why is every human in this comic (mostly)faceless except for Joel?
Re: One Offs Set #24: Art is a Lie!!
I get this feeling that Duchess and Lester are related. or at least have the same owner.
two things: A) Is Sasha usually outshined by the other she-dogs i wonder? B) Do Cats go to that salon? :O

What she said in the second and fourth panels.Foxstar wrote:Which part? She said a few things.ChewyChewy wrote:But could someone please explain this thing to me...? I couldn't understand half of what Duchess was saying....
Specifically "You just contradicted yourself, dear" and "I'd explain but apparently I set unrealistic standards for intelligence".
She is right about "feminism being for humans", though, as with canines there is practically no difference at all. They even have separate male and female hierarchies in a wolf pack.

well, Sasha said that using cutesy terms is demeaning and endearing, two qualities that can't quite work together.ChewyChewy wrote:Specifically "You just contradicted yourself, dear" and "I'd explain but apparently I set unrealistic standards for intelligence".
the unrealistic standards for intelligence is referring to the fact that Sasha doesn't know how Duchess can tell the difference between male and female dogs, a way which is quite obvious, but can't quite be mentioned in a PG comic.

Re: One Offs Set #24: Art is a Lie!!
The funny thing is, while that would normally be obvious, it is not obvious to us with most of the character designs in the comic. For example, think about Grape! yeah, but the implication that, in their world, it's somewhat obvious (what Duchess said and Grape wondering how Peanut didn't know she was a girl when they're naked all the time) is still there. so it while gender isn't that obvious to us, we still know that it should be obvious to them.Buckdida wrote:The funny thing is, while that would normally be obvious, it is not obvious to us with most of the character designs in the comic. Don't male and female dogs and cats tend to smell different?

Yes, but...Grape's a CAT. Rick has a thing for gender ambiguity of cats in his comic: Grape, Fiddler and Keys, the Mr. Bigglesworths....Buckdida wrote:The funny thing is, while that would normally be obvious, it is not obvious to us with most of the character designs in the comic. I haven't seen that with dogs. When in doubt, check for eyelashes.

This may just be my mind wandering, but Duchess makes me think of KING, what with her color pattern, the expression on her face, and even her name.
I doubt this will happen but what if King and Duchess met at some point, maybe took an interest in each other, maybe that somehow influenced King's decision? I don't know, I doubt it, but my mind wanders....

She's clearly related to King. And she's Great Kitsune's avatar, because Great Kitsune and Pete were brothers, but not literally; they served together back in 'Nam.

silly comic reboots you are so stupid (except for maybe the original crisis which at the time really needed to happen)

No, no it didn't. If DC could have just been okay with a multiverse everything would have been fine.IceKitsune wrote: silly comic reboots you are so stupid (except for maybe the original crisis which at the time really needed to happen)

Or, if they had a finale and started over, as in actually started over instead of have an out where they sorta loosely tie everything back in. I mean, that's what they do with their cartoon series, which as far as I'm concerned, are almost all put together much better than the comics universe.

Oh please Superman alone needed that reboot he was completely ridiculous at the time, there was no way to really fix him power wise except maybe kill him and bring him back but that would have been unlikely as he was basically a god who could do anything he wanted.Indagare wrote:No, no it didn't. I believe DC is doing a multiverse-wide reboot. I think it's DC? I'm not sure. I'm not big on comics either.copper wrote:Hmm. Re: One Offs Set #24: Art is a Lie!!
DC is doing some sort of semi-reboot thing where all the big named characters (and all of the smaller named ones too I think) origins will be rebooted and retold and some of there previous canon will be gotten rid of (but not all of it which is what this comic is talking about) and they will continue from there telling stories. Of course none of this will work right and every thing will end up being a complete mess, due to writers not talking to each other about whats canon and what not; plus editors messing with stuff as well, and in a year to a year and a half they will need to do yet another reboot style thing to fix it.Sleet wrote:I believe DC is doing a multiverse-wide reboot.
