I've never done this willfully, really. There are certain parts of you that do eventually disappear, though, For example, ones use of smilies in text. If we're talking about the phrase "locking away part of yourself", I suppose it could be a metaphor by a stretch, considering it implies that parts of yourself are a physical object that can be locked behind a door. I dunno... I'm too tired to classify figurative language right now.
