Oh, wait, it's true! I did understand the alt-text. The rest still seems to be extremely unclear to me.

The title is a reference to comedian Bill Engvall.

And what does this last phrase about the 'moss patch' mean? Reference to the same comedian once again, or something else?

I doubt they have too much of a grasp on the value of money, considering how new they are to human culture.
Jack has a very good grasp, I daresay.

Thank you, Mr Griffin, but I'm still unclear about the whole dialog on the fourth panel, and of who is that Bill Engall guy?

Me: Welcome Mister!!! Visit the Welcome to the forums thread to present yourself, and remember that impersonating real-life individuals is against forum rules.
Voice-off: Uuuh, but Poncho isn't real!
Me: (Puts his fist on his ears) Shadupp! Shadupp! Shadupp! Shadupp! (runs off crying)

From context, it's like Lucretia and Elaine's mother pulled too hard and the baby and/or Lucretia went flying and landed in a moss patch.

Rick calls them cubs. "Cub" is used by many for wolves.

Bill Engvall is part of "Blue Collar Comedy" with Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and Ron White.

I was associating "Here's your sign" with the corresponding German translation wich is part of short stories about people asking stupid questions and receive a sign that says "I am an idiot" so everybody else is warned.

Now after searching for Bill Engvall and "Here's your sign", I learned that the German stories I know are just translations. :D

Hi guys I'm new to this forum and I'm gonna ask some questions:

First, for later comics, could Rick draw the time when Snow having progress of birthing, because births make me curious and I like to watch those videos on YouTube :D (I've also watch wolf too) Hope you didn't mind, don't mock me plz! (Contractions is what I like in birthing, no I'm male!)

Second, why Jack's right hand has been amputate? Is he had an accident or something?

And finally, can I ask Rick to draw a character sketch of preggie Snow?? :D

Sorry about my longpost, about the episode: Well, I'm sure Snow and King will be fine :)

I think an arc on giving birth would be a little risky on the rating, but if it's been done with sitcoms, I'm sure Rick could, if he decides it's actually something he wants to do, theoretically do it.

We don't know what happened to his arm. That could be something Rick plans to explore later, or it could be a mystery forever.

Rick isn't currently doing character sketches, and if/when he starts again I doubt she's important enough of a character to be a priority. The next time Rick opens up commissions you're welcome to try to commission him if he's willing.

Correct. Both "cub" and "pup" are valid words for young wolves.
Poncho the wolf wrote:i am trying to find an avatar picture of poncho, can someone tell me how to get it
You just save the comic to your computer and open it in an image editing program, crop the section you want, resize it to fit within 100x100, and upload it. If you don't have the familiarity with image editing to do it yourself, you just ask and someone else will probably make it for you. I'd do it except I'm about to go somewhere and don't have time. If no one did it for you by the time I check HP! again, I'll go ahead and do it.

I personally wouldn't really want to see that, and I also don't think that'll be ok for a PG rated comic.

Well... technically he just asks Rick to draw the time... so i think for example "10:35 pm" doesn't really hurt the PG rating

Yeah but they never show the gory horror show that is birth, or even the baby before it's cleaned off. Its always the baby in the blanket being given to the mom. And if Rick decides to do something like that, then ok I'll read it, but if it's like a natural wolf birth I won't.

Fear not, for blood is against PG ratings and, therefore, Rick can't draw it until he changes the rating of the webcomic.

Next week on Housepets, rating is now PG-13. :P

Seriously though, I'd be terrified of seeing a birth. Pain, blood, and other things, plus that much stretching? <No, thanks>

It's better to leave a birth scene off-panel and showing the expecting father in this case get worked up about it. They are always gems. =3 ... Unless somehow they are perfectly calm.

Yikes, we seem to have deviated from the current strip quite a bit! These requests should really be done via PM to a mod or Rick himself, and I doubt an actual childbirth will ever be done in this comic. Also, if y'all have any questions, feel free to PM a mod! We love talking to people, and are really nice guys and/or gals who are here to help.

As for the comic, I do believe this will be a great garage sale. Yes, it is a junk sale, but I consider garage, yard, and junk sales to be quite the same thing...

That is one scary midwife. :?

I'm no mod, but I don't like where this conversation is going. And P.S. part of your request is already done. But seriously, can we move on before the Mods have to start deleting posts? We're already pushing the limits...

On topic: I think Jack's sign says "JUNK SHOW" rather than "JUNK SHOP". (Caps only for emphasis.) it could be "shop", but Rick seems like a better writer than that...usually...oh deer...

Hahaha.. Thx for all of replies! :D Well, after viewing all replies after mine, about Snow birthing, right it's violating PG rating, so it's my bad.. I'll send a PM to Rick Griffin for that.. The account name is RickGriffin, right? So I can request Snow birthing :D , but in silhoutte and speech balloons only..

Cuz I know some of you guys know that birth is gross thing.. Sorry if I'm dissapoints all you guys.. :|

I clicked that link so many times now. Poncho is so rescued that Blockbusters themselves will help him. I know they don't move blocks, but I convinced them it's in their nametag. They might even give him a free movie rental while they are at it for his troubles.

Update: Well, I made an slight miscalculation, but I think I managed to get the message through:

It's this kind of arc that makes me scream over weekends about HP being a non-daily comic. How will the wolves get themselves out of this set of crazy hijinks?

Based on a conversation I had with him during the last Christmas arc, I know he's got a backstory drawn up for all the wolves, including Poncho and Five-Finger-Discount. I dunno if he's going to make it public anytime soon though...
