No. Only the specific chatroom has to apply to the rules since it derived from the forum and/or its members, with the point in mind of relating it to this site.
The server itself is totally unrelated to housepets.com and any of its products and members.
Actually, I could open a room there called Housepets and it wouldn't have to follow the rules here at all as long as it isn't connected to here.

I'm just pointing out the rules. You already advertised your server on the forums, and presented it as non-PG13. Sure, it's your server, do with it what you want - nobody can stop you. But I really suggest not telling the name of the chatroom you'd use, because that would really break the rule I quoted, and it would result in a ban. It's just an advice - I don't care how you take it.

I think what he means is if someone decides to use your server, the channel they'd use, lets say #Housepets would be PG, not breaking any of the rules set here.

You have got to be kidding me, right? In your second last post here you said "If you want, you can use that server instead". What else are they going to use it for than for talking? And talking is done in a chatroom. And since you said:

No, I'm not kidding. You can use IRC chatrooms for far more than just talking.
And by more freedom I meant:
-You can have more OPER rights on the server globally which you can't have on gamesurge.

He's offering for us to use his server for IRC, rather than Gamesurge's server. On his server, OPER's would have more control and power over the room. On Gamesurge, things can be more limited to save bandwidth and such.

The server is different from the channel.

The server is where things can be hosted. Multiple things. Multiple channels. Our one single channel would have the specific rules that we need.

I think you're misunderstanding Shinmera, Alex. He's saying we can use his server, but we can make our own chatroom, separate from whatever chatroom Shinmera has for his own ends. Further, he's said the server's name...NOT the channels on the server that could break our rules. The only way to find those channels would be to research them on his site or guess them...either way, you're looking for them.



Of course, ideally, the IRC would be run on the Housepets server and be made official! But I don't know how much of a strain that would put on server, and Rick's already said he doesn't want much to do with the IRC. So this is a good alternative.

When it's said and done, however, Alex runs the IRC; it's not official and it's up to him to decide as a result. Not me.

Okay, Buck, calm down, I already apologized in IRC. I'm not perfect, and when he said "You can do whatever you want", I thought of non-PG13 stuff. Sorry.

Also, it's not up to me to decide. If Shin wants to create a channel on his server, then he can do it... that's all there is to it.

Thanks for saying what I obviously couldn't put that nicely. I really hate that I can't put my thoughts down to words so that everyone can understand it >.<
Anyway, I'm basically not even offering that service to get known more, it's just because I somehow want to burn those 5tb of traffic I have for my server every month. And right now I'm not even using 1% of that. I doubt that the IRC will change that significantly but eh, at least it's being used.
About an "official" IRC: Is the HP server even a V- or Root-Server? Because if not, it wouldn't even be possible to run IRC on it.

So yeah, I put myself into that IRC stuff again and got the Server running nicely now.
All I would need to get is that the channel is made official.
And that's something I can't do since I'm not the one "responsible" for which Channel/Server should be used.
So yeah, if the current admins join on the server, I'll give you the needed rights.
I won't be an admin/op in the channel there because frankly, I wouldn't know what I would want to do anyway.
I'll also give the channel owner title to Alex or to whoever will be in charge there.

@Alex: So no, it's still up to you to decide since you spawned all this and you are sort of the "manager" of this. You'll need to decide whether we should use gamesurge or tymoon and change or leave the information in your first post as well as inform everyone.

I don't really mind moving to that server, but I'm still not really sure why. This one works really well, and there isn't anything I want that I can't have here, but can have on yours. All I need as an admin are the devoice, kick, ban and topic options. Luckily, I use the first three very rarely, because you guys behave .

So yeah, if you could give me an example of something I can have on yours and not on GameSurge, tell me.
