The Author of the series can indeed be a dog just to be funny in my opinion.
I can personally see something funny also like Grape, Max, all the cats or a mix of the three not knowing until they actually see her, just going by what people said/wrote =P

Yeaaaah…..feet……sure. Also I like the eyes of Max and Grape in panel 3. Just like your other artwork. I’ve never seen you use those eyes (pupils) on Housepets before.

Actually, “foot” would make sense since it (front paw or back paw) would be the only part of an animal not covered in fur; thus being perfect to have a tattoo-er trace over …once signed.
…unless of course your one of those “dye-each-individual-hair” kinda people.
You get people in SL wearing detailed tattoo overlays on a fur-textured avatar. I find that disconcerting.

It still looks just plain wrong to me.

Huh? The problem isn’t that it’s dye, it’s that if you dye fur or hair it shifts and moves and details get blurred out. If they had tats that showed the fur texture that’d be fine, but what they have makes it look like they’re covered in fur-textured body paint instead of actual fur, and completely blows the illusion.
