I love facebook as a means of keeping in touch and planning/coordinating things. But I hate the way it can eat up a bunch of my time when I let myself get sucked into it. This doesn't happen so much anymore and it's mostly a get on for 5-1o minutes a day now but sometimes Ilook up and realize I just wasted an hour on facebook instead of doing something productive. I was almost out of the whole social media thing until my friend convinced me to get on twitter.

I don't even use it for that anymore. All I do now is 'Like' random pictures.
I, by policy, never "Like" anything.

Nah, I'm pretty sure Blue was available in other places. In fact, if I remember correctly, I had both Red and Blue when I was younger.

Pretty sure it wasn't. But let's be honest it really doesn't matter they were the same freakin game.

Flip this statement and you are correct. Green was Japanese-exclusive, everyone else got Blue.

Also, in regards to the Facebook discussion last night, I use my account all the time as a way to keep up with so many people. I also enjoy being able to express myself with my photography and other sections of my profile. Luckily I don't post status updates like, "lol just ate a bagel." My statuses are normally significant. I post maybe every few days, or once every week or two. *shrugs*

I mostly use my Facebook for getting yelled at by my mom for the things I put on there.

Which is pretty interesting 'cause my Facebook is pretty much squeaky clean.

Japan actually got "Blue" at some point. Our Blue is the equivalent of their Green, though. Then Yellow came out. So Japan had four versions in generation one.

A part of me has always wanted a copy of Green version just for the sake of having all of the Gen. 1 games. At one point I had Red, Blue, and Yellow (I got Yellow first, though); so I kinda wanted the complete set. Even if I couldn't understand a word of Japanese, I'm certain I could still play through the entire game simply because I'd beaten the others so many times.

Sadly, though, both my Red and Blue version have "disappeared" over the last few years. I dunno if they're just buried somewhere in my ridiculously overstuffed closets, or if one of my cats dragged them off into some remote area of my house, or if I legit left them somewhere by accident. But either way, I haven't seen them in ages. My Yellow version I know is still around because my older sister has it. I loaned it to her a good while ago because she'd never really played the Pokemon games way back when, but she had an urge and I was like, "Eh. Why not?" She still hasn't given it back, but then I still haven't asked for it back. I definitely will if she moves out because that's one of the only old games I have that I would truly be devastated to lose (not to mention it'd be expensive as heck to replace).

I had Red, but my copy had a glitch. That island in the south? Either there was a rock missing that was supposed to be there or a rock was there that wasn't supposed to be. Either way it made the game impossible to complete.

Seems a lot of you had a Sega or Nintendo growing up. Child of Sony, here. The game of my younger years was Spyro. So many hours of fun playing as a small fire-breather with an attitude. I bet a lot of us forumites played those.

Oh yeah, I have reappeared after disappearing for no real reason at all.

I'm so different from you guys... I only played games on PC when I was young and I still do. Personally I think if you use it right, PC is good for gaming. I used to donwload all the demo games from microsoft Games and play it all.
only console that I have is Xbox (old oldy one) and wii

We had a Playstation in the living room for the family and I had a Game Boy for myself. I ended up with nearly every generation of GB and I've got heaps of games ranging from now till way back when. As for Playstation, we had games like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot as well as some games only people who played Playstation will know like Croc and Klonoa (best game EVER) but we mostly could only afford to get the Playstation Magazine each month which came with a new demo disc each time. Those were the days...

I started gaming on a Snes my older cousin handed down to me, then I got a ps1 in about 3rd or 4th grade. So I got the best of both worlds. Tons of mario and crash bandicoot as well as some awesome classic SNES sports games like nba Jam and NHL '94. I need to find that SNES for my appartment next year. It should still be in working order.

...wow Conker had a disturbing(and tragic) change :?

I still have my old N64 and my red controller!
But, the only games I have left are Mario Kart64, Super Mario 64, Starfox 64, Rush2, and Space Station Silicon Valley (doesn't work very well anymore).
I would like to get another SNES.

The patent on the SNES is gone now so you can get third-party ones pretty cheap now I think.

And even if you couldn't it would be worth every penny. A lot of the games on SNES obviously show their age but the classics have aged pretty darn well. I'll still spend hours on end playing street fighter 2 or mario with the same glee I did as a young lad.

TheMobian wrote: Just to correct you, there were actually 3 sonic TV shows in the 90s, and one OVA as well
"Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog"
"Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM)"
"Sonic Underground"
and "Sonic The Hedgehog the Movie (OVA)"
To add on that OVA, rumor has it(untill it was more or less confirmed) that the OVA was actually meant to be an entire TV series, but the first two episodes(the OVA) did poorly with the test audience. So the writers said "Forget it. We'll just slap these two episodes together, and call it a Movie."

The reason why it did so poorly: nobod knows, but my guess is the audience thought it was just for kids(which it was, but it was also for teens and adults), and were appauled at the GCPTR moments(you know the ones 8-) )and reacted poorly. Poor Communication canceled it, in a nutshell.

So to reiterate: because of poor communication(it was meant for all ages, particularly teens, but the audience didnt know that) killed a to-be-series where Knuckles was an AWESOME treasure hunter, Sonic and Tails ACTUALLY ARGUED from time to time, AND THERE WAS A CAT-GIRL ...waaahh..
Well, thats what an OVA is. Its an Original Video Animation. Its usually structured as sort of a pitch to see if they can turn it into a TV series. For some reason, Sonic the Hedgehog OVA didn't do well (very possibly because of the reasons you mentioned) so it was never made into a TV show.

I agree with you on all that you have said though. Knuckles was awesome in that movie (LOVED his voice actor), and pretty much everything in that movie was awesome. Too bad it didn't catch on because of the marketing.
shades of The Iron Giant indeed.

I know a guy who looks better in a dress than most women I've met. Then again, he was wearing it of his own accord for a special viewing of Rocky Horror Picture Show... but still.

Kurt Cobain wore a dress.

There was also a bass player in a punk rock band from Chicago, back in the '80s, who'd wear a dress while performing.
