If it helps, I saw it comming. I was waiting for someone else to say it before pointing out why. What I didn’t expect was for her to blow it in our faces (okay, Zach’s face) before that happened
Firstly, since this is really a big game, why would anyone think there was a double agent unless they were a double agent? Since Rockstar Hawk (pffftwhahahaa! I can’t say that name without bursting into laughter) mentioned that there was only one double agent, it had to be the one person raising the point in the cats’ ranks: Grape
Secondly, we know that, although Grape is trying to “hang out with cats more”, she really is devoted to Peanut, and we haven’t seen Peanut around, so whatever Grape’s doing there, Peanut has to be considered. Being a double agent for the dogs just fits.
Thirdly, she seems to know a lot of what’s going on for being just one of the low-ranking “officers”, but her knowledge stops at what will no longer benefit the other side (namely, where did Max get that huge water balloon?) And since she’s practically one with Max, she could very easily get that additional information which a double agent wouldn’t care about.
First that point is stupid since they consider this a war (ok its a pretend war but they are still taking it seriously) and since they are taking it seriously it would be logical to try an get spies in the ranks of the enemy to win.
Second ….that point even make less sense so what if we haven’t seen Peanut around? That doesn’t mean anything (though it could as pointed out a few time, I’m just saying its not actual evidence just your speculation) we haven’t seen Tarot or Sabrina either (heck using your logic it makes sense that Fido would be a spy for the cats since Sabrina isn’t here)
Third when was it said she was a low ranking officer? It was said that Max deals with the weapons and two maybe she just didn’t care where he got the huge water balloon since it wasn’t her job. I’m mean just because they are dating doesn’t mean that they share everything.
I know your not wrong about Grape being the double agent (or at least that how it looks anyway and there is no evidence to disprove it because she could be lying for some reason though I doubt it.) but your logic is easily refuted
Hey all, just notifying you of a name change.
Also, as to why I replied to Frank:
I think Thoth influenced you, then let you replace him. I haven’t seen as many huge comments by him as of late.
As much of a sucker that i was for Joey being the double agent, i also believe that both Joey and Grape are double agents fighting against one another.
The way i see it, the key quests lie in whether Peanut is influencing Grape’s decision or if the dogs just know Grape all too well?
A even better question is: Did Max anticipate Grape doing this?
GameCobra I think you might be some what right on Joey but instead of him being another double agent I think that Joey might have figured out that Grape is the Double Agent and Grape knows he knows so she is blaming him for being the agent to make him less credible if he gets evidence (hence the reason he hasn’t told Max yet, he doesn’t have the evidence to convince him) to tell Max what is happening.
Ok it really needs to be an explanation because that make literally no sense what so ever in anyway right now. Of course this could all be a lie of course.
Well as Sleet said in the Forum she most likely got bribed with Dog Biscuits to do it. And I was right all along (about it not being Joey anyway) so hah!
Oi! I like Rather, so don’t you blather about my Rather and smother me with this other. When I say what I say I say what I mean so don’t go and and tell me that I made a mistake on my scene. Now I mean no ill will, I’m doing this for fun, but if you wanna get real read the rule book son. You’re not supposed to correct, leave that to the mods, but if you do indeed inspect, you’ll be gone by all odds. That’s my warning to you, I hope you’ll be my friend, but I wanna be true in what my message will send.

Grape obviously enlisted in the dogs’ side in exchange for keeping Peanut out of the draft so his innocence could be spared from experiencing the horrors of war.
I think that only a few people saw that coming. But no one really believed that Joey was the double agent. I saw it coming in the first panel. Sad ain’t it?

But i would put it on the fire side mirror inverted so

well I don’t. I mean if I made a random guess (that at the time made no sense at all) with no logical evidence to back it up I wouldn’t brag about predicting anything.

What’s next?…
… grape turns out to be a quadruple agent?
… Mile’s cub is actualy a duble agent from the cats?
… Zach is actualy the dark mind behind all of this war… without even knowing it himself?
…let me guess… at the end every one will be lying…
…every one will turn out to have been pretending all this water-ballon-war just to fool with Zach.
Probably she’s doing it to spite Max or a favor for Peanut. Can’t really think anything else but then again those would be too logical or predictable. For now it doesn’t make that much sense. I thought she would love to win that war for cats!
That would be a much, much better twist then anything else IMO. However as I (and Foxstar) said before Tarot doesn’t seem like the type of person to join in on something like this let alone use her powers in this way. Plus if that’s true what happened to Grape?

I still say that Sleet is most likely right and she was bribed with Dog Biscuits. Ok, grape works for the cats but secretly is whit the dogs, so shes the double agent…but, if they ofered to zack to be a tripel agent…that doesnt mean that he works for the dogs as an agent but working for the cats? in any case, zack should ve an double agent too, not a triple agent (my head hurts)

Or did the triple agent just disclosed his identity to find out who the double agent is?
O_o
Whoa, this 007 stuff is realy confusing.
Think about it: Bino is told he is working for the cat’s side (probably with an “or else”). Given his disdain for cats, he probably goes into one of his elaborate trains of thougth and concludes that napping until noon is the most cat-like thing to do .
Well, if it had to be someone, Grape would prolly be the most likely candidate.
Pretty easy observation, surprised you did not come up with it yourself.
-Toshreferenceshot.-
I’VE GOT IT. Peanut is out recruiting the barn cats and they will ride in to win the battle like that scene in Braveheart. The one where the cavalry flanks the British and… *stops to keep PG rating*

Actually, it was Family Guy: Something Something Dark Side, a parody of Star Wars, however, since you got the name of the source for the parody correct, you get an imaginary half twinkie. I also posted a you tube video link to the scene in question two posts below, if you are interested.

I didn’t saw that coming!
I second that statement.
I’d agree but I’m a grammar policeman, so I can’t. Sorry!
I’ll assume you meant grammer.
No he meant grammar which is the proper spelling NOT grammer.
Grammer is a last name:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammer
And so someone with the last name grammer had a town named after him, and Duskyo is a policeman in that town. Grammer policeman.
Most of us saw this coming

Let’s stop debating grammar.
Alt Text: um, don’t worry there’s an actual explanation in the next comic?
Think we’ll hold you to that
Very clever. It showed a picture of Joey and Grape at the same time while talking about the double agent, and we all went for the obvious one.
Well played, Rick.
Yeah kinda had that idea myself… just a few strips earlier. XD

I know i never thought grape would do it but it was a great plot twist XD

Well as Sleet said in the Forum she most likely got bribed with Dog Biscuits to do it. And I was right all along (about it not being Joey anyway) so hah!
Maybe they gave her a “Free Bino Mauling”(tm) ticket. You can never go wrong with that.
…I don’t think those are really necessary to be allowed to beat up Bino.
Grape likes dog biscuits, she hangs out at the G.O.D. clubhouse, …
Well we still haven’t seen Peanut yet. It could have something to do with him.
if its grape it has to be cause she is working with Peanut
agreed
Seconded
Meanwhile Peanut is sabotaging the dogs so he can help Grape win for the cats, not realizing she’s a double agent
not only would that be hilarious it sounds like something Peanut would do
Let it be known that Draven has predicted the next plot twist and all bow in his epicness should he be correct
wait a second, where is Peanut??
peanut is in reality the overlord watching the fight enssue.

Holy Cow, this actually makes sense.
I agree.
Grape has been behaving strangly sience the double agent was mentioned.
For some reazon, Joey didn’t even pretend that he was pretending to be a cat.
All I can say is that it was invisibly forshadowed.
Nice work Rick! ^_^

There, now that Joke is done, we can get some original stuff on here… I bet Grape is doing this so she can smack Bino with a frying pan again…
i lol’d
it’s you again! and you’re still that guy from that thing!
yes me again, what guy from what thing?
So “Cat” really was just working for the cats?
Well max had some good points a few strips back
Grape obviously enlisted in the dogs’ side in exchange for keeping Peanut out of the draft so his innocence could be spared from experiencing the horrors of war.
I agree salesman good work.
What horrors? It’s a squirt gun fight and Peanut’s a dog, he doesn’t mind getting wet.
You have obviously never squirted a dog with a water pistol.
(Dogs don’t like that.)
I think that only a few people saw that coming. But no one really believed that Joey was the double agent. I saw it coming in the first panel. Sad ain’t it?
Ooo, definitly didn’t see that coming at all. I think my jaw even hit the floor at that statement.
ai wonder how rick’s gonna explain this X3?
Don’t compute…. system error…. Bzzzzzt…
Wow I feel like a door just hit me on the way out. Gosh I didn’t see that coming. What does Peanut has to say about this!?
Somebody hit me with a frying pan so I can forget I ever heard that mind melting plot twist.
*PANG*
YAY!!!
I finaly get to hit someone with a frying pan.
wooooooohoooo—
*PLAUNG* (get hit with a frying pan before hitting Legion with a frying pan)
We need frying pans with a “housepets” logo on them.
But where would you put the logo? On the side where the food goes, or on the side where the fire goes?
How about on the handle of the frying pan.
Hmmm.. good question. I hadn’t in mind to use them for
cooking.
But i would put it on the fire side mirror inverted so
you can read it after you hit someone. XD
And sience when are frying pans to cook on!?!?!
Frying pans are to hit other people with!
=D
Whoever said Grape was the double agent has the right to gloat now. lol
Except I pretty sure the people that did that (the whole two of them) where joking about it when they did. So it wasn’t really a prediction as so much it was a random guess they made to be silly.
I say it still counts.
I agree
well I don’t. I mean if I made a random guess (that at the time made no sense at all) with no logical evidence to back it up I wouldn’t brag about predicting anything.
who says they’re gloating about predicting and not about guessing correctly?
Because to me that’s like gloating about putting a bunch of pictures of the cast on a dart board and throwing a dart at it, blindfolded, and it just happens to land on Grape.
But that’s how I make all my predictions, you must be doing something wrong
I agree.
They deserve some credit.

Probably she’s doing it to spite Max or a favor for Peanut. Can’t really think anything else but then again those would be too logical or predictable. For now it doesn’t make that much sense. I thought she would love to win that war for cats!
I’m going with what Sleet suggested on the forum: she was bribed with Dog Biscuits it makes the most sense out of any reason.
Yeah that could be it. Must be a heck of a pile of dog biscuits.
It’s not really Grape but Tarot in disguise?
That would be a much, much better twist then anything else IMO. However as I (and Foxstar) said before Tarot doesn’t seem like the type of person to join in on something like this let alone use her powers in this way. Plus if that’s true what happened to Grape?
Tarot would pretend to be Grape so the real Grape would play pretend with Peanut at home, sparing him the horror of war
Um. This is a silly game, there’s not really any ‘horror.’
Horror is in the eye of the beholder. Especially when Grape’s involved
http://www.housepetscomic.com/2009/02/02/the-treat-in-treatment/
I don’t think so…
Tarot need’s permision to do anything.

…AND IT DOES’T FEEL PRETTY!!! >(
it makes perfect sense Zatch! don’t you read greapnut? *coughs* i meaaaaaan <.<
Grape’s explanation has a name.
Peanut.
I still say that Sleet is most likely right and she was bribed with Dog Biscuits. But if it was something to do with Peanut that would be really cute (also it would throw so much shipping fuel on the fire it wouldn’t even be funny, since she would be betraying her boyfriend for Peanut. …on second thought I hope she did it because of Peanut. But I’m still going with Sleets Idea right now.)
Holy Macaroni!! Grape is the double agent!?!? Deffinetally a suprise!
Holy trombones on a pogo stick, that is a surprising plot twist
That’s… That’s an Eddsworld reference. I never thought I’d see the day
Is this some forth wall breakage? I believe it is
It looks like it but it may not be, look what happened last time.
There is an easy explanation for that, Rockstar Hawk made a stupid mistake because hes a pup.
Or maybe it just appears to be stupid
He became a triple-agent when he revealed himself to grape. Except he didn’t, because she was the double-agent. And the G.O.D. club is a full-house… of water! GIN!
Grape, not Joey or Tiger, is the one who constantly go to the dog’s club…
I just ralized that everyone is just so shoked by the twist that they didn’t even notice that Zach’s expression on panel 3 is epic!
I mean, this will probaply be the only time we will see him with that expression.
=D
I mean panel 4, i’m sorry. =/
I was verry sleepy when I typed it.
It’s like the music in Ratatouille: it fits in so well, you barely notice it’s there.
His expression in penal 3 is his offcially most typical reaction…….
panel 4, sorry!
Although this is another explanation as to why grape was trying so hard to get Maxwell to thing Joey was the double agent
I think there is a third side going on and Grape and maybe Peanut might be on it
Do you think that peanut might be working for the cats on grapes behalf?
AWWWWWWWWW! ^_^
if grape is doing this for peanut… then the only thing that would make it even cuter would be peanut doing that for grape.
^_^
well thats unexpected
Holy crap… I was sure it wasn’t her at all (I thought it was Joey… though as a true cat lover myself, I’d have sided with the mewmews as well) x3 That’s a pretty good twist :3
this makes me wish i’d started commenting sooner…….. would’ve looked so smart right now. ah-well. i think grape’s possibly doing it just too mess with the “rules” of the ” game” in other words cause she can and it’s fun or to find out who really started it.
could also be the dog biscuits.
I did not see that coming at all, but….it kind of makes perfect sense to me.
No it doesn’t! :V
YES IT DOES!!!
… at leas in the part in which something unexpected was expected to happen.

i think Grape and maybe Peanut are on a third side
“Join the dog side, they have biscuits”

What a twist!
What will Max say when he finds out?
That’s going to be one very interesting conversation.
I saw it stated here that Grape would turn out as a quadruple agent, and I wonder if something like that would be true. I think it would be hilarious to find that Grape was only acting as a grunt/spy, when in fact she was the Chessmaster the whole time. Strikes me as the sort of thing she’d get kicks out of, but sadly the shocking twist that we had been short of has been used.
Another thing that I’ve pondered recently; exactly how were the cats convinced into a water war when…cats hate water?

all of my assumsions…. all gone
Maybe Grape just says that she is the double agent to get more secret informations from the triple agent.
Or did the triple agent just disclosed his identity to find out who the double agent is?
O_o
Whoa, this 007 stuff is realy confusing.
Wow… Your reasoning is greatly convincing!
I am amazed!
I am amazed too!
I do not like something that have me to have suspicion or whatever!!
Well, didn’t see that one coming, myself. Maybe she’s doing it because Peanut is being a double agent for the cats.
maybe all cats are double agents, and all dogs too, and they are all fighting for the wrong side
lol
I thought of that too!
wouldn’t that be like totaly 0_0′ ?
Well one thing I learned with Housepets! is that nothing is impossible.
Good job Rick.
No one expected that.
As for Peanut, Bino missed everything cuz he slept till noon, so Peanut is probably home drawing comics.
Or Bino was the double agent!
Huh ? Bino working for the cats?? o_O
Think about it: Bino is told he is working for the cat’s side (probably with an “or else”). Given his disdain for cats, he probably goes into one of his elaborate trains of thougth and concludes that napping until noon is the most cat-like thing to do .
And this, of course, gets him caught.
Oh, so that’s why sleeping late is worth of prison!!!
You know, I had not understood that until now.
…
… I need to study animal phsycology!!!
=D
CALLED IT!
Did Grape really need to snap like that, poor Zach just wanted answers.
She just wanted to make him shut up. She preferred this to the alternative: shooting him
Other alternative:
Hitting him with a frying pan.
We have yet to see Grape using hammerspace
no, but there may be a frying pan nearby for as yet unexplained reasons. maybe Tiger brought bacon.
“Why’d they bring a frying pan out here, anyway?”
http://www.housepetscomic.com/2008/09/19/grape-solves-another-problem-with-violence/
I know!
Why didn’t they bring frying pans, indeed?
Why not a frying-pan-war instead of a water-ballon-war?
That would be AWESOME!!! =D
i was so close, I thought it was going to wined up being Max that was the real double agent
Dang. I was SO wrong.
There is so many double agents!
A double double-agent?
Quadruple agent?
Hextuple?
Dun-dun-dun!
Curse you M. Night Shyamalan!!!! *shakes a fist*
Errr…..wait…..?
Traitor!
Honestly , now it ALL makes sense…
Now I’m not surprised if Grape is actually Peanut in disguise…
You’ve got to be kidding me. Hehehehehehe Grape a Double Agent ridiculous…..well until now.
Well, if it had to be someone, Grape would prolly be the most likely candidate.
Pretty easy observation, surprised you did not come up with it yourself.
-Toshreferenceshot.-
I didn’t even think about this happening, but, now that it’s said and done, it really makes sense.
wow im an idiot.
WAIT i was right!!! ha a couple comics back i commented that “i think grape may be a spy” and i was right HA
WHAT A TWIST!!!!
I’VE GOT IT. Peanut is out recruiting the barn cats and they will ride in to win the battle like that scene in Braveheart. The one where the cavalry flanks the British and… *stops to keep PG rating*
seems like a wierd but creative idea
I’m not sure the horses would lend themselves to such an idea.
And since it’s a water balloon fight, I’m pretty sure they could follow the movie’s every move and still retain the rating
The dilusions of a lonely fox aren’t worth but a moments notice to all but the artist herself.
Aww, don’t be lonely, you have friends here. I know for sure of at least one
Whaaaaaat?
Haha. I love Zach’s face in the last panel. It’s hilarious!
Grape: Zach, I am the double agent!!
Zach: Well I don’t see how that affects m- WHAAAAAAATTTTTT?!?
Grape: Join me, and we shall rule the gal-
Peanut: Graaaappppppeeeee, you’re going to get us sued for copyright infringement!!!!!!!
If you know what movie I referenced (the reference does not include what peanut said though) you get an imaginary twinkie.
star wars???
Actually, it was Family Guy: Something Something Dark Side, a parody of Star Wars, however, since you got the name of the source for the parody correct, you get an imaginary half twinkie. I also posted a you tube video link to the scene in question two posts below, if you are interested.
You know what, I’m in a particularly good mood, so you get a whole imaginary twinkie- aw heck everybody gets an imaginary twinkle
MAN, i didn’t see that coming, but kinda make sense, Grape loves Peanut, no?

Somebody had to post a link to this, and that somebody will be me!!!
And also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdhhQhqi_AE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Throwing this out there now, before the new comic comes up. Also I didn’t bother looking at the other posts to see if anyone else thinks this.
Grape is playing triple-agent for the cats. Gain Zach’s trust by telling him she’s the double agent for the dogs, then wham!
Lampshades!
