I use cheap headsets. Nut sure what brand, but they are roughly $10 each. >.>

I have a WoW headset too. Pretty darn good, but busted cord. need a new one for it =\

Same here. I use a pair of $10 head phones I got at Big Lots. They are perfect for capturing every single sound.

I'm okay with pretty cheap headphones as long as they're actual headphones. Earbuds are just awful.

I think that ear buds feel uncomfortable. I only wear them when I have no other choice. Also, depending on who uses them, they can get wax on them. Someone tried to offer me theirs one time and that came up.

Disgusting.

I bought a pair of AKG k240 headphones for roughly $64, which was a substantial discount off the MSRP ($159). I kinda needed something better than my usual $10 earbuds for my home studio.

I'm forced to use headphones because I live with those two people who keep telling me that loudspeakers are a tool for house crumbling.

Well that depends on what you're recording in said studio.
though to be fair you don't strike me as the start a punk band type so you're probably right. : p

No, not so much punk-type stuff. I'm a voice over guy and would-be singer. I mostly record vocals, therefore, with occasional piano or recorder music. I don't scream - that just messes up your vocal folds and nobody wants polyps.

I use and love earbuds. The ones I prefer are usually a little more expensive, on the $15-$20 side rather than just $10. Mainly because I just can't stand it when they sound like junk.

Gahhh, you guuuuuys, Carolina is driving me nuts. They have already sent decisions out to out-of-state students and applicants in the counties immediately surrounding the university, but the ten or so people at my school who have applied (including me) have neither a letter or an online decision. Are they really going to make us wait until the last admissions notification of January 30th? Carolina isn't my first choice, but it's bugging me.

I got a pretty nice pair of new headphones for Christmas, but I still need to buy an adapter so I can actually plug them into my laptop. They're pretty cheap, from what I can tell, but none of the places I've checked nearby me had any in stock, and to buy online I'd have to borrow my mom's credit card. And I hate doing that. :I

I use my headphones for my computer and my stereo. I found this nifty all-in-one stereo very cheap. It has a record player, CD player, cassette player, MP3 jack and an AM/FM radio.

I finally have something to play my records on!

Ditto, I was accepted to UTA right out of high school buut I could not afford it. My parents couldn't afford to send me and Paying for college SUCKS, so I went to the community college instead. Seeing as how i'm a cheapscate anyway now I nearly have enough dough set aside to attend a major 4-year institution after I transfer my credits!

This is probably something you already know, but not all four-year universities accept credits from community colleges (unless they're affiliated). ATU, for example, wasn't happy to take transfer students from UACCM, but would apply credits taken at ATU-Ozark, its own community college.

It really all depends on the classes you take. I've already took almost all the core credits that will transfer to any Texas university. Some universities will accept credits that aren't "core Curriculum" but it really all just depends on the program/major/classes that your studying for.

Have you tried getting a Pell grant? You don't have to pay those back. You can put off borrowing money for a couple of years with those.

I have heard that before about community college credits. It really is unfair.

The good thing about North Carolina:
The North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) is a statewide agreement governing the transfer of credits between NC community colleges and NC public universities and has as its objective the smooth transfer of students.
https://www.nccommunitycolleges.edu/pro ... ve_a_a.htm

General education classes will transfer, but the more "major specific" courses are the ones that you're really better off taking at a university, for your time and money's sake.

Not a lot of people are aware of that. That is why most transfer students remember college as the best 6 years of their lives.

Four, normally. That's why he said six. Because often transfer students have to retake classes.

I believe the extra year is the "hangover buffer".

I told my mom of my plans to go back to school and get a nursing degree. She was ecstatic. She said that she wanted to be one but life got in the way. She said that it was one of the best decisions that I could make. I probably won't try to enroll until the fall tho.

Poor Sleet. So innocent and trusting.

because the more popular majors (relating to computers and technology and such) are all demanding and have a lot of stuff you need to learn. the 5th year allows you to have more free time each semester.

For financial reasons, I had to take fewer classes per semester than would have gotten me to graduate within four years. I ended up going for nine semesters (and should have stretched it to 10, but wanted to graduate on my birthday).

I'm doing a double degree at the moment which takes 5 years but because there is absolutely no help from the university itself in terms of what the heck I actually need to take (seriously we have 5 kinds of student services on campus and it turned out I had to talk to someone completely different), it's going to take an extra semester to do one subject because some subjects are only offered in one semester and others in the other and I now have more that can only be taken in one than in the other if that makes sense. :?

At least it means I can spread out what would be my last semester over two semesters.
Feel like you need a friend? I'm happy to talk anytime! :D

You know, you are right. When you learn about it and see just how messed up the world really is, it really depresses you. I think it probably contributed to my manic depression.

Its a good thing I am going to try and start the nursing program this fall...

I would seriously recommend taking longer to get through college if that means you take less classes in a semester. You'll be there longer, but you'll be less stressed. It saves you from wanting to pull your hair out. :3
