she’s a cat. She’s entitled to explore new territories as she likes. It’s a law or nature.
As a dog person, I wouldn’t really know that…
I owned about a dozen cats. I know.
For most of my life we’ve had at least one dog, at the moment it’s two… and there has never been any point in my life where we haven’t had cats. The dogs have never done anything to harm the cats. The cats have regularly intentionally harmed the dogs. Cats have their way, period.

Dogs aren’t allowed to openly attend the yarn ball either, it balances.
we don’t know that. They are not invited, it seems, and any wise dogs would know better than openly challenge the year’s largest cat gathering, but insofar we haven’t seen indications of discrimination.

Not really, based on what we’ve seen in the comic.
Well, while they most likely don’t scratch him and completely ignore him, even Fox said that none of the Dogs actually really like him. (and Bino knows it) They don’t openly do what Grape does but they only act nice to him because he co-founded the Good Ol’ Dogs Club.
Grape and Bino set their relationship in place on day one.

Eh, I’m sure he’s been put in his place plenty of times before this, he just never ever learns from it. Bino’s so mean he probably bit his mom the moment after he was born. I guess it would have been too cartoony to have him fall to pieces in the last panel.

They’re not stronger, though. They are, however, better equipped to cause problems when tools aren’t involved. Human teeth and fingernails just don’t match up all that well against fangs and claws.

Miles isn’t your average housepet. Some animals are stronger, but the blanket statement that animals are stronger than humans doesn’t hold.
Miles isn’t a domestic dog, he’s a wolf, and this and Thomas reaction to discovering there are wolves on guard implies HP wolves are generally stronger than humans despite being smaller than humans. Wolves and dogs are basically the same species, so should be proportionally similar in strength… and HP cats seem to be able to hold their own against HP dogs.
And there are MUCH larger animals than the wolves.
Because without thumbs, they can’t learn much; without speech, they can’t pass on knowledge.
I say humans are the animals that got lucky.

Well, it IS blood, but there have been older children shows in which blood has been present, albeit in small amounts and in relation to scratches and cuts.

You know, now that I think of it, maybe she hung around the dogs because they could’t scratch back. Any other theories? *cough* Thoth *cough*
Bino was her neighbour. More than likely he held them next door too and liked travelling next door to do most of her out-door things.
I think she simply wasn’t exposed to cats very much, based on a lot of the early evidence in the strip. Max was the first one to ever work up the courage to even ask her out, and she had few if any feline friends. (Sabrina? Anyone else?)
I’m betting that Max didn’t even know about her until after this particular incident. Max no doubt sees the scratches and thinks “Whoa-ho! I’ve got to meet the cat that gave Bino what he deserves! That is sooo awesome!”
Does anyone think mabye that was the reason no one adopted her before the Sandwich family did?
She was just way too aggressive with anyone she did not like.
Cats can be harder then dogs to place and given Grape’s mindset, she doesn’t strike me as the “Please take me home” type.
And then Max hears about Bino’s day with the mysterious cat
and that was when he started thiking Grape was the coolest tomcat around.

Well, let’s see: why would she hang more with dogs? Maybe because there are not many cats around? Max: still at the pound? Bigglesworths, crazy cat lady’s house is deemed dangerous and off-limit to cubs; Fiddler & Keys busy learning music; Jasper, busy with Jinx; That leaves only Marvin and Sabrina for Grape to play with, versus a generous supply of dogs.
Tiger was referred to as the “new guy” when we first heard of him, so it’s doubtful that Marvin’s even moved into the neighborhood yet. That just leaves Sabrina, but I have the feeling she may have been the odd one out, and thus never socialized much with anyone but Tarot for quite a while.
Plus she said she had traveled the world, so she probably isn’t living in the neighborhood yet
I more pictured that as her owner being one of those sorts that likes to go off on adventureuous vacations to far corners of the world every chance they get, taking Sabrina along, of course.
Either way, it would surely cut down on her socializing time with the neighbors.
You know, like a photographer for National Geographic or something.

It never said exactly why they were in Arizona, or for how long. If you wanted to really see the world, you’d want to visit places for more than just a weekend, so renting an apartment for a month would be considerably cheaper than staying at a hotel for that long…
That’s the sort of thing a Nat’l Geog photographer would do – make sure they stayed in a place long enough to really get a feel for what it’s like.
I really want to know where and when they picked up Tarot. Because Foxstar said that in the novel She met Tarot before they moved to BG. (Hes a Beta Reader for it so that’s how he knows) I still suspect that it was out side the US.

You know, i was hopeing this comic would be the moment grape found out that she would be adopted. She would say something like “Oh, your owners are going to adopt me just because we talked for a little bit” to peanut, still trying to act like a tough cat, but when she got home in the final comic you would see her tear up in joy when no one is looking because she finaly has a home (and an “older brother”) of her own.
That was the kind of comic i was looking forward to, then this one would be the next comic.
We really missed a D’awwwwwwwwwww moment there, didn’t we.
We don’t always get what we expect.

Its most likely just because she lived with Peanut and was neighbors with Bino, and Bino has meetings of the Good Ol Dogs Club near her house. Therefore knew dogs easier then cats.

I had actually forgotten about that strip actually. Considering she lived next to Max it is rather odd she didn’t just hang out with him and have him introduce her to more cats earlier.
Also it could be because she likes Dog Biscuits so much.

You know considering the strip Crackles posted and the one right before it, where she teased Peanut on purpose (remember she knew about his crush by this point, so yeah that was completely on purpose just to mess with him she knew what it would do.) Its possible that she is in denial being a dog lover.
Before anyone gets on me about this, it doesn’t mean that shes not in love with Max or anything like that, just that she likes dogs too and doesn’t want/can’t bring her self to admit it.

It was in one of the excerpts from The Housepets Novel (An Infinitesimally Brief History of the World) IIRC, that Rick put up a while back. Maybe she walks in middle of it to tell her side of the story and some pet is going to find out a new perspective to an old memory.
Either it would be really rushed or this is going to be a very long arc, (assuming this next flash back part of the story will keep going.) which would be cool.
Well it wouldn’t have to be an another flashback narrated by Grape, just explained in present time. Though I’m guessing this will be a long arc, I mean come on, it’s an arc about their past. There’s so much potential.
I can’t imagine any reason for this arc to be short. there’s plenty to tell and PLENTY of ubercuteness to go around. *squeeeee!*
Well I wasn’t saying that this arc will be short with out Grape doing that (I’m sure this arc is going to the end of the month at the very least anyway).
I’m just saying that with her retelling the memories her way though flashbacks (which is what I thought Crackles meant at the time) it would make the arc very very long, most likely it would be the longest one yet. It would be worth it though.

If we do see Max it will be as a background cameo only as this is Grapes story (told by Peanut) and she has not yet met him. (unless some retconing is going to happen, which I doubt) Its also possible (and since Grape lived next to Bino very likely) that Max has yet to be adopted by Jeff yet.
Actually thinking about it, how did she not know Max as a kitten? I guess its possible that Max was owned by someone else in the neiborhood then adopted by Jeff later, either that or Max’s relationship with Sabrina was very very short (which is possible).
