I hear Europeans, for instance, tend to dislike root beer. They are objectively wrong.

Well, for those readers who are unfamiliar with Japanese cuisine and culture, Udon (wheat flour noodles -- think spaghetti, more or less) is prepared in more than a dozen ways. Among the more popular styles served as noodle soup are Kitsune Udon, with aburaage or deep-fried tofu on top (as @Kyuubi Kitsune would prefer), and Tanuki Udon, with bits of deep-fried tempura batter sprinkled on top (as @rickgriffin mentioned).

Anyway, it's great to see Itsuki Kitamura again!

When my English teacher was describing his trip to Cambodia over Mid-Winter Break, he talked about the foods he ate- grilled tarantula, snake, and I think he also had frog. One girl was nearly throwing up. Imagine her shock when I mentioned that dog meat is considered a delicacy in some cultures...

Actually we have some drinks, which are similar to root beer (at least in Germany). Not the same, but similar.
Although I never had the chance to drink root beer, I think the drink that comes closest to it would be Malzbier (in english malt beer)

Tempura is fried batter. Which is better.

I for one am willing to try any exotics. I have enjoyed sheeps brains, a sweetish taste to them, however verry fatty. And testicals taste alot like kidneys. we have a thing called 'boerewors' which is pretty much minced meat and guts enclosed in the intestine of the animal which is anywhere between 6ft and 12ft. very yummy and we all love it here in S.A.

Fear factor, bah . Bring on the grub.

I never tried root beer. Would like to, but it's something you can't get here easily.
The Brits are known to like strage things. XD If I only think of bloodpudding or haggis... But on the other side, Fish'n'Chips, Chips with vinegar - never thought of that before, great! - the sausages for breakfast, ... But then again ... warm beer :x

The strangest thing I had while living in Southampton was something frozen that looked familiar like sausages. They've been slightly pink and I thought it's the color of the meat. I didn't really know what to do with them. I tried boiling but the result was a) pink water and b) grey wobbly stinking and terribly tasting things. Then I tried frying, I ended up with brown not so wobbly stinking and terrible tasting things. First boiling and then frying didn't change that either.

Same for me, but only mineral water, please. I tend to dislike alcoholic drinks, but I use to drink sparkling wine every new year beginning, not reaching King's like drunkenness. ;) My shame level should be high, then. :P
This root beer is practically unknown to the most here, and if it's liked or not, should be a self judgement... It's made from sassafras's roots, and they're carcinogen and were banned, are they? We have our artiginal beers, anyway.

Sometimes American culture and uses look more weird than Japanese ones.

YES! It WAS Barqs! Tried it as a little kid. One thing I've learned in my psychology classes is that often times it only takes one bad experience to renounce things like that. You know, I've never tried cream sodas, but they have interested me.

Also, this has been quite the interesting thread discussion.
