Why must someone post a copy of the Alt text every update?
for those using a device on which they cannot mouse over, such as an iPhone.
However for some reason when its in the comments it feels like the alt text has no purpose.
agreed. It’s practical, but it just feels weird seeing it in the comments while you can read it. the iPhone should have a way to read alt text.

King is smaller that some of the cubs. Some cubs are roughly the size of peanut, some are a little smaller and King is around the size of the smallest cub. Lucretia should look bigger, particuliary in the first panels.

Wonder if Rick is a fan of old George Carlin. He had a segment in one of his early albums (I forget which, off the top of my head) talking about daytime TV of the 70s (when the concert was performed), and how women called soap operas “my story”. I think it was mentioned in his routine on the seven words you can never use on television (nor in the comments for the comic, so I won’t link it, but search Youtube for “carlin seven words”), but I’m not sure.
Needless to say, being Carlin (if one that’s not as much a jerk as later in his career) and given the subject, it’s very much NSFW.
Well, at least he doesn’t have to worry about his back becoming stiff.

Actually, that was Tad Stones, discussing one of the principles of the Aladdin TV show: “When in doubt, hurt the bird”. People loved seeing Iago get smushed. There’s usually a character like that (Iago in Aladdin, Batty Koda in Ferngully). Sometimes it’s even the lead (Darkwing Duck, Daffy Duck, Donald Duck, wait a second… there’s a trend here…).
You know, that’s because almost nobody likes Iago. By that logic, we should be hurting Lester instead.
You know, I could live with that. I could definitely live with that.
(Of course, Bino works too, but Lester is more recent. Actually, I don’t think we’ve seen Bino in a while. Argh, I’ve neatly derailed my train of thought and driven it off into the eastern sunset.)
No, people do like Iago. Iago started out a bad guy, but he’s trying to be a good guy, and he doesn’t always succeed… he’s flawed… but he’s a sympathetic character for all that.
Mozenrath wasn’t nearly as sympathetic, at least until the end of his arc, but they never got a laugh out of seeing him get hurt.
I actually do like Iago.

It’s not a contradiction to being king. Just a mild unpleasantly of who King could become.
Kind of like, it’s good to be king, until they bring out the torches and pitchforks. For Ceaser it was a knife (despite he was a great leader), for the founders of Rome it was their brother’s hand, and for King it very well may be Lucreta’s love of soap.

Soap Opera is a low budget TV series. The name came about because the first soap operas were created in the era when a TV show usually had a single primary commercial sponsor, and these kinds of TV shows tended to be sponsored by companies selling household products.

From the shade of fur color, I figured it had to be a wolf; either a pup or Lucretia. Then I saw the eyelashes, plus “my pups” in the speech bubble.

Im new to commenting, what happened to you?
Oh, I used to comment A LOT, along with a few others. It’s one of the reasons there are comics with 900 comments on them: Me, Hypergenesis, and some others. Mostly I remember the Squidfletcher Incident– the moral of which is to not go too far off topic.
Anyway, school happened. Running Start Student here, and for Fall Quarter I took German and Peer Mentoring (tutoring someone, basically) at my high school and Precalculus AND English 101 at the college. What with bussing, homework, and exhaustion, I didn’t have time to get on here much.

Well-intentioned criticism.
In the third panel, why is King’s lower part of his mouth cut out? It’s not kinda nice to look at it, if the characters are nicely positioned in every other panel.

It’s not; you can see the lines, but the colour does almost meld into Lucretia’s fur.

The lower part of his mouth is out of (in a movie term) the shot . And I don’t see any possible interference to King’s lower part of the mouth because of Lucretia’s arm. Her arm is the closest to him on his left cheek.
Even if his lower mouth is not seen properly, because of her arm, I don’t see the reason why that part of the body would be out of the panel in the first place. It’s a head. It’s not always nice to look at an image where one part of a man’s (in this case, of an animal) head is chopped of.
If today’s comic was drawn completely by ignoring the basics of planning and positioning a character(s) in a room for a shot, for a good noticeable reason, then I wouldn’t take notice. The reason why I’m mentioning this, is because the other three panels were so nicely done, and looking at the third panel made me think that it was out of place in today’s comic.
I don’t have a problem with the idea behind the third panel, it’s excellent. A little bit more down would be excellent, so that it can match the other panels.
I hope Rick that you don’t take this personal, this criticism is completely well intended. An artist to an artist.

It’s one of those rules of cartooning: you don’t move the camera from one panel to the next; it throws readers off.
Of course you could ask why the camera is so high when King is so short, but I’m guessing Rick is trying to ensure only the humans get their faces covered by their speech bubbles
Very nice, but I’m surprised nobody else has commented on Lucretia’s new, ’shapely’ figure. If we compare it to her appearance in “The Visitor” arc, it’s less boxy now and more curvy. It’s an intriguing change, since it anthropomorphicizes her even more in contrast to Miles and Daryl. And if I recall correctly, she was the one who emphasized that their life sucked as ferals.
Basically this is an English Major’s observation to the work of another English Major. It’s a well-done strip, and has plenty of new connotations behind it to keep it interesting.
Great to see Lucretia again! ^_^
She raises an interesting issue what with the power outage and everything. Talk about a generational gap. I can imagine the pack being told about this tradition of going camping in the summer, and the adults feeling the same way.
I laughed at the comment about her missing her stories. If you think wild animals becoming dependent on human food was bad, just wait – now they’re becoming dependent on our soap operas as well!
One might think King would be in danger if Miles were to see him all cuddled up with Lucretia…
…were it not for the fact that he’s in danger right now because Lucretia is crushing him….
