I am located in the north of alabama where the TVA nuclear plant was put out of commission, so I won’t have power for a few days. I will be trying my hardest to catch up when I get back though
In case you’re wondering, I’m posting this from my phone, which I am charging inside the car

Is fine.
At least nothin bad happened to you rich. I think we can all wait. And on Monday we might get 2 comics
Actually when I get back I’ll probably stagger it daily until I’m caught up
YAY! That would be so awesome
Rick, at least you’re alright, and that’s all that matters. I can wait.
Oh well nothing you can do about it hopefully it won’t be long
Hey man, no problem, surely the fans comprend. Keep the good work, good luck dude
That is quite alright, i don’t mind as long as your alive and kicking
I too live in Alabama…. really glad you didn’t get blown away
Lemon power. Duh :3
That only works if you have a lemon.
Though I guess the meaning of the word “lemon” can be altered depending on what car Rick is (was) sitting in.
Hehehe. I was actually thinking about that, too.
Unintended jokes are awesome.
If life hands you lemons, you make lemonade! And when you’re no longer thirsty and remember that lemons can be batteries, you’ll be out of lemons
That’s hardcore. Good luck with whatever’s going on! Nuclear plants generally have a thick layer of security on all levels – unless they’re, like, soviet-era – so it’ll probably be back up in a while.
For as uneventful as I believe my life to be, I was also enrolled in UAH during the shooting two years ago
“I also have a fairly popular Web comic and thousands of fans.” *laughs*
Rick, hope everything turns out fine. You’re lucky to be alive with all these storms and stuff. Just keep up with taking care of yourself and your family, we can wait! comics aren’t nearly as important as your health! I’ll be praying for the safety of you and your family. God bless, Rick!
Hey, it’s alright. Nothing you can do about it, right? …unless, of course, you go ninja-status and raid the plant.
BUT that’s just hypothetical. …for most.
Well, he could drive through the night until he finds some place with power, and then go door-to-door until he finds someone who will let him connect his laptop to the internet, but that’s probably not a good idea at this hour.
He could always come to my place. If he’s near the plant, he’s near me. I’m just outside the effected zone. Some of my neighbors are without power, actually.
Twitter him! Last I heard, he was going to go all the way to Indiana!
yes Rick, if you are alright, other thing doesn’t matter…
We can wait. I think we all understand that life can get in the way of things like this.
You know, I always thought Alabama used Eastern Time, like Ohio. ‘Guess I never really checked until now.
well now you know, and knowing is half the battle! G.I.JOOOOOOOOE!
Thanks for letting us know, Rick. As long as you are alive and well, all is as it should be.
And here I like wild weather, and then it goes and stabs me in the back like this!
I shall have to go back to being a mad scientist and build a weather-control device.
But it’s good that it’s nothing worse than a lack of power and a connection.
My thoughts exactly! Except that I’d go back to being a mad scientist to build some super-battery
Espero que se resuelva pronto U.U
We all do.
(Translation: I hope it gets sorted out soon)
Unacceptable! I’m going to use my transporter to go to that plant right now and force them at laser point to get the power back on or i will go lucretia on their butts!
http://www.housepetscomic.com/2011/01/17/dream-by-the-fire/ this comic fits PERFECTLY with how i’m feeling and rick’s current situation
It’s okay Rick. As I can see everyone has the same idea so just look after yourself and we’ll be all okay.
BTW did the plant got put out cuz of the thing happened in Japan? Cuz I just can’t understand why ppl “panic” aboot those saying “They are unstable and dangerous to everything.” when it took the combined damage of an earthquake and tsunami to get where it is now?(If off topic then off topic, you can moderate.)
That was my first thought too. However, it looks like the storms knocked out the power lines that feed the power plant, and the power plant can’t be started-up without power; kind of a chicken-and-egg problem. They’re hoping to have the power lines fixed “by Monday”
They also don’t want to light up the grid while there are still downed lines draped across roads and stuff like that.
Because that would be, you know, bad.
Or something.
AH! Now I understand. Thx guys for the info.
I was about to ask about this incident too, as i scrolled down i thought had something ’sploded? but now i know, still that’s a little inconveniant i bet!
You say what now? O_o”
The comic is usually ‘late’ I don’t quite understand why you put in the effort to give explanations why, etc. it’s fine – we’ll get it when we do and that’s good enough. =)
The comic posts at 12 AM precisely, Central Standard Time (1 AM Eastern, 6 AM Greenwich) Delays that deviate from that are actually rare
Frank you’re just an endless source of knowledge aren’t you. Thanks for all you do. And Rick, may all the beings of the cosmos be with you. =)
Yeah Frank is right this many delays (this one and what happened last arc and last strip) are very very rare. This many delays are like some sort of freak occurrence, especially so close together like this.
you sure it’s not because your tax problem? *bricked*
*taxes you for the brick*
And i hope things get restored soon too, Rick. And safe journeys!
Yikes.
Stay safe Rick.
I guess there’s nothing you can do if it comes to nuclear power plants
Most important is that you are safe, Mr. Griffin. And I hope this break in delivering power supplies won’t give you too much trouble and you will be able to return to what you like to do
Oh geez. I hope you’ll be okay, Rick. No worries on the comic. Stay safe.
The comic can easily wait. Thank you so much for letting us know that you’re okay.
Wait, so a plant gets shut down and that means the whole region surrounding it hasn’t power for multiple days? Can’t you feed power in to the local grid from the adjacent ones?
Depends on the condition of the power grid itself. They may have to fix the lines.
Hopefully the power comes on sooner than later. Cold showers are no fun to take.
News outlets report it should come back online, or at least the process to start it back up will begin, on Tuesday.
Just glad to know you’re alright.
Well at least your okay.
(someone post me a news link? I’m kinda in the dark about the story.)

Just google ‘tuscaloosa tornado’ or ‘birmingham tornado’.
Oh, about the plant? http://wpln.org/?p=26471
Oh, thanks!
Im just glad your alright dude! The fact than your thnking about your fans at a time like this is very impressive sir
I’m just glad you’re ok and still alive. Read your Twitter and apparently your house got off pretty easy, is that right? Well, this is what’s called insurance “Force Majeure” so we all understand. I’m also glad Browns Ferry managed to shut down successfully without incident
I didn’t even know about that. ^_^; Glad you’re fine, though, man, take your time ^_^
Yay for nuclear plants! When I was a little kid, I wanted to work and study about stuff related to nuclear power… not anymore.
Anyway, good thing that you are okay, and good thing that it didn’t blow up (the nuclear plant).
The wait will be worthy.
Sweet home Alabama! … … … I like that song.
“Where the skies are so blue”
Ah, man. I did not know they shut that down. I hope it’s temporary, because there are only so many things I can be proud of Alabama having.
In other news, Rick got power back:

Just glad to know he’s alright. I’d like to say something like “Maybe things can get back to normal now,” but after all the damages and lives lost not going to be any time soon. Stay safe man and see you back soon. =)
Hnnng… more delays during a juicy arc!
No comic tonight either http://twitter.com/#!/RicksWriting/status/65243460944404480
North AL as well? I got caught in that mess, decided to get out of town to FL for the shuttle launch. The launch didn’t happen but FL beat sitting around the house without power for a week.
i’m lucky that nothing bad happened here in mexico n.n
