What a riveting plot! Also, I'm very easily imagining Rodney's cub is still smiling.

Hmm, I wonder why I am now noticing multiple characters that have something done to their ears, instead of just Max. I think it's time to go back and re-read the archives...

How do keep coming up with so many fitting phrases so fast?

He has a lot of time,
this warrior old and patient.
A battleswept past
to the peaceful now has come.
He considers every word
they hear in their inner ear
and every idea they gain
listening at his knee.
They're his clan, he'll tell no lie,
and he their history at last.
They hear his story in the silence;
they hear it in the heart.

Such a funny story, and brilliantly told too! Looks like I got my wish to hear from Uncle Dead-Eye, although "hear from" might be a bit of an overstatement. :)

Uncle Deadeye is the best in story telling. His stories are so fascinating, so stirring, and thrilling - it's incredible. Could listen to him all the day.

Are there two of Rodney's cubs today?

Oh, he's silent for now... until he remembers the tale where he helped fight evil wedding cakes, killer venus fly traps and recover the seven staaaaaaaars!

Like how he sits down and doesn't say a word.

Deadeye's actually half dolphin. He communicates through telepathy. Everything makes sense now.

Ah, always good to hear the history of your elders. The cubs must be learning a lot!

Sometimes, if you listen to the silence people make instead of the sound, you can hear unspoken volumes of their past, their secrets, and their very being. Listen to the silence, and you will know all you ever need.

Uncle Deadeye is so mysterious and awesome at the same time! ;) An interesting question to do to him is "tell us the story how you defeated Jata", hoping that he wants to reply instead to have to imagine everything... :D
Three stories asks so far, and no real info known... Probably, we comic readers won't know anything new from the cubs' questions. :P

Anyway, always one of them (the female with green eyes) has been clearly visible.

It's a good thing only his ear got caught in that industrial wood chipper. However I am sad that the lemming wasn't so lucky. I kinda liked him.
