Yay Joey arc this should be fun. Lester (I think that is the first time one of his friends had a name) is mad at the previews

To be fair, Lester is the only one who's made enough appearances to warrant a name.

Wow--Joey's been in so few arcs (at least in big roles) that I guess I didn't realize this wasn't a one-off....

So his friend's name is Lester. My reaction to his comment was more or less what Joey's was.

Something tells me there's more to the arc than just Joey, but i wanna see a Joey arc too.

Also, Horror movies.

I saw Princess Mononoke In Japanese but with the English subs I had from the English dub'd version.

they really did butcher it,
parts where the character silently walks away with no words needing to be said, but the subs going: "I'm going now, goodbye"

Wait, is this strip actually a reference to Princess Mononoke, or are you just telling a related anecdote?

It's a reference to what an unrelenting Japanophile Lester is and typical fanboy reaction to seeing their favorite anime (or any anime, really) dubbed into English

but I'm sure you knew that

Yes, I was aware of that. I just wasn't sure if the strip was being specific in movie that caused said reaction

Maybe it's a arc about Joey 'n' friends, or its like the themepark one, where it shows different characters at the same place.
SO MANY WAYS THIS COULD TURN OUT /caps

Hmmmm, this arc could be about all the pets in the neighborhood watching this movie, or if the arc will just pop in on random pets watching other movies. Though I agrees with Cobra it would be nice if this turned out to be a Joey arc.

...Do you actually support that or are you just being silly? 'Cause considering how people are on the internet it's hard to type.

And if so... To think you got after me for supporting Grapenut.

They're watching an English translation of an anime movie. Joey's friend Lester is obsessed with Japanese culture (at least relating to animation) and hates Western animation. He overreacted to a Disney preview.

Which is rather silly when it comes down to it.

Yes, I know that's the point.

Quoted for truth. It's really consistent. Whoever does the 'official' subtitling work for Ghibli does not know how to do it, and it makes them awesome. I crack up so hard watching any of their movies subbed because there is always at least one point in the movie where no character is even so much as making noise, and yet there will be a subtitle saying something random. It is incredible.

Now the only strip tagged with "Joey's creepy friends" is the D&D one. So now he only has one unnamed creepy friend.

Finally Joey appeared once again :)

So now we know officialy what is the name if his (creepy) friend. But will poor Lester manage somehow to forget about the trauma of Disney previews?

Actually he is one of my favorite characters : D I just love rude, mean and weirdos.
