I think you really got the friendship between King and Fox here. The story isn't very humorous, but it's certainly very compelling as a character piece.

This story has absolutely no place in canon but oh my dog was this a fun read. I was sorely tempted to make you the winner anyway, but decided against it when it went too far. Still, really excellent stuff.

FIRST PLACE: TWO_TWIG

This story is fun, funny, and also very much like what I wanted from the setup. There are some editing issues, but now since editing is included in the winner's package, it makes it the best story for the frame. Thanks for doing my work for me! I mean, I hope you had fun!

Prize: Story edited and published in Housepets Book 2, both parts of the story illustrated, $50 (or equivalent amount in commissions), and a Housepets t-shirt or flat-color commission!


HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Indagare - I was pretty close to picking this story because it was well-written and also hit the right notes, though it didn't have quite the amount of scope I would have liked. (Not mouthwash)

Buckdida - Prequel story with original characters; very entertaining, but completely outside the frame of the contest.

angelusbr - You're still learning, but let me tell you that your story in its ideal form would have come THE CLOSEST to everything I wanted from All The King's Men.

I knew I wouldn't be picked as the winner, but I never expected to get an honorable mention sicne there were many other good stories. I still have a long way to go to be a good writter.
But, as Valerio said, I can die happy now.
