Yeah I agree with you here I love golf, I suck at it though, but yeah it's one of those games were its fun to play and really boring to watch. Much like Bowling.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
Well... to me golf is something where a guy just waves a stick and goes from one point to another. And nothing else. But maybe that's because I'm European. For instance, I really like to watch Football ( the one that was invented in England ;p ) and I even go to stadium to watch it. And those in US who talked with me about it say that it's just a bunch of guys running after one ball, trying to get from one side to another, breaking each other's legs in the process.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
the problem Americans have with soccer is that it's such a low scoring sport. You can go an entire game without anyone scoring, whereas other sports, you can average about one instance of scoring for each division of the game (i.e: quarters, periods, innings, etc) but as you said, it's a cultural thing. half of America likes to watch cars going around a track 200 times, the other half finds that boring.

Re: Chat Thread 39: A Heartwarming Children's Movie
Soccer in America doesn't have the same level of promotion behind it either. There is a lot of money at stake in the more traditional American sports. I think it is those higher stakes that make it more tense and prestigious.
I am surprised that Rugby is not bigger than it is. When someone asks me what it is, I say "sort of like American Football but without all those stupid pads and helmets in the way!"

Well that's because football is a lot more exciting. Not that rugby isn't rugged and awesome to watch but it's a lot more slow paced (at least the couple times I've watched it it has been)

It's like a game called Palant. From it comes Baseball, but it is not so much popular like its successor because it's much simpler to play and less spectacular to watch.

Soccer is best watched live at the stadium, trust me. Actually, that goes for any sport. They're all much more enjoyable when you're not watching it on tv.

I don't know, I think I'd rather see Gridiron Football on TV.

Agreed. I find sports more enjoyable when I'm actually at the event.

Wait... since when is American football in any way fast-paced? The plays last an average of about 4-6 seconds, and then everyone walks around and sets back up for a few minutes. There is a relatively small percentage of the game where they're actually playing.

My goal in life is to one day start a riot over a wnba game It's still pretty fast paced. Just fast paced in small intervals.

Futbol/Soccer isn't exactly fast paced either, since most of the time the majority of players are just jogging around.
