Can you fill us in exactly what off-burlesque is then? Google’s got nothin’. I fear it might be a “people who know Guys and Dolls / other musicals” in-joke.
XD I was actually going to put a “Da Papes” post myself until I spotted this one! XD I don’t read the news often unless I’m bored and waiting to go somewhere, but I would SO read that just so I can say I’m reading “Da Papes”. LOL
From what info I can find, Pommie litters are usually 1-3 pups, however litters of up to 7 pups have been reported on occasion. multiply by 5 litters and you have around ten pups, which is still a big handful as anyone who has raised puppies will attest.
Sorry to post again so soon, but I finally read the synopsis of the play (honestly, I doubt I’ll ever see that play). Now really looking forward to how this adaptation will be.
For 5 litters, that comes out to about 30-35 names. That is, assuming there are 6-7 puppies per litter. Naming all of them to go with the sandwich theme could take a LONG while.
You’d need names to go with Detroit. Car companies of the 30s. Auburn. Buick. Cadillac. Chevrolet. Chrysler. Cord. Dodge. Duesenberg. Ford. Hudson. Lincoln. Nash. Packard. Plymouth. Pontiac. Studebaker. Willys…
How go things in Noo Yawk? Nicely-nicely.
Guys shoot craps; dolls perform very spicily.
Ad loves Nate; Sarah, Sky.
Each ends up with her guy.
Is that cheesy? It’s Broadway. Precisely!
There was a young bard of Japan
Whose limericks never would scan
When they said it was so,
He replied, “Yes, I know,
But I always try to fit as many syllables into the last line as I possibly can.”
I know well the heady feeling of promotion to First Scantily-Clad Off-Burlesque Dancer.
alt text: But at least she is happy to be a Grandmother! You know, even IF you’re part of that equation
I got that same feeling when I got that part-time job as a fry cook at the Sizzler.
Until everyone got jealous after you got employee of the month for extinguishing that out-of-control grease fire with your face?
Can you fill us in exactly what off-burlesque is then? Google’s got nothin’. I fear it might be a “people who know Guys and Dolls / other musicals” in-joke.
Well, off-white means something is almost completely white but not quite there.
It’s a sideways reference to “off-broadway”.
Stubby legged mutt-eranian puppies.
*melts by power of little adorable weapons of mass cuteness*
wonder if there’d be a little bit of dragon mixed into that breed given who Tarot is
you just killed the cute
they are little puppy dragons how does that kill cute?
Hey, the Dronkeys were pretty cute…
Let’s see, Dragon’s avatar is Tarot, and Tarot is playing Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, and the puppies are in the play… that’s getting a bit meta.
Not until you factor Rick into it!
XD Da Papes lol.
“Da Papes” indeed, dawg.
I feel like that would be some mid-90’s newspaper.
Or one from Portland.
XD I was actually going to put a “Da Papes” post myself until I spotted this one! XD I don’t read the news often unless I’m bored and waiting to go somewhere, but I would SO read that just so I can say I’m reading “Da Papes”. LOL
I really wanna see those puppies though.
what i assume to be a mutt and a Pomeranian…. that would be so ADORABLE imeantheywouldbefluffyandcuteandshortstubbylegsandandandCOLORFUL!
almost as adorable as a corgsky litte! *imagines, goes EEEEEE*
I find it to be more adorable than corgis in my opinion. Peanut’s pups would be energetic and possibly psychic o.o <3
not corgies” corgSKIs :3 ya know corgi and husky
OMG that’s alot of kids o.O i mean theres usually more then one puppy in a litter …..
I really think its funny how the title is” just ‘kid’ing “
precisely
My first thought also was, “Five LITTERS? Good heavens!” Tarot must be good if she can get someone to buy that outlandish story.
How old is Adelaide supposed to be, anyway?
i mean at least two per litter i mean its pretty rare for there to be only one pup…..
From what info I can find, Pommie litters are usually 1-3 pups, however litters of up to 7 pups have been reported on occasion. multiply by 5 litters and you have around ten pups, which is still a big handful as anyone who has raised puppies will attest.
I do believe Rick said in a Q&A that Housepets! pets only have “a few” per litter.
So, it checks out with 1-3?
“a few” – http://xkcd.com/1070/
Define few.
Now define few when Tarot is involved.
5 litters? Peanuts a player
Only 5?
I was gonna say: Don’t you mean six? When I saw both hands. Then I remembered. They only have four fingers each hand! Silly me.
I wonder if they count in base 8?
Maybe base 16 – the same as our ‘Hex’ system – for all four paws (front and back)
if they did it using the binary system that would be even better as they could go to over 250 with just there hands
Screw the binary system – you’ve got knuckles, dontcha? That’s 3 significant ’states’ right there.
Yes, that was a nice touch.
Seems legit.
I kinda wanna also see Tarot as a scantily-clad off-burlesque dancer.
Dude, you can barely see her collar as it is!
that’s why she got promoted to FIRST dancer
Hah! Love that, they only have 4 fingers on each hand
I wonder if they count in Octal?
One full hand plus a finger… five… augh.
Sorry to post again so soon, but I finally read the synopsis of the play (honestly, I doubt I’ll ever see that play). Now really looking forward to how this adaptation will be.
Having watched the play recently (it was in our playhouse run last year) I can honestly say that Rick is adapting the story quite humorously.
I can tell that just from the synopsis
But, this scene is new to me <.<
*Imagines the pups* AGH! I need to name them, let’s see Peanut Jr., Strawberry, Eggy, Bacon, and um….. Ham. wait 5 litters? I need to call Jill!
For 5 litters, that comes out to about 30-35 names. That is, assuming there are 6-7 puppies per litter. Naming all of them to go with the sandwich theme could take a LONG while.
Earl: Honey, have you seen the pickles?
Jill: in the fridge, usual place!
Earl: No, THE TWINS!
Humorously while that is cute, i also thought of Rugrats =P
Strawberry sammich?
strawberry jelly most likely
You’d need names to go with Detroit. Car companies of the 30s. Auburn. Buick. Cadillac. Chevrolet. Chrysler. Cord. Dodge. Duesenberg. Ford. Hudson. Lincoln. Nash. Packard. Plymouth. Pontiac. Studebaker. Willys…
Considering Peanut’s owner’s last name is Sandwich, we must continue that trend.
Ham and Cheese
Bologna – I pity the poor pup getting this name
BLT
Egg Salad
Chicken Salad
ahhhh Spam – Ok, my pity now goes to this pup
My favorite sandwich is a BLT with Miracle Whip and peanut butter.
Foxes eat anything.
Meatball and Marinara…mmmm….Teryaki? subway pups…
so hilarious, sweet, cute… Rick you keep being the genius!
That is always a good thing! Thanks Rick!
Really well done ! It is going to be interesting to see how Rick is going to make some parts of the play, looking foward to it !
So that’s why Tarot dosnt have a collar…
And dear jebus that is a ton of puppies
I think that her collar under her fur is.
i dont think so you cant see her eye of ra at all usually you can
I want teh see some Tarot/Peanut puppies.
Also panel 2 is adorable.
anyone else notice the cat ears on tarots paper bag whats up with that?
Maybe they’re horns? Adelaide is the “bad girl”. Sarah is the “good girl”.
scantily clad off-burlesque dancer, probably wears cat ears.
Would they have kitty costumes and catsuits in the HP world?
Would they have “mens clubs” for pets, perhaps in less bucolic suburbs?
Whatever the intended use, that sure won’t stop Joey
As per the catsuits, ask Joey
Not _that_ kind of catsuit!
i don’t know how you can write so well, your articles are excellent.http://www.pneusgoodyear.net
That’s oddly insightful for Peanut
Without that collar on, Tarot’s a free spirit!
I want to subscribe to DA PAPES. Where can I do that? XD
DA PAPAHBOY
They look rather cute in the second panel. Though Da papes definitely is the highlight of this strip.
greetings my friend, i came to congratulate you for your great website. all the best.http://www.alternador.org
Fourteen years!? O.o
How long do these pets live for!?
Rick’s said previously they live “about half as long” as humans.
they are just doing the show, though, so i don’t think you have to read too much into it
Just found this limerick:
How go things in Noo Yawk? Nicely-nicely.
Guys shoot craps; dolls perform very spicily.
Ad loves Nate; Sarah, Sky.
Each ends up with her guy.
Is that cheesy? It’s Broadway. Precisely!
There was a young bard of Japan

Why can’t tomorrow be right now? (I’m sorry for my impatient comments. Please don’t kill me.)
“sneaks behind with a knife” >:3
