5 players with a total of 7 characters?

Well, Edge City is still open to newcomers, but I wouldn’t exactly recommend it unless you’re familiar with a few creepypastas (Slenderman, Smile.dog, Observers, ect.) and prepared to play along with that kind of genera. Though I do recall that Housefox was interested, and simplethings posted a few times before stopping entirely.

I said that doesn't have any of us. Moon and I both have two characters we need to move, and that would bring us to 3 characters. plus, they don't exactly fit there.
So I think the choices are RA or RG.

Appearance: Iudex is very tall and lean. His coat is black with a white chin, chest, and paws. Iudex's eyes are a piercing orange. There is a thin scar running from his left eye to the left corner of his mouth. Iudex's collar is leather and the tag is a black scrying mirror with is info printed on the back. For extra clothing, he usually wears a stainless steel cuff with runes engraved in it on his right wrist, a polished ebony and bone ring in the shape of a skull on his left index finger, and a satchel filled with supplies. His look has been described as "dark".

Personality: Iudex is generally friendly, but can be a real pain when he is agitated. He believes firmly in magic and mysticism, and thus carries many supplies for his spells in his satchel. Without a doubt, Iudex will defend his friends until the end. He has a strong dislike of direct sunlight, he says it, "Burns away his energies". Iudex loves art and music and dark places, he says they, "Fuel his soul with mana". Iudex is really enjoys the presence of others and what he calls "Fun". He is very relaxed, taking a "what will be, will be" attitude towards most things, but can be very serious if need be.

Backstory: Iudex was adopted from an abusive family as a kitten by his current dad, Lucius Markov. Lucius taught Iudex the ways of magic and and the "Otherrealm ". As Iudex grew, he moved many times, but recently, he and his dad have felt the urge to settle down.

So from this I would take it that Edge City is a PF zone that deals with supernatural creatures or objects. Are the observers aliens or another type of supernatural creature? Well it be able to maintain the PF rating while holding a creepy story feeling?

Edge City is actually intended to be more like a collection of pet-friendly creepypasta adventures. For more about it, just read the OOC. All the ratings still apply, but even what we’re imitating has a way of being A-grade nightmare-fuel without extending beyond PG-13.

On a side note, ‘Observers’ or 'The Collective’ are actually a group of shadowy individuals who are under the influence of the slenderman. Contact with one of them typically results in intense paranoia and an omnipresent feeling of being spiritually stalked.

Inky is a curious, clean freak, his need to keep his self-clean is a strong driving force in his life going as far as to spend an hour if not longer each morning brushing his fur out. If he gets dirty, he will feel the driving need to remove whatever has gotten on him. If not allowed to clean he will grow aggressive and problematic. As for his curiousness, this is related to cooking. He loves to cook and bake things as he finds great pleasure in cooking for others and try new foods.

Contents of the pack: Container of wet wipes, small towel, double sided brush, pet friendly nail clippers. When cooking he is most likely to cook foods that have a lot of vegetables but can be talked into cooking with meat.
