    OCD Raccoons. *giggles*

    • Salenstormwing

That’s what makes them adorable. That and the fact they don’t know how to drive a stick-shift.

    • Peanut

Face it, if you lived in the wild for years you’d wash your hands too.

      • thefirstonethere

huh, i thought they were washing dishes…. im confused.

        • Masque

It’s a raccoon thing. They’re notorious in the real world for washing their food and/or their paws in a stream or pond before eating.

And if you look closely, that’s a fish tank. n.n

          • thefirstonethere

Thank you for the clarification. However, there is what appears to be a faucet. Which makes it hard to believe that it is a fish tank.

      • Argent Stonecutter

I think they’re washing the lobsters.

Raccoons hunt for shellfish and the like in shallow water. Tame raccoons, that don’t get to hunt, will play with food in water in a way that looks like they’re washing it.

        • pb98

wow…how did you know what a tame raccoon acts like?

          • Argent Stonecutter

I did know someone with pet raccoons many years ago, but was never privileged to watch them eat. They were pretty friendly, and dangerously curious about my backpack… luckily for me they didn’t have opposable thumbs. I recall their fur feeling paradoxically soft and coarse at the same time.

          • pb98

that is extremely facinating and boring at the same time so i have a very perplexed reaction right now

      • Jman552

Why does Peanut have King as a Gravitar….

  2. Xane

Truck! Falstaff! For shame! Your instincts are showing!

    • Perfesser_Bear
      • Tarka TGO

It seems there’s a TvTrope for everything… But it’s still funny as all heck.

        • Silly Zealot

That’s the point of tv tropes: If a plot device is repeated several times, a trope will be created to classify it, like everything humns encounter more than once in real life.
“My instincts are showing” is one of the tropes that makes me smile EVERY SINGLE time it happens anywhere.

  3. B.Squirrel

Keeping their hands clean of the issue, I see.

  4. IceKitsune

    Silly Raccoons XD

  5. Gabe23

    I see …. a broom … to the face

    • Duck'n

Let’s hope, i will keep my fingers crossed!

  6. skarroth

I absolutely love these two. They make such a great pair.

    • Silly Zealot

I just noticed Falstaff (where does that name come from?) has brown around his nose and Truck doesn’t.

      • Kazekoe

Falstaff actually comes from a few of Shakespeare’s plays, namely Henry the IV and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Portrayed as a large, foolish man who knows less about everything then he actually thinks he does.

        • Argent Stonecutter

He’s also generally portrayed as large in the “stout” sense, like Truck, rather than tall and skinny like Fal.

  7. GeckoZY

They should wait till it’s cooked, then grab some XD

    • xhunterko

They would wash their hands even IF it was cooked.

  8. SpiderdaSquirrel

    Les Raton Laveurs

  9. Marco

Wow really impressed with those two! You GO silly Raccoons! X3

  10. xhunterko

    I sympathize little guys. Heh.

    • xhunterko

Nuh uh! I wash my hands of this!

      • Silly Zealot

Well, while washing their hands, I suspect they’ll face a failure of Biblical proportions, haha! “Gets clubbed”

  11. Kohaku Nightfang

Well they don’t know where their paws have been. They gotta make sure they are sparkly clean before eating :P

  12. D-Rock

Nothing gets in the way of keeping clean!

  13. Tech

Great team work, only a real team can fail together and still think they are helping eachother

  14. Marco

They cleaned them and right before they eat them with pleasure, Fox comes into the picture or Grape! *Not amused look* :P

  15. Skarroth

They wanna make sure they make a clean getaway :3

  16. Duck'n

At least there paws will be clean when the crawfish is done cooking.

  17. Valerio

AT: So early in the morning, mid-day, afternoon, evening and deep into the night

    • Silly Zealot

      I don’t get it. :(

      • Dragonlord354

this is the way we wash our hand wash our hands wash our hands, this is the way we wash our hands so early in the morning.

        its a children’s song refrence

        • Silly Zealot

          Your explanation is apreciated.
It’s good to have personal hygiene.

  18. Valerio

    Just whistle while you wash…

  19. *wolfiejaypaw*

You know with my uncles racoon we gave him sugar cubes
And watched him do the same thing :D

    • Silly Zealot

Hahaha! Hope he likes sugar water!
Awww, now I feel tempted to look for a pet coati ( what? I live in south america! YOU go find a racoon here!).

  20. RockstarRaccoon

    I GET IT.
No, really, I do: raccoons are known for compulsively “washing” their food sometimes. Actually, this is them inspecting and preparing their food, as water makes their fingers more sensitive and they don’t have the saliva to wetten it.

    • Silly Zealot

Thanks, super coon! Your racoon knoledge superpowers save the day once again! No saliva, you say? That’s hard life!

      • Jesk

        Yeah I know.
But Hey.. on the bright side..
Raccoons like me never wake in a puddle of drool.

    • Raska

it’s what their scientific name “Procyon lotor” comes from. Also in several languges. The german word for raccoon is “Waschbar” (there’s a diacritic over the second a, I don’t feel like trying to remember the alt code for it…just imagine the two little dots)

      • Argent Stonecutter

        You’re welcome.

        • Raska

          b-but *imagin-a-tion*

          • Argent Stonecutter

It’s easier on the Mac: you hit alt-u then a. On Linux it’s usually AltGr-” then a. Why Microsoft makes you memorize decimal keycodes I have no idea. When I used Windows extensively, I bought a lovely little plug-in that provided mnemonic keystrokes.

  21. Vuk91

Brush your teeth too racoons! Instinct commands!

  22. CHAOKOCartoons

so you know to wash your food, BUT WHAT ABOUT YOUR TEETH??? ;)

    • Silly Zealot

Never!!!! Piercing in the ears were once the latest fashion, now it’s holes on the teeth.

      • Raska

ow. The visual image of tooth-piercings made my teeth hurt

  23. shade

these two are growing on me. so funny. they’d risk getting caught while washing.

  24. GameCobra

    *Washing hands*
    *Grape attacks*

  25. Jman552

    Time to guess what happens….

Theory 1. The Racoons get caught and get broom faced

    2. Falstaff said something about not being housebroken and not “Pet worthy” or some crap. They end up becoming pets?

    3. They escape the party with all of the clams and the party is ruined.

    be pretty upset :(

    • shade

just letting you know its not clams…its crawfish.

    • Jesk

      What about option 4?

they get caught but in a moment of pity..
or simply upset at how his party’s not being the cat bash of the decade…
Max invites the raccoons to stay as official guests, with the threat of Grape making sure they share.

      • CWFang

i like option 4….. though option 2 is also good

        • Silly Zealot

Option 2, please! Give them to me!!!!!

  26. WingedWolfGirl

    Instinct overrules necessity. XD

  27. Draven

Are they washing paws or the crayfish?

    • thebrokeartist

I think they’re trying to catch the crawfish.

    • shade

if they were trying to catch the crawfish then why is the word “wash” repeated over and over?

      • thebrokeartist

They’re trying to catch the crawfish but their natural instincs kick in before they could do it.

        • Draven

Raccoons are instinctual paw washers? I never suspected hygiene would be so important to an animal that rummages through trash. Although, in hindsight, I guess it makes sense.

          • Frank

They wash the food, actually. No one seems to know why

    • Argent Stonecutter

Crayfish. Google for “raccoon wash food”.

  28. Hotep the psychic

well that’s disappointing for them both either way you look at it. if there washing there hands what will happen next, if there catching crawfish they failed already.
    *rubs crystal ball*

  29. Bear

This is great and so true to raccoons. Well if they aren’t caught next will be catching the crawfish then washing it before they can escape.

  30. Z24

Housepets, now with educative lessons for the kids!

  31. Frank

We’ve seen the dogs act like dogs and the ferrets act like ferrets. Now we get to see the racoons acting like racoons! I aproove!

  32. Solario the Visored

I wanna see Truck attempt to extract some little bits of food from inside a water jug! :D

  33. Perfesser_Bear

So, from Truck and Falstaff’s point of view, what’s worse:
    • Getting caught by Fox again, or,
    • Getting caught by Grape the first time?

    • Duck'n

Correct me if i am wrong but I believe Grape has chased them off before, with a broom no less. It was a very early comic which was … *looks at the arc section* arc #4 the raccoons.

    • CWFang

yes very early, and i thought it was on the 4th stripe where she broomed falstaff to the face

  34. TinFoilHats

Hey, it’s good to wash your hands(so’s that you don’t create some new disease and cause a global pandemic. That won’t be fun).

  35. Valerio

wut’s that…spot on the left corner under the sink?

    • Khazix

That’s actually something I noticed too. *shrugs* Some kinda handle?

    • Draven

The faucet, or the brown and black fuzzy bit?

      • Valerio

the brown and black fuzzy bit

        • Draven

Well it’s clearly a brown and black fuzzy bit. What’s not to understand?

  36. Khazix

Really hope these raccoons become regular main characters. I’m lovin’ em.

  37. ImpCraft13

not likely, but we may foucse on them for awile…
wait, how did they get in? back door? :D

  38. Argent Stonecutter

What’s that brown and black blobby thing half hidden by the countertop?

    • TinFoilHats

I know, I’ve been wondering that meself

    • Skarroth

A sneaky broom to the face I bet xD

    • Duck'n

Hmm.. not sure what that is really, buut i will also wager its a broom/mop handle.

  39. AleColin

I wonder what the Raccoons are washing, and the brown things on the water looks like fish or shrimps.

  40. Z24

Oh my Max, the crawfish are so clean. You really made it this time honey :3

  41. Vuk91

Listen to the instinct, loyal racoons, instinct is always right!

  42. NotZeBunker

“is the way the gentleman rids *clip* *clop* *clip* *clop*

this is the way the farmer rides *clip* *clop* *clip* *clop*

this is the way the racer rides *clip* *clop* *clip* *clop*

Heh, that was a nice trip down memory lane. Carry on.

  43. aicivilwar

Um… did Grape just go out to the pantry? If so, she’ll probably be back in just a minute. The question is just how good her mood is at the moment. Will she broom the coons, or just invite them to stay? I mean, really… there are already more non-cats there than cats, so what would be so wrong with inviting some more? Also, if the coons receive an invite they wouldn’t have to go through all the trouble of trying to steal. And if they didn’t have to steal they wouldn’t have to worry about getting caught. If they didn’t have to worry about getting caught they could relax and enjoy the party. And if they could enjoy the party they might start thinking of how it might be better inside the fence instead of outside. And that could lead to all kinds of possibilities.

    • CHAOKOCartoons

I’m glad other people are agreeing to this possibility. I mean, th is just seems to lead to a bunch of awsome things!

  44. FluxCapacity

I’m not sure if I like the background and the styling of the house. It seems–unlike Housepets.

    • Jman552

Yeah it looks like it’s a junker house. It also looks like Rick spilled some ink everywhere.
