I see the Great Kitsune has not been tagged, however.
That is upsetting, to say the least.
Why would there be a GK tag? He’s not in it. The alt text doesn’t count towards tagging, especially as an authorial “neener, neener” to the WMGers that inhabit the comments section and the forums.
(And for those not able to read the alt text: “oh well Sasha has red text I guess that means she’s the Kitsune’s avatar!”)
There is plenty of red text, and despite the fact that the Alt text says something similar to that, Tarot does not have the same text as the Dragon, which leads me to believe the Great Kitsune is present, mayhap in the undertones of Sasha’s voice, as to make it more demonic.
You misunderstood. Tarot is tarot and dragon is dragon. Tarot havent talked with dragons voice yet as far as i know
Which means that Sasha is Sasha, and GK is GK. Being that GK has his own unique text, any time I see that text, I believe that it is Kitsune talking, because that much is his. Thus, I take it as a cameo voice. You know, when somebody becomes possessed and they have that voice twelve octaves below theirs talking as they do, that is how I imagine this. And it makes for good TV.

Tarot talked under dragon’s influence when she is at the amusement park. Her eyes change color for one frame.
I have to be honest, it is a good concept, except for one small flaw. the GK dragon, and Griffon are unable to interfere in any way with kings destiny, so by those rulings of their “game” Sasha can’t be the GK’s avatar.
Sheesh. She’s got red text because she’s anime-level angry. She’s one step from pulling a hammer out of hammerspace and playing croquet with Bino’s head.

No, but Rick’s Alt-text is a handwave to the assumptions, some of which are plausible. I doubt that GK is really involved, but some of these theories are interesting and at least plausible – whether or not they apply is entirely up to Rick.
That being said, I’m of the opinion that Sasha’s text is red because it’s an evil “LISTEN TO ME OR YOU DIE” growl from Sasha; very demonic in its nature. It -would- be cool if GK was somewhere in the background, though.
And he would most likely be having a laughing fit right now. =P

I’ve seen and played many games in which they do. They’re usually there to guide the players and help the story move along, but sometimes DMs get attached to one of their characters and start playing it just for fun.
I’m not saying that’s the case here, for all I know Sasha’s just really angry and the Alt. text is a joke. I guess we won’t know that for a while.

In most of the RLRPGs that I’ve played, the main bad guy is usually directly controlled by the DM, even if he isn’t on the “Playing field”

Would the plan “Wait for Bino to Fall Asleep” have worked? Sasha is technically supposed to be a klutz, so it’s entirely possible that she was “looking at it” and it “slipped” and “a squirrel ran off with it”.
This is a comic. Do you really think the characters in the comic are going to act that logical? Where would the story and suspense be if people followed logical plans?

And what’s up with the alt text? it is really making me do a lot of questions that make me lazy to write them down here.
At a guess, the alt text is Rick going “nyah!
” to the people here and in the forums that try to read deeper meaning into things than actually exist in the actual comic (“Death of the author” aside http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DeathOfTheAuthor ).

Reading into the alt text as more than just “Rofl I’m messing with you guys because you guys iz crazy” is absolutely silly. Why would the GM of the game have a player in it?
She could be protected by the spirit realm or all sorts of silliness. Or that could have just been Pete saying “I’ve cast a spell over her for the time being so she doesn’t go cold” or something.
We don’t know if the great kitsune is the GM or if U&U even requires there to be a GM. And I think we’ve sad before that GMs sometimes play anyway. Plus: why? rule of funny!
I think the fact that GK was acting as a mediator between Pete and Spirit, and that he had the map in front of him (or whatever that tri-fold thing is, I don’t play this kind of game) I think it’s safe to assume he’s the GM, but the whole “GMs sometimes play” point is still valid.
The tri-fold thing is probably just a screen, so the other players can’t peek at his notes. Depending on the specifics of U&U, they also make great ways to fudge the dice rolls if the GM makes them then calls the effects of the actions.
but still, it says that he’s probably the GM.
Or maybe just a player who is really protective of his character sheets?

Pillow Talk is the name of a flute/sword/lightsaber carried by one of the characters from Okami called Waka. In this scenario however, pillow talk is being used in the form of the definition WhiteKitsune provided.

I don’t know what’s funnier. The comic, or that some commenters still managed to start a conversation about Sasha being GK’s avatar despite the alt text making fun of that idea.
Well, with Rick you don’t always know if he’s being funny, serious, or halfway both, and this comic Alt is a perfect example of that. He may be being serious and he may be being funny, but his history also suggests that he could be funny but still serious. Just making fun of an idea doesn’t discount it as plausible; if she is she is, if she isn’t she isn’t.
Besides, in retrospect it really would add an interesting dynamic to the comic, having Sasha as the avatar for the GK. Based on what we saw in “Dog Days of Summer”, we know that he’s all for having fun while still being true to his role as a GM, even if that means he has to intentionally interfere with the game itself (recall: King was removed from Pete’s ‘custody’ by GK himself). It also seems likely that GK would want to get something as valuable as somebody’s fate back from the paws of someone like Bino or even Peanut, who in their naivite would likely mess with it without realizing the consequences. GK seems to be a member of Heaven of some sort, and his personality till now seems to belie a strong sense of responsibility and, if I may go so far, justice. He emphasized in “Dog Days of Summer” that just because something is easy doesn’t mean it’s right, and that he doesn’t allow for rule-breaking (which is effectively what Pete did when he tried to steal King’s fate). Ergo, it seems to me that GK would indeed work in some way to get King’s fate back into its rightful place.
Given the above we may conclude that it is plausible that GK has an avatar in Sasha. Whether it is true or not is, as I said in a previous comment, entirely up to Rick.
tl;dr – Sasha being GK’s avatar would be AWESOME! And make sense at the same time!
Unfortunately, the red text is not the same as GK’s. Sasha’s red text is in a white background with black bordering while GK’s has a red border and a hint of red in the background and red text. Sasha’s just clearly very angry.
J’accord; there’s also the fact that the background of Sasha’s speech bubble is not pink, which is inconsistent with the GK’s pink speech bubble. I do not for a moment believe that GK has an avatar in Sasha, I was merely stating the plausibility of the theory and playing Devil’s Advocate. I was merely re-establishing the fact that the theory is not implausible on the evidence presented thus far.

Well, king was a human. o_o I’m sure he’d be smart enough to come up with a way to get up.
Just thought of this: If Bino does find out King took the watch, what’s he going to say? Claim revenge for the exploding catnip?
What would who say, Bino or King? King would probably pull the “it’s mine!” thing, and Bino would start working up the other dogs to gang up on King. What I worry about more, though, is if Fox finds out. This is a major betrayal of trust on King’s part towards Fox, who is really his only real friend. If this jeapordizes that relationship, then things could get a lot more depressing for King very soon. The theft may also come back to bite him in the rump with the Ferrets and Wolf family: the Ferrets wouldn’t want to be seen associating with a delinquent (it affects business) and the Wolves would likely be pressured into throwing him out, or even get mad at him themselves.
This strip is a minefield of possibilities; step on one part and you set off a chain reaction. That’s why I love it!
I think he’s probably done enough for the wolves for them to consider him part of their “pack”, and thus would protect him if he’s in trouble
Erm…aside from snuggling (voluntarily or otherwise) with Lucretia, I’m not sure what you mean by “he’s probably done enough”. Sure, I agree that he’s spent tons of time with the family and is probably considered one of them; I was just listing possibilities that came to mind, thus emphasizing the main point of my post in response to your own: this arc (and this strip) present so many different possibilities that there’s really no telling what’ll happen, and it’s awesome for it.
Turning on the fire, opening the door (which he implies he does every time, along with all the other “human” things), and taking care of the cubs (albeit as prey). It’s not hard to imagine there’s more behind the scenes

Little comment, now that I actually find myself with time:
The whole “TAKE OFF YOUR COLLAR” thing could be taken in such wonderful directions, and panel 7 makes them all so much more prominent (if wrong). This is such a wonderful example of GCPtR in the comic that it’s got me gripping my sides X’D

I believe it means “Getting crap past the rating” but it’s usually censor at the end of that phrase.
“Getting Crap Past the Radar”, but very close my trope-savvy friend ;D I think yours works better here, though; the only real censorship in the strip isn’t from a panel of media censors, but Rick himself; rating -does- seem to be the appropriate “T” here.
Yeah, in the HP! universe, “Take off your collar” seems to be the equivalent (at least in Bino’s case) to “Get naked!”. Some pets don’t seem to be that creeped out by it, but I could imagine the uproar if Peanut went streaking through a soccer game or summat.

I know, but being naked incidentally is one thing; it’s an entirely different matter for characters to flaunt that. I highly doubt we’ll ever get to see streaking housepets (for good reason, but you never know, eh?). Besides, this was simply random musing about things rather than actually expanding on it. Other pets have been shown to be averse to being naked – Grape specifically, though I can’t really think of other examples – and we really didn’t get a look at how housepet -society- views collarless housepets in that strip. All we really get is a collarless Peanut cameo, and very little social response to it afterwards.
tl;dr – Maybe, but we’ve no evidence to firmly ground that claim.

I’m not a mod, but at a guess context matters. In this particular case it’s part of a famous quote, and talking about the actual place where Christian belief says sinners who have died are sent.

I liked the book better.
Who Censored Roger Rabbit? was a really epic book, but I think I liked the movie better myself. Just the explosiveness of the visuals and the (at the time) amazing merger between cartoons and live action. It was still a good book though, easily up there among my faves (sadly I haven’t read it since High School, all those years ago… T-T)
I wonder what Sasha gets from this. I mean, she doesn’t want to lose Bino as a boyfriend (or so I assume), and I can’t imagine King having anything that she would want or need, especially since he already built her a doghouse. I guess we’ll find out in the coming pages.

Bino is the most unobservant thing I have ever seen….
I know that all of the pets show many expressions but for some reason i enjoy Bino’s so much more than the others….maybe because certain pain is usually around the corner(99.9% self-inflicted)

So I noticed he said he paid like 10 dollars on her present last year. Making a big deal. So I was wondering do they get paid very little? Because bino is making it sound like he spent alot of money.
I doubt Sasha gets an allowance at all, given how her owner treats her, but the other pets seem to get enough that 10 bucks does seem stingy.

I’ve just finished reading the entire archive and I’m going insane. How can you guys stand to wait for days on end for a new comic to come out. I’ve been waiting a few hours and I’m ripping my hair out. This comic was my favorite thing ever and now I’ll have to wait days every time I want to see the next slide.
