Animals naturally eat mice. Life was never meant to see pumpkins. coffee, and Mexican food combined.
Plus that mouse was just being annoying I mean come on he asked for it
IIRC, She actually killed that mouse before eating it (notes the little Xs on the un-patched eye). It was the little bird that she and Max found that was still alive... even after she stomped on it. :P

I thought about what I would do if my guess turned out to be right, finally I realized that there was nothing really to so, unless I was a sociopathic egotistical self-centered abnoxious moron during which case howling in all caps with an insanely large font about how right I was is really the only option. In fact, even if I was wrong it'd still be the only option, only instead of celebrating my own genius and correctness it would be accusing Rick of changing the storyline after the fact specifically to avoid me being right. Yeah, it's a conspiracy. Yeah :P

Alex wrote:That could be true. Who else would write something that cats (and cat-lovers) love than a cat him/herself? But maybe Miss Auburn is taking the credit because she doesn't want Res to deal with the publicity. Maybe even Res asked her to do that, looking at how shy he/she is.
It looks more like his/her "owner" is a hard-tail who borderline abuses Res.

I'm only hoping Max returns in time to get in line with Grape. Of course, if he DID return in the nick of time, i would guess he would come at a awkward moment and think "...Grape personally knows the author of Pridelands? <3"

I am such an idiot. I still don't get the name. A PM with a more detailed explanation than the tags would be very helpful.

Anywho, Grape just found out one secret, but can she handle another, more revealing, revelation?

Things are moving along quite nicely. I hope Grape can wrangle a little private face time with Ms. Auburn out of Res.

OK

Between the comic and the comments, there is a little section where Rick puts the title, his name, the date, any comments HE wants to make, the "share this" button, and "The Tags"

In the tags, Rick tags EVERYONE who is in the comic. Supposedly, clicking on one of these will give you a list of all the comics with the same tag. Since the tag is just the characters name, we get to know the names of all the characters in any one strip, even if their name has not been spoken IN the comic. It is way cool :D

THANK YOU. When everyone was saying tags, I thought they meant the tags on the pets' collars!

I was wondering how people got the name Res from a Maple Leaf.

Actually, there are quite a few people just like you who have NO idea what we're talking about. :D
Which is why I addressed ALL those peoples. *nod nod*

Go forth with this new knowledge and prosper ;)

On topic: Despite it being a retcon, I actually prefer the gold leaf to the green. I think I looks nicer :)

Don't know if anyone's noticed this yet, but Res is Latin for "Thing", though this is probably coincedintial. Also notice he doesn't havet he typical Almond shaped eyes that the other cats have (besides Max and Grape)

Edit: Nevermind, I was dumb and didn't pay attention. >_<;

The first thing I noticed was the retcon.

The second thing I noticed was this:

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that only that could make Res any cooler.

So Res is a guy? Sorry, but when I first saw Grape I thought she was a male.
Anyway, I foresee Grape acting just like Peanut in front of Res.

Or perhaps to put "say what comes natural" another way, Res has to think about coherent character dialog, Grape just knows. I can see the gears turning in Res's head, but you really can't engage in conversation the same way you pound out dialog ;)

Gold looks nice, but green was nice too, I think the problem was it... does it look enough like a maple leaf? I mean, I don't know what else it could be (short of getting malicious). And the old image for the previous comic was still cached, causing some confusion as to what "retconning" was referring to...

In my head I pronounce its name as "Rez," but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be pronounced "Ress."

Wouldn't those sound the same?
Sinder wrote:Well, Pridelands itself doesn't appear to have any human characters; everyone is a lion or a bird or a hyena or maybe a dragon. Human readers might find it more to their liking if there were characters they could relate to, but for the moment, it appears to be primarily nothing but beefcake for cats like Grape.
They could target furries.

Possibly not in your accent, but in mine, "Rez" is like the first syllable in resurrection, whereas "Ress" is like rest without the T.

Logic and facts aren't likely to get in the way of questionable fan speculation. I like it in its current color anyway.

It kind of reminds me of Eight Bit Theater, where Thief changed his outfit's color not only in the present, but in the past as well. Except this was canon and not just the author's decision.

Res (the Latin word) is listed on dictionary.com as being pronounced "reez" or "reys". The page has a link with a voice clip saying it. The "reys" pronunciation comes pretty close to what Sleet is talking about.

Also, is this coffee shop on a balcony overlooking the lobby?
