Sorry guys, my laptop is in need of repairs again, and I don’t have same-day or overnight repairs anymore since the warranty expired. I’m probably not going to be able to have it repaired until this weekend.

For a thousand dollars I could build you two desktops that are way better then that laptop. Seriously, why do people pay this much laptops? Also that laptop retails at 1300$ – 1800$. You’ve got to be kidding me. Laptops are worthless.

I despise laptops. Mine gives me trouble all the time. I hope you get yours repaired soon and that it isn’t too serious. See you soon.
But what’s the alternative (as far as being able to run anything while still being portable)? An iMac?
Get a cheap desktop from Goodwill as a spare. I just got one that was $80 with an Athlon X64 dual core, 1GB of RAM, GF 8600 video, and a DVD-RW. Install a cheap hard disk and Ubuntu and then use VMware Converter to suck your laptop in as a virtual machine.
By the way, they call this a “naked computer”. HAND

Sorry, nitpicky. I, too, despise laptops, mostly because
1)I have one, and it is the “bane of my existence,” as it is slow and hampered by a measly 1.6 GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. It is a 2006 Toshiba Satellite a200 series machine, and yes, I know I need an upgrade.
2)The things are just so darn expensive, I paid a total of $800 CAD for mine at Future Shop (though that included a printer and extended warranty). When you can get a desktop for the same price or a little bit more that is so much better. For example, a 15.6″ laptop at BestBuy is $429.99 with an AMD Athlon II P340 Processor and 4GB memory, with a 500GB hard drive, while a desktop is available for $479.99 with a triple-core processor, 4GB memory, and a 640GB hard drive. Some may view $50 as a huge leap, while others may regard it as nothing. It’s your call.
tl;dr: I hate laptops. Buy a desktop.

Man, that sucks – laptop troubles, I mean. These things are expensive enough, and I remember well the chaos that ensued when my last laptop died.

Knowing how fans can be sometimes, he can probably ask and get one the best laptops ever from someone.
This happens all the time with webcomic artists who output good comics. If you have a decently-sized fanbase, and you ask for financial help, you’re likely to get to your goal in less time than you originally thought.

In unrelated news, Housepets! looks great on the Opera Mini browser for PSP (though, of course, downloading the comic or potentially using an RSS reader w/ picture capabilities would probably work better, but this works fine for when certain people close to me take my iPod Touch).

Amazingly, despite the crapiness of my computer, I have never had to get it repaired. Not even when I spilled honey tea on the keyboard, in my resourcefulness I went out and got a full USB keyboard.
So, no, I don’t feel your pain, but I am praying that all goes well and you get it fixed, with no more problems in the near future.
As far as I’ve seen, “knowing” how to use a computer means knowing how to push it past the limit, and being careful enough to keep it within that limit. It’s when you slip up that problems start…

Patient is showing growing signs of intolerance due to lack of update. His speech is now tainted with a marked Russian accent. Patient has tried to talk to other patients, claiming that he could create an illuminated society in which everyone could be a comic author of equal skill, to grant constant and copious update. We had to sedate him when he successfully founded a party.
During sleep, patient is yipping and barking. We are keeping him under observation.

repaired, i wonder what happened to it. O_o I’ve never needed to repair any of my computers, and it’s like, 6 years old. xD
On his Twitter he said the fan failed or something like that. (I’m too lazy to actually check)
