When I sit down to draw I typically remember all the work for friends, family, and employers and then I just go... ugh... *laughs* I do have days where I draw a lot cause I have the time to and forgetting to eat is a constant and shows good focus! When looking at faces, it's about proportioning more than the underlying box or square.... I'm kinda dumb with terminology but I had the same problems you're having. To draw things in different angles but have it retain its shape you need underlying structures... I'll make an example of how I do it....

Zander... hmm... I'd say I like your old style, but I like your new one too. The thing that is important is to be able to shift to lots of styles but still maintain your own flair to them, so I'd say practice both! :3 Keep it up, they look great!
