Salad Fingers is just awful. It's like a tragic car accident that you can't stop watching.

Actually I haven't seen that yet, my sister read the book and loved it but I'm not sure if I'd rather read the book or watch the movie first...
EDIT: Just looked up a picture of the dress. Not specifically that but certainly that degree of glamorousness(?).

I know, when my sister told me her class was reading it for English I was surprised, but I was even more surprised when she said most of her friends (all girls) and she herself loved it.

Friends. Someone is really mad at our guild. They somehow got a big list of a lot of the IPs of our core raiders and systematically DDOS'd us, slowly. I ended up having my internet completely shut down for a while. It was horrible.

Re: Chat Thread 38: You Guys Are Old
God. The freaking Hunger Games.
We had to read that the summer after my sophomore year. I really liked the first book, but I didn't like the rest of the series. I never saw the movie. For anyone who's kept up with me, I was pretty emotionally numb about two days after its release. Just... yeah.
Katniss's dress: Make it that shade of red, but completely solid, no orange. It's that same mermaid shape, but it's not poofy in the skirt. And it's strapless, with sparkles (not rhinestones but something smaller) on the chest and bust of the dress. I'll post a picture of it later when I get home.
I've lost about 15 pounds since prom, by the way. My metabolism waited 17 years to kick in, but once it kicked in, it kicked in hard. I've lost 27 pounds in the last six/seven months.

If I recall correctly, it's intended to be allegorical for the self-destructive nature of society. Or something like that. The Grey Wolverine wrote:I should have been clearer, I never understood why it was such a huge thing, I mean, when its boiled down a bit, its children killing children, and I am not cool with that being a big part of a book I'm reading

The children killing each other is presented as a bad thing. Just because it exists in the book does not mean it's treated positively.

No, I know that isn't the main focus of it, but that's something I couldn't get out of my head when I tried to read it once. And now we have to read it for English. I can hardly contain my excitement. Woo hoo.

Re: Chat Thread 38: You Guys Are Old
Isn't that kind of the premise? I don't think you're supposed to get the premise out of your head. (I've never read the Hunger Games so correct me if I'm wrong).
Re: Chat Thread 38: You Guys Are Old
Haven't read them or watched the movie. It just seemed like a lord of the flies/battle royale ripoff with a bit of the Running man mixed in. Which sounds awesome, except it's relatively mainstream and meant for a younger crowd. I don't really need to see a kiddy version of the running man.

EVE is pretty ridiculous. There have also been some serious in-game robberies.

Re: Chat Thread 38: You Guys Are Old
That's awesome! I think mine was up all through highschool because I didn't exercise and ate poorly and I didn't change size, then after highschool I started putting on weight. Also, just saw the dress, it's amazing! I think the rhinestone things are called diamonties? Don't know how to spell it though...Beagle wrote:I've lost about 15 pounds since prom, by the way. Also, NEVER PLAY EVE!!!!! It...does something to people. There was a huge scandal a little while ago because one guy had his stuff destroyed and told the guy who destroyed it that he was suicidal. The destroyer then proceeded to give out this guy's information and encouraged people to harass him, telling him to kill himself and destroying as much of his stuff as possible. The worst part? Nothing happened about it. Not only was no-one kicked out or prosecuted for anything but the guy who said he was suicidal was just bluffing, it's apparently a classic bluff in the realm of EVE and so when the destroyer received the plea his immediate response was to troll the troll in the worst way possible, taking the chance and assuming that he was in fact a troll. Sorry to rant but is this how people should act in a GAME???

Re: Chat Thread 38: You Guys Are Old
EVE is a nice game, but the game is pretty grimmy since the game has a risk/reward system in play. Not that it's bad, but some people are just that crazy in the game not to lose fictional money in the game. I also blame the fact that you have a monthly subscription in the game and if you been at the game for a year and wanted a titan and lost it over one night... yeah, that would definitely suck.

Yep. Online stuff can get super serious. An example of one of these robberies: http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/10/22 ... ver-6-000/Sleet wrote:EVE is pretty ridiculous. There have also been some serious in-game robberies.
Re: Chat Thread 38: You Guys Are Old
Stuff like this is why I don't play online games. Not sure why they attract the weirdos but they just seem to. It's too bad because if it wasn't for a few exceptionally bad seeds they'd probably be pretty fun.

Yeah, that old cartoon you linked to is definitely Felix the Cat, although that is a REALLY old one, he had a lot of other cartoons in more recent years as well (and when I say recent, I mean around the 90's).
