Yush more Grape and Max! ^^
I like to see some arcs about cats, but nothing beats more Max and Grape
Are you saying Max and Grape aren’t cats?
Of course they are! I just think when the focus is on Max and Grape, it’s usually on the characters, not the community.
But I’m beginning to think I spoke too soon. If there’s a party, lots of cats will be there. Two birds with one stone!
Mind you, 75% of the cat community is Mr. Bigglesworths…
Is it me or Grape looks more femenine ?
She certainly has i’d say a more “curvy” build in this strip, but max kinda does too. Probably apart of the new art design for Housepets! (for the cats at least)
Even her tail is curvier than usual.
Even peanut looked slightly curvier.

She definitely does have more curves, though Max has a somewhat straight, hourglass figure. But his scarf looks like a cape so he looks like a slightly, toned superhero.

Truck is one of the main raccoon characters in Architect of Sleep. I just about jawdropped when Rick made a reference to that book.

The ratio of his height to his width in that appearance was high relative to the raccoons as they appear here… I’m pretty sure it wasn’t Truck.
Yes but it was one of the broom-to-the-face raccoons and back then they were both drawn pretty much the same. So it could be either one!
Maybe they’re different raccoons… after all, the face markings of the one who guided the Opener of Ways do not match either of these two, nor do the markings of the broom-to-the-face raccoons. And regarding the former, these two don’t strike me as religious zealots…

Whaddya mean new? They’re the same racoons from the near beginning of Housepets! in arc #4. In case you don’t remember Grape does not take kindly to uninvited guests!

Maybe it’s because I’m a Christian, but to me, the idea of playing a hymn on one’s belly seems kind of crude. I do have to admit, though, that I would like to hear some Gilbert and Sullivan.
Hearing something like “When I Was a Lad” played on his belly would be interesting, and playing it would be no small feat on his part.
P.S. In retrospect, using the word “maybe” wasn’t the best choice. If I could edit the first sentence in my response, it would read like this: “Because I Christian, the idea of playing a hymn on one’s belly seems kind of disrespectful.”

As a musical entrepreneur, I find the idea of playing most any song via stomach grumbling to be rather low brow… but it sure would be interesting to witness.
Also, I don’t think any of us think of you as judgmental. Your opinions and values are your own. I would only advise that you relax just a little, and don’t expect quite so much reprisal for your faith– at least from us Housepets! readers. (Unless of course, you were honestly not satisfied with your wording- as I often am with my own writing. In which case, kindly disregard. ^_^)
Of course, I can’t speak for everyone, but I believe our primary reason for being here is to enjoy Rick’s fine work and critique it as we see fit. The last thing we should be doing is pull apart the comments of others because they contain elements we ourselves find disagreeable, and the moderators are fully aware of this. You should feel comfortable expressing your position on matters and moving on, and whoever slights you for it is misunderstanding the purpose of the commentary feature. (Unless of course you were honestly dissatisfied with your wording etc. etc. ^_^)
P.S. I guess I’m lucky Australia chose another song as its anthem, because I’d personally love to hear Truck play Waltzing Matilda!

I would definitely recommend an edit button for the commentary feature. Also‚ is there any particular why we’restillableto use the reply button? I thought this one would have closed by now.
I am not sure when these comments are supposed to lock; I believe it is somewhere around the one-week mark.
As for edits, I agree. That ability would be nice. I guess until we’re given that ability, I suppose in your case you aught to write what’s in your heart and then take a moment to make absolutely sure you said it. These comments are practically a permanent record, after all.

I really like the new look of max, his body is thinner and also looks smaller, his bell is smaller, and the bite in his ear is also smaller. All great changes to his look.

I’ve gotta say I like where this is going, though I think those racoons are borderline insane if they plan on raiding a Crawfish fry with Grape there!

Nah. Grape only needs to look at them and the raccoons will run for their lives.
If they don’t, it might end up like that RvB revelations episode where Tex demolishes the Red team and Tucker in an epic fight.
So what your really saying is that Grape is gonna wipe the floor with those wiley racoons. Shout out to RvB though they have done some really great work with that show!
I think they plan on raiding the trash after the crawfish fry.
Knowing this comic, the raccoons will probably try pulling something before the crawfish are cooked… surgery to follow.
I hope the TF2 Medic does not visit when that happens, they might end up losing there skeletons IF they’re lucky.

Definitely seeing a bit more “V-shape” with Max and bit more “hourglass-shape” with Grape. Which is weird for me since I was JUST commenting that she looked more boyish a few strips back. Of course, it might just be because they’re walking and she’s turning to face Max.
Certain comics she is drawn like that and sometimes it’s not. It mostly comes off as her attitude at the time from the way i read it. Normally when i see her coming off as scoffing at an idea or when she’s asking questions in a innocent manner, i see that trait.
I noticed the same thing to be perfectly honest, and though i am enjoying the slight style changes, I would hate to see Grape fall prey to a cliche girl like figure, we all deep down inside she wants to punch someone :3
Tough first, act girly later with a side of good detailed exposition. That’s what i think makes Grape so pleasing to the viewers with the exposition being very fun to listen to.=)
I definitely can see the “hourglass” in Grape, and her ears look a little kangaroo-ish. I dunno… I guess I’m just used to seeing cats tilt their head when confused and not really moving the base of their ears to the side of their head. Still looks good, tho’.
oh another good one and we now have their names!? oh and such good ones,i’m not too familiar with the references or anything about the names that was said but i can agree that they are good names indeed. and “strangling a moose.” is a funny line.lol

We’ve seen Peanut all excited and happy (a tummy rub from Grape, wasn’t it?) But we’ve never seen a cat purr.

Sorry but for the sake of pointing it out, though this appears to be physically possible and it is no doubt, the implications of inducing sounds in consecutive order to mimic that of a melody that by name appears to be folk in nature are sure to result in tissue agitation of the small intestine from the now physically aided process of the walls of the small intestine adjoining; though it appears in this example the “song” in question is actually large Southern Georgia river spelled incorrectly for the sake of sounding like that of the character or another as “Swanee River” is in quotes.
Of course, if you read everything I just said in high hopes I am right, I would hate to clarify the fact that what I just described does not in fact agitate your body because it happens consistently all day, every day. The reality here is Truck has to fart… :3

I thought of the Drew Carey Show for some reason when I read that last panel. Probably because there was this guy in one episode who played the same song on the phone but I can’t really remember what the episode was about.
And from experience, it’s never fun to be that hungry.

Anyway, I tried crawfish once about 2 years ago. In my opinion, they aren’t that good. But I’ll give the “benefit-of-the- doubt,” and say that perhaps it wasn’t a great restaurant.
According to Euell Gibbons you if you pull the middle structure on the tail out pulling the lower intestine along with it before cooking, it no longer tastes like river mud.

On a thought, we all remember Peanut’s gender confusion early on in the story, but I don’t think this would void that as much as some might think. (and no, NOT because Peanut has not always been firing on all pistons
) In fact, it seems the idea of coming out of one’s shell has long been Grape’s guiding principle as a character. Now that she’s branched out and formed relationships with animals other than Peanut, she could very well be in the midst of a more profound transformation than what is implied, and I think that is very cool. ^_^
It is said in some circles that we ‘become ourselves through others.’ …If I’m at all accurate in my theories, Grape is a prime example of the pursuit of optimum social health. Also a thing I find very cool. ^_^
