For those coming in late, my computer has been dead for about two weeks and now that I (mostly) have it back, it feels like coming home from a war. So here’s a comic about a dog being insanely megalomaniacal.

Oh, wow. This page was just the thing I needed to break me out of my “my throat is too sore” slump. Slight disappointment, tempered by the fact that Bino has to redo it because of the computer errors.

I think “magic” means parlor tricks, while “magick” means powerful, special-effects-loaded spells. So saying it was “magic(k)” means that it felt like a parlor trick, with a hint towards a powerful, special-effects-loaded spell

I can’t believe there’s no predictions yet.
I predict wacky hijinks with a freelance dogcatcher working for a neighboring town who turns out to be the crooked Milton relative casing out the ferrets because it turns out he needs to steal one of Keene’s old collars to figure out the code the map is in using a key engraved on the back of the tag. He convinces Bino to help him by tempting him with a slice of the riches (and being Bino that’s not hard). Meanwhile Rex has been following and rescues Bino… who is horrified that he won’t be getting any ferret moolah, and sneaks back into the truck… but this time it turns out to be a real dogcatcher and Bino ends up in the pound. He’s finally rescued with the aid of a cat (who has to talk him into it, after all Bino’s no “cat lover”). The final tricky twist has the Milton relative being hauled off to the zoo in a bear costume… which Rick never explains.

I decided to run with it when I realized a couple of my earlier comics would have been much funnier had I decided to go that route. I’m still going to limit it to specific story branches (much less, say, King’s arc than one that’s pretty much intended to be a gag vehicle)
Don’t worry, I’m not going to be doing it to substitute for jokes, which is the general problem most of the time.
But the out-of-character stuff is still out-of-character, right? It’s not canon that they know they’re in a comic strip.
canon or no, Rick can break the fourth wall all he likes, because it’s really freaking funny.
And? They exist to make us laugh and they are making us laugh therefore they exist. I think.
Well to tell the truth every comic has it’s own rules about cannon. So some are more conservative and don’ use it outside of event gags(April 1. and such) and others like our Rick here sometimes mixes it in since his Houspets! universe isn’t all that stiff(there are freakin demigods and spirit worlds just to name a few :p).
On the other hand it’s also an interestin idea to separate these two POVs by using things like “Backstage” episodes. At least that’s how I immagine my comic. :p
P.S.: This is just MY twisted way of thinking so feel free to brand me wierd. XD
