@ Dissension: I would recommend that you place this in a highly visible spot “just above” the comments thread, and make it obvious so people can read it. Posting it in the comment thread each time seems to have the effect of having at least 3 people comment on the “THESE ARE THE RULES” block and not on the comic… there by violating your rules anyway. Just saying… seems it would make for a lot less work on you too.

Yeah that’s a good point. But then again, that would take up alot of space. Maybe hide it with a “Commenting rules” button. Like they do with spoilers and the such, there has to be a function on that in this WordPress thingy. I guess….
This. Many of us DO follow the rules, anyway. It would be useful to be able to view them easily while we’re commenting, nonetheless, just in case we’re about to say something that may or may not break the rules; in that case, we can check.
If we provide only a link to the rules, people who do not follow it and are subsequently banned for some major offense will complain that the rules were not clearly posted. Likewise, most people do not read any text posted with the comic, but do read the comments. Posting this way allows for maximum visibility and likelihood of compliance.
maybe if Rick found a way to post them within the comments section at the same time he posts the comic. new readers are more likely to listen t rules posted by the author than a moderator who they may not know is a moderator.

Idea: when you wrote the comment and all, once you press ”Post Comment”, a java pop-up should.. pop up ! x3 there will be the rules and 2 buttons, as in ”i accept it” and the ”X” that will close the pop-up with out posting the comment
Vlad, the comments section isn’t custom code specific to HP. That would require more control over the code than Rick and the mods have.

Hey you stole my old picture lol. Tarot with the green swirls. thats okay though i dont use it anymore. This comic is taking a strange turn as compared to the way it flowed in the past, but i wont complain. I just hope we get back to it being about peanut and grape sometime. I hope we learn what happened to Pete exactly. Judging by what Sabrina said I suspect that he was in fact arrested and thrown in jail or where ever heaven would put beings like Pete like I thought would happen. However I would like to know for sure just what happened to him.
Heh, that’s kind of awesome. Seems like King didn’t notice that the watch was related to him (the text of his name was pretty tiny after all. Either that or he didn’t take Fate’s hint.

it’s like the guys on Supernatural. they’ve seen vampires, werewolves, ghosts, demons, and various other supernatural beings, but they’re still shocked to learn that dragons and phoenixes exist.
Sasha is picking up Tarot’s doom news delivery habits. I love it! Cosmic horror level is pretty severe. This crosses into eldritch abominations and everything that entails. This is going to be interesting.

it actually looks creepy with the tiny pupils being just out of view. he looks as though he has none. unless they actually got so small that they disappeared.
Of course the glowing eyes at night thing is incompatible with BSOD-eyes, ‘cos it’s the pupil that glows.

Now there’s a thought…I’m busy trying to picture what a were-joel would look like though.
You know, I find it a bit off-putting that King is being used as a pawn, is turned into a dog, etc. and, even though he’s troubled by it, he’s generally OK with it all.
he was in jail before. why wouldn’t he be okay with being a dog?
I’m pretty sure Joel would’ve expected to be in jail than to be turned into dog.
Oh, I think he’s still pretty upset about it – but the Great Kitsune and Spirit Dragon did imply they’d turn him back after the game readily enough, so it’s not a sole concern.
So flying over the wall is indeed an unauthorized way to get into heaven – thus the “broke into” part. Either the Spirit Dragon or Tarot got the news as well; possibly because of Pete’s rather public encounter.
Fate being a part of your soul is interesting; if it works internally, does it influence your actions, or does it somehow affect the world around you? Is it an inclination, an overall outcome, or govern a more or less limited set of specific events?
This does, however, make it seem likely that Joel / King simply couldn’t read the name on the watch in the dark.
You know what Fate (in this universe) may be your instinct/intuition about things since its a piece of your soul. You know like when people say that they had a “Gut Feeling about this.” and stuff like that.
There’s an asian interpretation of the soul as (i think) 7 parts, each one counting as a self-contained soul. I think that’s the kind of thing Rick’s going for here.

The time on the watch; Was that the correct time? Or how much time that ‘King’ has left?
Usually some ones time appears in the form of an hour glass, so I was wondering if the watch eluded to that, representing a modern concept of the same idea, or if it really just told the time as a brilliant form illusion to keep itself hidden.
In retrospect the fact that it has his name on it, and the fact that is a watch is reminiscent to timelords and how they would store a part of them-self in a watch to turn human and hopefully remain undetected to entities that were chasing them.
It said “PM”, so I think it was the correct time. Several people have said that it isn’t how much time he has left, but there’s nothing official
well in the first scene of the watch it said 6:02 and then alter said 6:03 so if it’s time left there may be a problem

heh, nice. I agree to this, and he certainly is better as a dog then a human anyway based on how much he’s changed while still keeping parts of himself the same.
What about his falling out his childhood pets? You can’t really get over when your pets treat you like trash at that age. If this was anime, they would should how pointless Joel’s anger was for them for all those years by showing them a side he didn’t see/remember… but considering how he was part of PETA he may have realized that being a kid was very stressful for pets turned strays…
The only problem is that his best friend doesn’t know that he is the human who kidnapped him.

I suspect that he keeps seeing things that any human would say obviously have to be done, and is annoyed that he’s the only one in the house who sees those things or takes care of them.
Of course, as http://www.housepetscomic.com/2011/01/17/dream-by-the-fire/ showed us, they’ve never had to deal with such things before; so it’s not like they know how
Oh yes. But when has Cranky King / Joel been rational about things like that?
Who’s more fitting to do the human things around the house than the guy who is/was human.
And the bad news is: the watch was not water-proof
but technically it isn’t a watch, it just chose that physical form when entering the mortal world, as a metaphor perhaps

How does it prove that? Sure, he realizes that the watch wasn’t his, but nothing in the comic has said anything either way about his ability to read writing.

I’m glad we’re seeing more of Sabrina in recent arcs. Now she’s more than just Fido’s GF; she has become a much stronger contribution to the comic as a whole.
For this arc, I think the whole thick-line thing is really working out well. Do you think you’ll keep using this style, Rick, or are you more inclined to keep this as an experiment for this arc only?
I have been liking the style a lot; I think that I’ll probably be keeping it.
Huh, wonder how Pete will be punished up there… unless he goes down under… I think the worse punishment yet simplest punishment is to make him watch those Merry Molodies in the new Looney Tunes SHow, the ones with Yosemite Sam as a rapping baby, Marvin in a techno dance music where he sings “La-la-la-la-li-li-loo”, and of course Fudd singing like Barry White about “Gwill-Cheese”, in manner fitting from Clock Work Orange.
I feel I have been put under immense torture just by being informed of the existence of such things. I’m a bit sorry for Pete but he did this to himself. I get this impression though, like he’s one of those guys that’s only a real jerk when trying to win a game and only slightly jerky as his regular self yet tolerable. I hope to see more of Pete, Spirit Dragon, and Great Kitsune soon as a result of Pete’s capture.
Maybe he like kind of jerk like Satan from Bedazzled, he does what he does because he is REALLY is such a loser and tries too hard to impress the Big Man of All.
Though we can’t over look at the idea that Pete is the “Joel” of “higher order” beings…

Hm. How about PETA dognaps Fox again (for what would be at least the third time judging by the “Oh not AGAIN!” reaction back in Joel’s original arc – http://www.housepetscomic.com/2009/05/06/something-is-missing/ ), and Joel / King gets to jump into the drivers seat while Fox is being stuffed into the back. This leads to car-chase chaos as Joel / King attempts to steer while hang from the steering wheel and stretching out both his neck (to peer over the dashboard) and his legs (to try to reach the pedals), with all the inevitably chaotic results and questions as to where he learned to do that?
Or maybe just for someone to talk to who isn’t so open and straightforward – or Bino.
Oh man, I want to see your first scenario now. That sounds so funny to watch King try and drive.
