I wonder how he’ll take it if… no, when he find out who King really is… Considering they’re so good friends now, and how much he like him, I wonder if he’ll ever be able to forgive him?
I don’t think he suspects the truth… the truth is too weird for anyone to suspect. He suspects SOME relationship between King and Joel, though, and I think he doesn’t want to know more than that.
That was just when a box full of catnip asploded in his face, I think this requires at least 5 inoperable body parts, I say mouth, stomach, brain, chest and everywhere from the waist down.
You know, I like Fox. A lot. But until he stands up for Peanut and stops picking on him along with Bino, I’ll never being able to think he’s not either a coward or a tool.
I’d like to think that King is helping him grow, though.
So far, Fox has been friend with bino (for unknown reason), and the cat-loving taboo must be very strong. That made easier for Fox to stick with Bino on picking on Peanut (although, by word of Bino, Fox must have tried to convince him not to give peanut the torment)…
Well, now things may really change. It’s the second time Fox physically hurts Bino for tormenting King, so you’re right, lenn, King too is helping Fox grow up a bit.

Ah way to go Fox! What a great friend. Now I have to wonder what will happen on Friday that should be very interesting. I’m still hoping to see or learn about what happened to Pete.
Uh-oh. I think that Pete has found his avatar. After that, Bino will want to mess King up even more, and Pete will make a deal with him about that. And that’ll be a bad sign. For everyone involved.
Pete could try to, it’s in his style, but it also appears that the game doesn’t allow such choices out of petty vengeances. The Game Master wouldn’t allow anything that violated the intrinsic benevolence rule, and getting Fox as avatar would be total breach of that rule.
Also, Pete tends to be subtle in his own jerky way: he wouldn’t be so obvious.
Nah, Fox is already one of the Great Kitsune’s avatars/NPC’s. He’s spoken for. And I don’t think he can go and right out possess anyone, they have to agree to it first.
Well this would depend on what his punishment is, If it involves staying away from King that might also apply to his Avatar (either Heaven making that a requirement or Kitsune doing it him/her self) and that would put both Fox and Bino out of the running.
Which is two things, really: One, it’s French for “follow me,” or “we go there.” Two, it was the David Tennant as The Tenth Doctor’s catchphrase. I miss it. Geronimo just doesn’t have the same impact.
Fox, my respect for you has gone up by a lot. I knew there was a reason you were one of my favourite characters. Also, the final panel is hilarious. At least you gave him a running start.
It will be interesting to see the repercussions of this page. Interesting and a bit nerve-wracking.

Well, when Pete transformed King, we didn’t see King’s clothes, they just dissapeared, maybe they became part of him and when he transforms back (and face it, he totally will, just not in this arc) the cloths will sepperate from him.
When he transformed into King, the clothes disappeared so I think it would be safe to assume if he ever were to transfer back, he would just reappear in the prison clothes he was in.
I wonder why, but now I imagine King having some scene like the one at the end of the first PMD game (to wit: player character vanishes in ball of light after saving the world to go back human, his pokemon friends cry his disappearance with your partner being the loudest, and then! You decide to come back.)
i thought Fox might be the one to catch it. nice one!
I really like the expressions in this comic, they say much more than words ever could.
Also, I think we have our answer for why Fido didn’t beat up Bino already: so Fox can do it!
Gotta love how that worked out. But does fox know? I think that it may be fox realizing that after how far king is going to get that for whatever reason king really wanting that watch and that it may never help him find joel (of course remembering that fox is spiritually unaware as far as the cosmic D&D is concerned).
I think that Fox knows “something”, but not necessarily what. After all, Fox and King had that fight earlier (about Joel kidnapping Fox and Joel’s watch being important to King for some strange reason (to Fox’s eyes)), this was them making up. Just like Viath said above your comment. The expressions (and actions) can really say a lot more than words.
@Argent Stonecutter
I’m sorry, you’re right King is too young to be a pet from back then (especially since most pure-breed pets live for only a decade.). But you’re also wrong. If he was traumatized as a child (like that scene), shouldn’t it stand to reason that he wouldn’t have a pet of his own as an adult? (Not to mention he was a member of PETA. It’d be redundant.) So King couldn’t have ever been his pet.
All Fox really knows is that King has some kind of connection to Joel (or at least his watch). Only Rick could know what Fox thinks that connection is. That is something that we all can agree with at least.
Housepets dogs are longer lived than that. But King is apparently young enough to be considered a “pup”.
We don’t know what he did before he joined PETA, except that he couldn’t pass a background check for other animal support organizations… but we know he didn’t really understand what PETA was about, and he didn’t seem a “hardcore” PETA type.
And we know more about his background than Fox does, so I don’t think King having been Joel’s pet is something that would surprise Fox.
While again that’s all true, 1)Fox did know that he was part of PETA. Fox didn’t know that Joel didn’t know. Only the K-9 Unit actually heard that part. 2) The entire goal of PETA was to liberate pets. They wouldn’t have let him join if he had a pet. 3) In the end it doesn’t really matter. Fox and King are friends again and that’s more important. As friends they need to trust each other. (especially since King can’t explain why.)
…. well… that’s was deep moment…. but does this mean for King? He is still part of the game, and to ensure his fate he has to take of that watch till he dies?
And as for Bino (grabs Sunday Newspaper and squirt bottle)
nah, Joel should be really silly to go back to human, by now. he’s rebuilding a life as King, he’s discovering there’s still hope for him in this state -even with a jerk like Bino around!- he’s got a relly good friend and does his best to care for Sasha…
As human, he’d be on the run (best option) or in prison (worst option). Wow, really a wise choice, Mr. Robinson…
the ONLY reason I could fathom is that in the end he may decide to get punishment for risking Fox life when he was PETA… But if he opted for that, I guess he’d first choose to tell Fox everything and ask him for forgiveness. he’d surely wouldn’t leave him without saying a word.
the lifespan of pets in this universe is longer than in ours. while still shorter than the human lifespan, it may be long enough that it’s better than life as a human with few connections in this world. plus, he could live a full pet lifespan and become human at the last minute and finish a human lifespan(unless he’d be old when he turns back)
If Joel was twenty-something and they’re not doing weird age resets, then he’s looking at a shorter life expectancy. So that’s certainly one possible reason he might want to turn back.
*SQUEE*. (now that that’s over…) Fox. You are AMAZING. Also, major kudos to you, Rick, for the variety of facial expressions. This arc, especially, has been nothing but fantastic emotive illustrating, and it’s further enhanced my love for King’s character. Once again, thank you for making my night.
It’s magic! We saw it ‘fall’…perhaps, instead, we saw the planes overlapping like when we just walk and don’t run from a door to another.
Cuz if we applied raw physics, the watch should’ve burned in the atmospheric reentry AND kill King at the impact.
oka @ Valerio yes the watch would have burned up on reentry. but it would not have killed king on impact its impossible becuase of air resistance, and becuase an object can’t fall faster or slower then 10 meters per second. sorry if it sounds a bit brainy but i couldnt help my self
Lee Majors is disappointed about the Alt-Text. He might jump an open drawbridge or tarzan from a vine but in the end he’s still the unknown stuntman who’s show is too obscure to referenced in this line.
(I bought the first season of that show on DVD, pretty good although all the big stunts in the opening credits are stock footage from various 70s flicks.)
My favourite character just saved the day . . . I approve of this comic! (Eighties era thumbs up)
\And doesn’t anyone else get the impression that Fox knows somehow knows something?
whatever he suspects, even if it reached getting close to the Game, it’s obvious he values his friendship with King over his rancors with Joel.
And that whatever he thinks, he’ll never point a finger at King in front of anyone else. If he’ll say something to King, it will be in private.
By now, it can be safely expected that Pete will be incapacitated to mess up things for a while. He already was out of the Game until he found a proper avatar, instead he managed to meet the Heaven’s Tough Cop.
Kitsune will keep a very strict eye on Pete, this time.
@ valerio (lol agian) yah this is pete where talking about right he is kinda clever just cant pull anything of his tricks off. and Kitsune has been watching but he is only watching
Phew… I will be honest, I expected the worst! What with the arc title and the buildup.
But honestly, what will King/Joel have to go through next?! From the get go he had to deal with ALOT of awkward things, from being turned into a dog to befriending a pet he kidnapped who nearly suffocated to HAVING HIS FATE IN JEOPARDY. I just know King/Joel will snap sooner or later with all of this craziness, and it will not be pretty! I realize he has issues with his past and all, but it only makes his story even more sad considering how he grew up and all the things happening to him now.
…gah, probably taking this too seriously. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next. Let us hope this “prize” at the end of the Game is worth it, if King lasts that long!
The chances that King’s life turned out for the worst are increasingly growing slimmer. I can imagine a heart-to-heart between the two, but insofar everything leads to think that Fox will do what’s in his friend’s best interest. Knowing King, there will be a moment in which he’ll snap. he’s just like that, but not against the one he owe so much to.
Against Fido? quite probably.
I think he’ll snap sooner rather than later too. Has anyone else realized that we rarely see his whole eye, because it is usually down to the iris because he is always nervous and paranoid. But i think the next time be snaps, it’ll be the last time, and they’ll finally demand answers.
You know? the really most humiliating moment for King will be to go in front of Pete and admit with him that he was right, after all: he has learnt his lesson, even if the griffin didn’t transform Joel out of his kind heart…
Same thing happened to me. Blew through the whole comic one Saturday during the first Guest Week. I remember my reaction, too. “Why isn’t the next button working??? Unless… NOOOOOOOO!!!” Good to see I’m not alone.
Oh my goodness, this brought a tear to my eye. The facial expressions are just…….spectacular. I LOVE THIS STORY!!!!! And now my thoughts on it. I believe that Fox has finally discovered that King is the Joel who tried to kidnap him so long ago. And right now, he’s just trying to put the pieces together, trying to decided on what he thinks about the situation.
He had become friends with the one who tried to kidnap him……that’s alot to swallow in a couple of minutes.
no, at worst he’ll think King used to be Joel’s pet.
At worst’s worst, he’ll be thinking that King scouted the territory to help Joel kidnap Fox. And that’s as far as Fox’s reasoning could go, since The Game would be really farfetched.
And yes, so far in King and Fox’s friendship, this was the best moment ever.
I really love this story arc and after some thought, I think Fox may have come to the conlusion not that Joel IS King but that King was owned by Joel or something along those line. I mean actually changing into a dog might be a bit far fetched but having been owned by Joel (prior to Pete or being otherwise involved with him) makes more. I could see Sasha being just as protective of something of her ‘fathers’ despite how he treats her.
All in all, I’m not too sure I want to see Joel back. King is just so much better a character and it’s my opinion that Joel will probably accept the canine way of life if for no other reason than he has friends who REALLY care about King. Fox didn’t have to do anything but he proved at the end how much he cares for King. And I think that’s very important to the story and King’s further development.
Yes, now that i think about it (which i can’t do very good when it’s really late), that is probably the better explanation. Since Fox has yet to learn about “The Game” and all the mystical stuff behind it, i’m sure Fox is thinking that King used to be Joel’s pet.
^^^I third this statement. Fox is amazing, even with king being the new guy, he made friends with him and pretty much abandoned bino. and he gave the watch back when they were fighting. Fox is definitely my second favorite character
Fox confuses me a little. We all love him for the reasons said here, but why is he still hanging out with Bino?
Either way, I completely agree with what is being said, I like Fox more and more each time we see him.
Ah, friendship~
Not much else to say there, heheh. And while it doesn’t bother me or anything, I’m kind of surprised that with how nitpicky everyone is, no one has pointed out that King’s footpads are black now when they used to be pink. hehehe.
oh heck.
Reflecting on IceKitsune’s words in the forum, and judging by what Fox just said in panel 6…He *was* there all along, just like Fido.
That would imply a last-moment change of heart… But could it justify Fox in KING’s Eyes?
I have a bad feeling about this…oh, so bad…
I think of it like this while it was a last moment change of heart to help King and defy Bino at least he didn’t need to be told to do it like Fido was.
there is a difference in panel five and six. well more than one but the speech bubbles don’t count because that’s normal. it’s that King got fuzzier in the 6th panel
fox just saved the life of his friend who is also the person who tried to kidnap him without knowing it but at the same time is slowly going through a change of heart…..
Man, I was actually touched by this strip. King at least have one friend, Fox..I do not think people understand that Fox just threw away his hatred and such for Joel to do a good deed for King (who, by the looks of it, Fox suspects there is a link between the two)..
Plus, King walking away, crying in joy and Fox even threatening Bino for what he did..
And adding on as I forgot..I actually think King will find life much better as a dog than a human..Qualities and such in this world’s dogworld.
Plus, I think, if this continues, wont be able to leave Fox at all, guilt and comeradeship will hold him…
But that’s just my imagination and ideas! XP
crying in joy? To me it felt more like he was crying in relief, the stress of all that had just happened finally catching up with him.
I agree with your other statement, if King ever gets the choice I hope he realizes just how much better off he is now.
Anyone here remember the film Where Eagles Dare? (a clint eastwood et al film) I can just imagine that theme song to this layout. King is such the underdog you cant help but love his helplessness of situations he gets into.
You know what I mean.
There ought to be some clause for a severe punishment to Beno other that “I’ll take that as the signal for a running star” That pups got a big ego
By that I think it wither means Fox really wants to pound Bino right now… I still can’t believe nice guys like Fido and Joey are related to a guy like Bino…
ahh another happy ending.. King get away thinking he can avoid the game a little while longer., Bino is going to beating and still be a jerk and the griffon is in heaven jail (in a sense). Knowing that Fox may know something but willing to forgive and forget, give Fox some props. What left for king? well unless the griffon going to go after king again ( which probably at this point he probably do the smart thing and give up and find another avatar.) what else is there left for king? other to change his ways.
Me too, i seriously wonder how King is going to handle all this emotion going around. So much has happened in just a short period of time, it’s not even funny.
I think its time King told the truth, no better time than now, after what happened right? Sure their friendship boat may be rocked, but hey it has to be done. You can do it King! Drink some orange soda to calm your nerves if you have to lol!
*imagines both sitting on the roof of Milton House, hugging each other’s shoulder, the other paw holding high a bottle, and both of them howling at the moon while bubbles burst all around their heads*
GO FOR BUDDY FRIENDSHIP!
Yeah, I’m sure Fox will be all understanding, instead of either a) ticked off beyond belief with King being Joel and/or King being dishonest with him (Fox) all this time, or b) being all “WTF?!” (“F” being “Fudge”, if that makes you feel better) about something that sounds like it’s from a fantasy movie.
On second thought, the above was a bit more harsh than I intended. My apologies.
Stripping away the harshness, while we the readers may be able to understand how King got where he is, other than Peanut, Tarot, and Sabrina there hasn’t been all that much evidence that the pets of Babylon Gardens (never mind the few owners we’ve seen) are open to considering fantasy scenarios like magic transformations and the like as entirely plausible.
Panel 1: King is walking outside, trying to keep his emotions inside.
Panel 2: Sabrina suddenly shows up all excited, seeing that King has his watch back.
Panel 3: Sabrina notices King crying and tries to find out what’s wrong, but King just hand the watch over to her and walks away.
Panel 4: Sabrina is left wondering what is wrong.
This is just my thought on what might happen next.
So, I stumbled upon this comic today and didn’t stop reading until I realized the “Next” button stopped working. All I have to say is wow. I’ve really enjoyed the read so far.
Also, I really hope things go well for King, because he really has been drawing the short end of the stick…
That was close nice save Fox!
It’s the Fox we know and love!
Yush! *nods savagely*
I wonder how he’ll take it if… no, when he find out who King really is… Considering they’re so good friends now, and how much he like him, I wonder if he’ll ever be able to forgive him?
Btw, I also wonder how little King managed to break free from that huge Russian dog’s grip…
(I dunno why I think he’s Russian, he just looks so… Yeah, I dunno..)
a) He got distracted by the throw
b) His name is Boris
And in the relms of comics and cartoons, that name holds certain power….just not the kind you want for/on you. =P
Irl probably much cooler name around place of origin, after all why else would anyone name their kid that?
‘Cause they’re screwed in their heads most likely, it’s the ugliest name I’ve ever heard… I think Mikhail is a cool Russian name
Boy will he ever be surpised when he finds out why King needs it
If he finds out.
Judging by the look on his face…….i’d say he already does.
I agree, he already suspects.
I don’t think he suspects the truth… the truth is too weird for anyone to suspect. He suspects SOME relationship between King and Joel, though, and I think he doesn’t want to know more than that.
He probably figures that King was once a pet of Joel’s and the watch was a gift to King from Joel.
Yes, that’s probably right.
(i can’t think straight when i’m tired xp)
Yes, I was thinking exactly what NykVerien said.
This is like saying Mrs. Incredible knew the truth all along
Ohha, it is funny because it is a joke.
Omg YAY!! FOX YOUR AWSOME!!!
YAY FOX!!! (one of my favorite chars)
AWE! :33 Fox Saved the day
And Bino be getting what he deserves!
Wwwweellll he going to get what he deserves.
as long as it’s painful, it makes me even the merrier
I wonder whats the worst they would do to him. More less keeping it PG
“You’d be surprised what you can live through.”
Ipse dixit Jafar
“When in doubt, hurt the bird.” — Disney’s bible for the “Aladdin” TV series.
“Is any part of Bino’s body non-functional?” — King, last time.
Three of Bino’s body parts must be inoperable. I believe that’s the standard fare when it comes to messing with King.
That was just when a box full of catnip asploded in his face, I think this requires at least 5 inoperable body parts, I say mouth, stomach, brain, chest and everywhere from the waist down.
Hmm. True. 5 may be more appropriate to the situation. It is a fair bit worse that a catnip bomb.
Yeah, and the bomb was only because his name was King.
Not the brain. Can’t make something inoperable if it is already.
@Snowman: Just what I was about to say!
assuming there IS a brain at all!
You know, I like Fox. A lot. But until he stands up for Peanut and stops picking on him along with Bino, I’ll never being able to think he’s not either a coward or a tool.
I’d like to think that King is helping him grow, though.
And i have no idea why that became a reply post. It was supposed to be a regular one. Sorry about that.
I almost think Fox may have figured it out
Hmm… that’s a good point!
And Joel/King might actually be nice to Fox, should King decide to transform back into Joel.
King will realise that this life is much more worth living, and go into an epic FINAL BATTLE with Pete over the sanctity of his soul
DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN!

By George I think he’s got it
FOX IS TOTAL AWESOME!
Also, HAH! I knew he’d save the day! Good friends will be good friends
Yep. And that is why Fox is awesome.
I agree with this sentiment. That is all.
Fox has completely redeemed himself this comic. ^_^
What did he do that required redemption?
agree. Fox had all reasons to be angry, at first. What matters is that he set his priorites straight.
Not support king?
I highly support King, but truth be told, at the moment Fox was rightfully angry. BUT, now that i think about it, he was WRONG in letting Bino almost smash the watch.
in the end, King must be thankful to Sabrina…
I should’ve been clearer:
“What did [Fox] do that required redemption?” Not support King
Nothing really, I actually think he was showing how much he cares for King.
<3 Fox
I thought you liked Bino… Fox is about to get medieval on at least three body parts!
Fox awesomeness outrules!
Ah way to go Fox! What a great friend. Now I have to wonder what will happen on Friday that should be very interesting. I’m still hoping to see or learn about what happened to Pete.
Pete got to take a trip to the Suprenatural Maul!!!
Also truth be told I’m getting the feeling no one truly likes Bino they just kind of tolerate him.
Uh-oh. I think that Pete has found his avatar. After that, Bino will want to mess King up even more, and Pete will make a deal with him about that. And that’ll be a bad sign. For everyone involved.
If Pete really wants to get back on King, He’ll make Fox his avatar – simply because that would upset King the most
Pete could try to, it’s in his style, but it also appears that the game doesn’t allow such choices out of petty vengeances.
Well, at least the Fox is under the Great Kitsune’s protection/influence is my theory. Not a fact.
Well this would depend on what his punishment is, If it involves staying away from King that might also apply to his Avatar (either Heaven making that a requirement or Kitsune doing it him/her self) and that would put both Fox and Bino out of the running.
In a random pet store:
Pete (in parot form):*sqawk* Polly wants a cracker. *sqawk**
That… would be hilarious
That would definitely be the best Pete moment yet. Maybe 2nd to his fancy “gaspar” snap.
you win an interent sir!
That is like one of the best Ideas ever.
The hunt is on! Signal the Fox!
You are win!
On Dogs most wanted!
And running FAST!
Very fast!
Always with the running. :3
Alonze! (total fail spelling but i hope you know what im trying to say)
“Allons-y”?
Which is two things, really: One, it’s French for “follow me,” or “we go there.” Two, it was the David Tennant as The Tenth Doctor’s catchphrase. I miss it. Geronimo just doesn’t have the same impact.
Geronimo can have a pretty big impact if the jumper forgot his parachute.
*rim-shot*
run, Bino, run!
And never come back…
Then who’ll be our chew toy?
Fox, my respect for you has gone up by a lot. I knew there was a reason you were one of my favourite characters. Also, the final panel is hilarious. At least you gave him a running start.
It will be interesting to see the repercussions of this page. Interesting and a bit nerve-wracking.
But I think panel 5 says the most of all the panels, in terms of the level of emotion. The faces say it all without the need for text.
very true.
absolutely right.
Best King and Fox moment EVER so far. This is where a friendship matters
“a picture is worth a thousand words”
Panel 5 and 6 definitely!
Indeed it is. I’m just glad the friendship held up. If Fox and King had stopped being friends, I think many of use would have been greatly saddened.
But good friendships surpass all obstacles, we hope.
now, to make this absolutely perfect, Sabrina should have a nice discussion with Fido…
*GASP*
*DOUBLE GASP*
*TRIPLE GASP*
*fart*
FOX?! *jaw drops to the floor*
Yah, and in yo’ face, Bino! (I mean Fox’s PAUNCH!)
all of a sudden I got a picture of Fox doing a Falcon Punch on Bino in my head. Wonder why? lol
because it’s sooo sweet to imagine.
And now we’ll probably never see it
The first panel should have this:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BigNo
http://www.housepetscomic.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=255406#p255406
you’re welcome
That was nice.
Applying to the comic above, not post, and no sarcasm intended. Crummy timing…
The … comic is a crummy thing?
no the timing was crummy
Oh yeah, if/when King decides to transform back into Joel:
*Cue glowing light from King*
*King levitates into the air*
*A ring of sparkles sweeps him from top to bottom, with sparkles flaking off of King to reveal his human form. (CLOTHED. Remember, this is PG stuff!)*
Pity. Nothing’s cuter than a small dog in big clothes, except maybe a kitten in big clothes.
Nah, a kitten in big clothes just looks wierd, how about a hamster in big clothes?
(hey we havn’t seen hamsters yet in Housepets!)
“Ah, Reclaimer, you have arrived”
I thought he was referencing Beauty and the Beast
Actually, it’s more a reference to “Spirited Away”.
Is that a reference to Halo?
Yes, yes it is
I wonder why, but now I imagine King having some scene like the one at the end of the first PMD game (to wit: player character vanishes in ball of light after saving the world to go back human, his pokemon friends cry his disappearance with your partner being the loudest, and then! You decide to come back.)
Run, run, run,
As fast as you can!
You can’t catch me,
I’m not Bino, git’m.
i thought Fox might be the one to catch it.
The expressions (and actions) can really say a lot more than words.
this^^
Fox probably believes that King was once Joel’s pet.
I would go with this theory.
I would go with that too, IF it weren’t for this…
http://www.housepetscomic.com/2009/05/27/im-never-going-to-understand-humans/
On the other hand, Fox may not know about that either…
Man, I’m so impartially conflicting.
I think King-as-King is probably too young a dog (Fido refers to him as a ‘pup’) to have been an adult human’s childhood pet.
@Argent Stonecutter
That much is true too.
Excuse me, In 1) I forgot to mentiont that Fox didn’t know about Joel not knowing about PETA’s goals.
Yeah he most likely thinks that or possible that one of his owners knew Joel in some way.
Absolutely epic safe of the watch from Fox, ladies and gentlemen!
and Last panel is even more epic!
The “Smart boy” says it all.
nah, ‘why injuring you is not ground for expulsion?’ is!
Nah, if he were smart he would stop messing with King.
smart ≠intelligent
Bino = missing both
And Valerio is correct.
One’s opinion of a character has no bearing on said character’s intelligence.
Maybe Rick should show him taking an IQ test
the test sheet burns spontaneosly. The test tools melt into a radoactive glop
You know, that might explain Boris’ dog tag
And Fido has become so muscular after a long exposition to Bino.
King looks adorable in Panel 3, and I love Bino’s change in behavior since the last strip.
Having Fido in this strip is just asking for it. Rick’s just waiting to see who’ll actually say it.
Do a barrel roll!
Old meme is old.
Old meme is muscular!
As soon as we get a character named “meme”, consider yourself e-strangled
…. well… that’s was deep moment…. but does this mean for King? He is still part of the game, and to ensure his fate he has to take of that watch till he dies?
And as for Bino (grabs Sunday Newspaper and squirt bottle)
You know, much as I hate that stuff, i wish Jeff put the shock collar back on Bino!
How about putting him the Dog Whisper?
I would love to see that!
nah, Joel should be really silly to go back to human, by now. he’s rebuilding a life as King, he’s discovering there’s still hope for him in this state -even with a jerk like Bino around!- he’s got a relly good friend and does his best to care for Sasha…
As human, he’d be on the run (best option) or in prison (worst option). Wow, really a wise choice, Mr. Robinson…
He is so much happier now than (at least we can guess that) he ever was as a human. Why would he change back?
the ONLY reason I could fathom is that in the end he may decide to get punishment for risking Fox life when he was PETA… But if he opted for that, I guess he’d first choose to tell Fox everything and ask him for forgiveness. he’d surely wouldn’t leave him without saying a word.
Well, there’s that whole shorter lifespan thing.
irrelevant, when you can live that shorter life at your fullest, with someone who’ll be there for you when you need him.
I’m not so hot on the whole “I’d have been dead ten or fifteen years ago if it were me” thing.
the lifespan of pets in this universe is longer than in ours. while still shorter than the human lifespan, it may be long enough that it’s better than life as a human with few connections in this world. plus, he could live a full pet lifespan and become human at the last minute and finish a human lifespan(unless he’d be old when he turns back)
If Joel was twenty-something and they’re not doing weird age resets, then he’s looking at a shorter life expectancy. So that’s certainly one possible reason he might want to turn back.
I though King as King was a pup?
I can believe six impossible things before breakfast.
No, seriously, I did speculate that he may be a pup, but that was just speculation based on one comment by Fido.
judging by the amount of king fans I doubt ( at least hope) that rick keeps king as a more permanent character.
That’s exactly what I think. I don’t know what I’d do if rick turned king back into Joel
Cuuuuuuute! I love those two. <3
who doesn’t?
Just a thought, that watch survived a fall from heaven. I think it would have probably been alright.
It’s magic! We saw it ‘fall’…perhaps, instead, we saw the planes overlapping like when we just walk and don’t run from a door to another.
Cuz if we applied raw physics, the watch should’ve burned in the atmospheric reentry AND kill King at the impact.
this is also a comic. in comics and TV shows anything can happen, because it’s not real.
oka @ Valerio yes the watch would have burned up on reentry. but it would not have killed king on impact its impossible becuase of air resistance, and becuase an object can’t fall faster or slower then 10 meters per second. sorry if it sounds a bit brainy but i couldnt help my self
Fox seems that he know about secret of King…
I guess he listened to it by someone
if he knows, he’s making the best of that knowledge.
There is hope.
NOW for a sentimental scene, eh?
I await.
The am i dead yet expression in panel three is epic
Panel five’s beats ‘em all.
Way to go King, that’s the way to take fate into your own hands! *brick’d*
*adds ton o’ bricks*
*uses bricks to build a wall while whistling*
*tears down walls* those things are evil!
Um, mods?
No, walls
This isn’t the place for role playing; check out the forums if you’re into that! *giggles*
I wouldn’t say he knows that he’s friend is a human turned to a dog, but MAYBE he thinks they have a connection.
“eighties era”? Has the thumbsup really become only this: http://www.abominable.cc/2011/05/11/brand-loyalty/
?
Slow mo “NOOOOOOOOOO!”
That awkward moment where you suspect your best friend was/is/is somehow connected to a dog napping, extremist.
Awww this is so nice. Sorry can’t say too much more.
… So what’s expulsion again? XD
expulsion – to be removed from a group or area
Now I kind of have a crush on Fido… Fox has broken even with my disappointment from earlier.
Fido should triple apologize to king, to say the least
Not good enough.
yes, i’d throw in a ‘No Sabrina’ zone until the end of next season.
But if Pete messes things up again, how will King find out?
By now, it can be safely expected that Pete will be incapacitated to mess up things for a while. He already was out of the Game until he found a proper avatar, instead he managed to meet the Heaven’s Tough Cop.
Kitsune will keep a very strict eye on Pete, this time.
@ valerio (lol agian) yah this is pete where talking about right he is kinda clever just cant pull anything of his tricks off. and Kitsune has been watching but he is only watching
And Fox with the save!!!
The friendship is back and Fox is about to hurt Bino very badly… happy day.
*dances*
Yes, we all do the happy dance!
i say that today be known as beat up Bino day
Phew… I will be honest, I expected the worst!
Whoever said anything about King having to learn a lesson?
http://www.housepetscomic.com/2009/12/25/so-this-is-christmas/
from this
http://www.housepetscomic.com/2009/12/02/an-undigested-bit-of-beef/
So, King is delusional. That doesn’t tell us what the “higher beings” require, if anything, to turn him back
I’d rather say that King’s learning a lesson is part of why he’s been dragged into the game.
I mean, hardly a random choice from Pete’s side…
Am I the only one who thinks that King looks kind of odd in Panel 7? It looks like he’s missing the lower half of his arms… *tilts head*
he’s just holding tight the watch while covering his crying eyes
Thank you Valerio, I also thought he looked a little armles.
And he’s doing it like a Human
And at this point we’re gonna get some Fox/King shipping. Ladies and gents! To your pens and papers!
You’re several months late, you know that? This won’t start the shipping, it’ll just put some more nitro in its engine.
There’s an engine?
The engine is more massive than people think.
Discussion of “shipping” isn’t really welcome… especially creepy ships.
The Flying Dutchman?
I just read..
the whole archive…
…in 4 hours. Near midnight.
Ow.
And I was about to throw up when I saw Bino throw it.
welcome to the club
I had a similar experience about two weeks ago when I discovered this comic too. Indeed, welcome to the club
Same thing happened to me. Blew through the whole comic one Saturday during the first Guest Week. I remember my reaction, too. “Why isn’t the next button working??? Unless… NOOOOOOOO!!!” Good to see I’m not alone.
Now I’m feeling old, I came about a month before guest week. In Christmas break I binged like 5 comics… that was terrible.
This is why your name is FOX cuz your just as sly as one.
And yes, so far in King and Fox’s friendship, this was the best moment ever.
yeah, i realized that after posting this
I really love this story arc and after some thought, I think Fox may have come to the conlusion not that Joel IS King but that King was owned by Joel or something along those line.
AHA! There are other dogs in there! Missing tags “neighbor dogs” in this strip and the previous one!
Owwww.. Cheer up King
Wow, so Bino was gonna get a punch in the face by Fox. That last part was an epic win.
For some reason I can’t help but feel that this is bitter sweet. And how many body parts of Bino’s body will be made “inoperative” this time I wonder?
hopefully enough that next time Bino will think again and again and again and very again before buyllying King.
I’m not sure that is even possible. Bino’s skull seems to be rather thick.
And his heart is made of granite
Yay! Fox saved the watch, made amends with King, and is about to beat Bino to a pulp.
All round, good day.
Okay good, Fox saved the day!
Fox is like the best friend EVER.
No, really, think about it. He’s so awesome that he’s one of the few who actually deserve the title of “bro.”
amen to that!
All the more reason for King to hold dear to Fox.
^^^I third this statement. Fox is amazing, even with king being the new guy, he made friends with him and pretty much abandoned bino. and he gave the watch back when they were fighting. Fox is definitely my second favorite character
Fox is the epitome of loyalty (though I think that’s been said already)
Fox confuses me a little. We all love him for the reasons said here, but why is he still hanging out with Bino?
Either way, I completely agree with what is being said, I like Fox more and more each time we see him.
he hangs out with Bino to watch over him and (occasionally) deal out some punishment
I think Fox will find out about King. I do not think Fox will leave King, they became quite close. It’s a concept called forgiveness.
And we still don’t know what the watch actually does— or if it does anything at all!
You’re assuming the watch/fate is anything more than a McGuffin.
It’s a McGriffin!
*facepawlms*
Ah, friendship~
Not much else to say there, heheh. And while it doesn’t bother me or anything, I’m kind of surprised that with how nitpicky everyone is, no one has pointed out that King’s footpads are black now when they used to be pink. hehehe.
When were they ever pink?
He’s right. Here’s just one example
http://www.housepetscomic.com/2010/08/25/actually-nevermind/
Hmm, interesting. Well i don’t pay too much attention to those kind of things. I just focus more on the story and what’s going on.
Looks to me that his feet are white with black pads in both cases. The pinkish hue is just from the lighting.
Also, the alt text said that Rick was experimenting with coloring, which may have had an effect on things.
(Granted, bubblegum pink->black isn’t exactly a subtle change…)
id like to see some ont take black and use only lighting to turn black to pink
oh you wanted the restroom
P.S. Pretend WHAT never happened? This incident or what happened earlier.
If what happened earlier had never happened, this incident wouldn’t've happened either
Well, yeah. But that’s not what I was asking.
Pretend that fox never kept the watch from king earlier, which means that he’s sorry and as far as I can tell, wants to be friends again.
amen to that.
now I hope King gets the message. When he’s this upset he could really do/say something he may regret…
Pretend that the whole “Joel’s Watch” thing never came up.
And pretend he didn’t just stand there, like Fido did, to watch the drama unfold without interventing
XD Interesting answer. But I think I get it now. Thanks for pointing it out, Nikola.
All in a days work for your friendly neighborhood Housepets! lover.
Fox saves the day yay
So what does he do with the watch?
Experiment?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asgIzE3fLc0
D:
Somehow, he need to get it back up to heaven where it’ll be safe
So the watch needs to be killed!
…wait
Silly billy! It’s indestructible!
If the watch is part of his soul. Would it mean he’d kill himself if it broke…?
there is a difference in panel five and six. well more than one but the speech bubbles don’t count because that’s normal. it’s that King got fuzzier in the 6th panel
It’s the way his ear is positioned, that’s what’s causing it..
fox just saved the life of his friend who is also the person who tried to kidnap him without knowing it but at the same time is slowly going through a change of heart…..
OH THE IRONY
Irony or poetic justice?
Irony
XP
Gooo Fox!
crying in joy? To me it felt more like he was crying in relief, the stress of all that had just happened finally catching up with him.
I agree with your other statement, if King ever gets the choice I hope he realizes just how much better off he is now.
Anyone here remember the film Where Eagles Dare? (a clint eastwood et al film) I can just imagine that theme song to this layout. King is such the underdog you cant help but love his helplessness of situations he gets into.
You know what I mean.
There ought to be some clause for a severe punishment to Beno other that “I’ll take that as the signal for a running star” That pups got a big ego
Kiiiing. . . <33. . .
also, I think this is my first time commenting here o. o
I love HousePets! <33 always look forward to it every other weekday X3
welcome to the forums (if this is your first post)
and King is awesome
The forums are over [this way]; this is the comment box. ;3
Still, welcome.
My prediction: King decides to throw the watch out anyway, as he realizes that he is not the man whose fate he now holds in his paws.
Well, there are two ways to get out of limbo and Sabrina had already mentioned them earlier! So we’ll find out which one he picks, won’t we!
…Unless there’s an Option Three.
I love Kings expression in panels one and three, it’s your classic movie moment to my perspective.
Corgis.. not exactly known for their jumping ability…
I hope Bino gets what he desserve.. a good tail kicking from fox
that, and a brand new shock collar >:(
You know, were I a pet in Babylon Gardens, I’d be thinking that Fox was being too generous in that last panel.
Bino: I’ll take that as a signal for a running start.
“It was.” *POW*
And I don’t even have to put up with Bino every day.
From now on, I’ll root for Max torturing Bino as best as possible!
And for Jeff to inflict punisment whenever he can!
Ah, but how do you know that’s not what’s happening in the unseen Panel 9?
By that I think it wither means Fox really wants to pound Bino right now… I still can’t believe nice guys like Fido and Joey are related to a guy like Bino…
Fox’s friendship with Bino is a total mystery.
Bino’s easiness on hys brother is a clear case of brotherly denial.
I meant, FIDO’s easiness
Then you probably wouldn’t believe I’m related to my cousins
Thats awesome! Fox came in to help King, the shot in panel 5 says it all. Well done Rick.
hehe, I agree with at least one poster above. <3 fox. =3
Mmm Fido… the dark circle around his right eye is so cute, and he’s so masculine but so sweet…
Bino in Traction… Again,,,
I’m so with you on that. Full body traction.
And then Sasha breaks up with him.
Sweet!
sasha breaks up with him like every other week lol
breaks with him AFTER getting all his allowance money!
ahh another happy ending.. King get away thinking he can avoid the game a little while longer., Bino is going to beating and still be a jerk and the griffon is in heaven jail (in a sense). Knowing that Fox may know something but willing to forgive and forget, give Fox some props. What left for king? well unless the griffon going to go after king again ( which probably at this point he probably do the smart thing and give up and find another avatar.) what else is there left for king? other to change his ways.
next strip – king is tempted to mess with his fate, but doesn’t.
Don’t spoil it!
I now have no reason to wake up for another 2 weeks. (With the exception of Saturday @ 4pm, when I graduate).
The last four panels make me wanna hug King soooo bad.
Especially the seventh panel, where he’s wiping his eyes, holding back tears. It’s just too adorable for me to take! XD
Me too, i seriously wonder how King is going to handle all this emotion going around. So much has happened in just a short period of time, it’s not even funny.
Seconded! Right now, King needs badly some confort. Hope Fox or Sabrina can give that to him *hugs Kingy*
Yeah, i wonder when King starts teling the truth, if he is going to just break down and start bawling, then start begging for Fox to forgive him.
I’m not sure though, that’s just what i picture someone doing in this type of situation.
that will be an epic moment.
I pray for Fox to be understanding. These two are MEANT to be great friends!
great kitsune comes in and wipes everyone’s memory of this arc.
He needs to be less of a jerk, so the consequences of being a jerk occur less.
Like…asking the Sun to turn spontaneously off.
not to be picky, but the wording on the last panel came off odd, idk why.
Orange soda for celebration! And forgetting your worries for a short period of time. Very short.
Ah, As all the Fox+King shippers rejoice… 0.o…
Now that i think about it, this whole arc could’ve been called “Enter the hero”
eeeeeh…i don’t see it.
Definitely, there was cerberus, sabrina, fox 1 time, sasha, joey, fido, and fox a second time. A lot of people helping out king.
I think its time King told the truth, no better time than now, after what happened right? Sure their friendship boat may be rocked, but hey it has to be done. You can do it King! Drink some orange soda to calm your nerves if you have to lol!
imagine if they had root beer then they would go crazy and i second that.
Not knowing what is going to happen between Fox and King is making me tear up.
This arc alone is making me tear up!
I just realized king and fox have the same eye color
we’ve discussed this before. the colors are slightly different.
Well excuse me, but I forgot XP
Did fox land on king? I can’t tell
Nice
So, I stumbled upon this comic today and didn’t stop reading until I realized the “Next” button stopped working. All I have to say is wow. I’ve really enjoyed the read so far.
Also, I really hope things go well for King, because he really has been drawing the short end of the stick…
Welcome to the Housepets
where things can be very funny to very sad
to really touching to D’AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’ve gone through the whole spectrum of emotions reading this comic. Which is more than I can say for any other comic I’ve read!
But you have to admit you have those moments where you just can’t stop reading one page because you love it so much.
There were a few of those actually!
OMG Fox looks adorable in the fourth panel!!
