The fifth wall is the wall between audience members, as they don’t interaction or acknowledge each other while watching a play together so… I don’t think so? I actually don’t know.

the fifth wall can be any where. but I was confused when I first made this comment. Elwood’s comment below about unbreaking the fourth wall does make more sense.
The fifth wall is the ceiling. The sixth wall is the floor. If you break the sixth wall you better be good at plummeting.
I love how there’s always so many interesting conversations here, take now for an example, you’re discussing how many walls that got broken (whatever that means) in this strip, but what does that have to do with anything, right?

the fifth wall is not a wall persay but a principle
“I got to thinking about the 4th Wall a while back, and I realized that if a character breaks the fourth wall and there is an imaginary audiance reading the story, then the imaginary audiance must be contained by another wall. The 5th Wall.
If the imaginary audiance breaks the 5th wall, and if there is another imaginary audiance, then the 6th Wall comes up. And so on. I call it the 5th Wall Principle.
A good example is the Tv Tropes the Tv show story. The imaginary audiance is interacting with characters who broke the fourth wall, but that audiance isn’t aware that they are a part of the story, so they have to be contained by another wall.
An alternative view is that the characters never broke the 4th Wall and it just expanded to contain the imaginary audiance. But then you have to ask what was containing the audiance before the characters broke the 4th wall.
Whenever there is another layer beyond the story where the 4th Wall is broken, and those characters are unaware they are part of a story, there is another wall.

I don’t think that “5th wall” is created until the imaginary audience is explicitly depicted, as for example in the finale to Mel Brooks’ “Blazing Saddles”. I don’t recall if that movie breaks the 5th wall.
But if the audience turns out to be real, and the existence of the actors is part of the storyline (I’ve seen examples of this where a movie starts on set but you don’t see that it’s a set until after the titles) then the 4th wall isn’t broken.
imagine a 5th wall breaking as watching an episode of sienfield and then they turn the camera on the live audience

So if lets say i am reading this comic and all of a sudden peanut starts talking to ME and me directly (the audience) then he has broken the fourth wall, but at the same time me interacting with him is part of the comic but i don’t realize it is then i am contained by the 5th wall, if i am aware that i am part of the comic by interacting with peanut who has broken the fourth wall then i have in turn broken the 5th wall.

Right, but the television audience isn’t part of the show, there’s no 5th wall between them and you, like there’s no 4th wall between you and a weatherman or guests on a talk show.
So I guess the 5th wall doesn’t get created when you see the audience. It gets created when you see that the audience is part of a fictional narrative as well.

I really enjoyed the performance of Dog #1. Simply inspiring his work.
His owner wasn’t very creative with names, apparently.
I for one was awestruck by Guy in Background. Robert Downey Jr. gave the character justice.
I’d ask how they got the budget for Kirk Lazarus’ cameo but the ferrets aren’t know for being good with money.
I think Saucy Fox is an awesome name for a fox, very creative.

Well i have to hand it to you rick, i did NOT like where this was going back after you got your computer fixed but this comic, THIS comic, made it all better.
i really like this a lot as not only does it negate any 4th wall-smashery but it adds a funny, unexpected, and original twist to the arc.

Stuff happened, he wanted to tell the story of what happened, the 4th wall is broken, Rock decides to produce Bino’s tale, they go the path of tropic thunder and decide to film a renactment of a fictional event, the only copy is deleted, they film the non-ficional reanactment of the reanactment of a fictional event, the 4th wall is unbroken, something about Robert Downey Jr… Inception… computer problems… pancakes…
