The very fact that you attempted that may have ushered in a new culinary dark age.

When I'm reheating something, I usually use the microwave.

Though if it's something like fries or whatever, I put it in the oven.

I'll just eat fries right out of the freezer. Even the microwave can be too slow sometimes.

There are some pancakes I get from a local ma-pa eatery that I swear taste better reheated in the microwave than they even are there at the restaurant.

And on calamari - I never cared much for the fried rings you find served as an appetizer at some places, but the calamari steaks are a whole 'nuther story. http://www.ehow.com/how_4919801_healthy ... teaks.html (shows little squid that usually make the rings, and the steaks you might see served at a hibachi joint (like Benihana))

My favorite is the sweet onion chicken teryaki with everything except spinach, tomatoes, and green peppers on it. I like the sweet onion sauce and chipotle sauce on mine. Put all that on some toasted herbs and cheddar bread, and you've got a tasty sandwich. :P

I also prefer the same thing, except with ham and cheese and non-toasted bread, if I want a five dollar foot long.

Alas, after studying heat transfer at uni I can safely say that what you're asking just can't be done. I had a long descriptive reasoning for why but I thought you'd just hate me for crushing your dreams so sciencely. :( Also it was just really long and I thought people might find it annoying. I can still post it if you want though.

On the subject of chopsticks, I like using them but I only use them for appropriately chopstick invoking dishes. But you've inspired me, I think I might start using them for salads and things now...

Also, I like sandwiches but I kind of over did them recently so I'm pretty much now just having sandwiches without the bread. I can tell you, there is a huge difference, both in flavour and texture and when I get sick of salads that could be sandwiches, I'll go back to sandwiches.

I don't have a stove in my apartment so I've been living off anything microwavable and sandwiches for the past 3 weeks. That's pretty much the only thing I won't miss about Europe. (Not that I have anything against sandwiches, but living off them gets kinda old)

Verbal contracts have little legal value and are always superseded by written agreements, so Seth can theoretically still work to produce the Oven Wave.

Okay, here goes. Anyone who doesn't like science should look away now.
Ovens and microwaves use two completely separate modes of heat transfer. One is convection which is inhibited by the conductive resistance of what you're cooking. Simply speaking, no matter how hot you make the oven, the centre of what you're cooking can only be heated so quickly. The other is radiation, specifically microwave radiation (duh). This moves through the food with relative ease but it only heats the water molecules, which then heat the rest of the food. Since water is in pretty much everything food related on a molecular level, this is particularly effective, however it does make your food soggy because it excites the water molecules and brings them out of the food and then they condense when it cools. It's a very complicated piece of machinery but all it really does is heat the water in things which then heats everything else. The only other forms of radiation are either too dangerous and make the food unfit for consumption or just wouldn't work as effectively as microwave radiation.

Sorry to give Brent such a good standing in the fight against the oven wave. :(

Also I can tell you exactly why food you put in the microwave can be hot on one side and cold on the other. Actually now that I think about it, I kind of know a lot about how microwaves work. And I actually have a lab coat. You know what, screw everything I just said! We're making this thing!
