OCD Raccoons. *giggles*
That’s what makes them adorable. That and the fact they don’t know how to drive a stick-shift.
Face it, if you lived in the wild for years you’d wash your hands too.

It’s a raccoon thing. They’re notorious in the real world for washing their food and/or their paws in a stream or pond before eating.
And if you look closely, that’s a fish tank. n.n
Thank you for the clarification. However, there is what appears to be a faucet. Which makes it hard to believe that it is a fish tank.
I think they’re washing the lobsters.
Raccoons hunt for shellfish and the like in shallow water. Tame raccoons, that don’t get to hunt, will play with food in water in a way that looks like they’re washing it.

I did know someone with pet raccoons many years ago, but was never privileged to watch them eat. They were pretty friendly, and dangerously curious about my backpack… luckily for me they didn’t have opposable thumbs. I recall their fur feeling paradoxically soft and coarse at the same time.

It seems there’s a TvTrope for everything… But it’s still funny as all heck.
That’s the point of tv tropes: If a plot device is repeated several times, a trope will be created to classify it, like everything humns encounter more than once in real life.
“My instincts are showing” is one of the tropes that makes me smile EVERY SINGLE time it happens anywhere.
Keeping their hands clean of the issue, I see.

I absolutely love these two. They make such a great pair.
I just noticed Falstaff (where does that name come from?) has brown around his nose and Truck doesn’t.
Falstaff actually comes from a few of Shakespeare’s plays, namely Henry the IV and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Portrayed as a large, foolish man who knows less about everything then he actually thinks he does.
He’s also generally portrayed as large in the “stout” sense, like Truck, rather than tall and skinny like Fal.
They should wait till it’s cooked, then grab some XD

No, really, I do: raccoons are known for compulsively “washing” their food sometimes. Actually, this is them inspecting and preparing their food, as water makes their fingers more sensitive and they don’t have the saliva to wetten it.

it’s what their scientific name “Procyon lotor” comes from. Also in several languges. The german word for raccoon is “Waschbar” (there’s a diacritic over the second a, I don’t feel like trying to remember the alt code for it…just imagine the two little dots)

It’s easier on the Mac: you hit alt-u then a. On Linux it’s usually AltGr-” then a. Why Microsoft makes you memorize decimal keycodes I have no idea. When I used Windows extensively, I bought a lovely little plug-in that provided mnemonic keystrokes.

They’re trying to catch the crawfish but their natural instincs kick in before they could do it.
Raccoons are instinctual paw washers? I never suspected hygiene would be so important to an animal that rummages through trash. Although, in hindsight, I guess it makes sense.

Um… did Grape just go out to the pantry? If so, she’ll probably be back in just a minute. The question is just how good her mood is at the moment. Will she broom the coons, or just invite them to stay? I mean, really… there are already more non-cats there than cats, so what would be so wrong with inviting some more? Also, if the coons receive an invite they wouldn’t have to go through all the trouble of trying to steal. And if they didn’t have to steal they wouldn’t have to worry about getting caught. If they didn’t have to worry about getting caught they could relax and enjoy the party. And if they could enjoy the party they might start thinking of how it might be better inside the fence instead of outside. And that could lead to all kinds of possibilities.
I’m glad other people are agreeing to this possibility. I mean, th is just seems to lead to a bunch of awsome things!
