alt-text: “snow is tasty but not all at once”
*facepalm* Ok, that was expected…
I’m curious as to why people feel the need to state the alt-text..when it is clearly readable via: mouse over. Sorry for picking on you ZV, but i always see it in the comments for every comic…it just strikes me as redundant.
I read housepets on my ipod so I can never see the alt text… I love the fact that the alt txt are now posted in comments~ So yeah, a big thanks to everyone who’s posting the alt-text! Thanks!

Yes, this is the main reason we do such. It also saves Rick a little bit more work by not making him write it down on the author’s comment area also. Originally, however, if you look at the past strips, specifically before the introduction of Spo-in-a-box, the alt-text was the title of the comic strip, so in that case, it did help a bit, but it made the comic strips have elongated names for no good reason…
I read the comic on my palm pre, so I am quite happy for the alt text being posted. It alows me to read the comic on the bus rather than having to wait all day to get home to a computer.

Agreed. I don’t live near the coast though. I live on an island and the only thing similar to snow fights for me are sand fights.
I live in near the coast, a really warm one. The more “cold” ever was about 5° or 6°C. And yes sand fights are funny, but not when you have sand in your mouth and eyes.

You know, this is the second example of “You’ll remember this and treat your kids the same way, and you will enjoy it because you had it hard” that I’ve seen today.
Moral of the Story: Your children are no different than how you were when you were a kid; neither are your parents to how you are now (if you ever become a parent someday, this will keep being valid to you).

Peanut with pups? How old is Peanut again and how old do pets live in this universe? Do they live the same amount of time like regular humans?

They’ve got double their normal lifespan so Peanut would have about 20-25 years instead of 10-12. How old anyone is never gets mentioned (this isn’t a strip where the characters age noticably anyway).
I’m gonna go waaaaay out on a limb here and speculate. The comic began in 2008. So that puts 2 years on his age as of now already. As some have mentioned in the one offs, the characters have been acting like teenagers. So, in dog years accoding to the comic (as far as I’ve seen) that would roughly place Peanut at 4-5. Which would place Grape at 3-4, since she’s a year younger. I’m guessting more 4 than 5 though. Since I think, 6 is pretty much an adult at least according to “Housepets: Remnants of the American Nomad”. So, that’s my guess.
If you read Sabrina’s story being serialized in the Doghouse she says pets can live up to 40 years.

Snow is crystalized water vapor. You know when a freezer starts getting a thick layer of frost on the walls? That’s technically snow (supposing you don’t let it melt and refreeze)
But it looks fluffy… The one on the freezer walls is usually hard ice

Snow is like holding baby powder, but it’s kind of watery and it’s colder. VERY NICE!!!!
Shaved ice is kind of like old packed snow. Fresh snow is like heavy soap bubbles, except it’s cold.

Hehe… my “Peanut” dearly loved thrown snowballs. He’d chase them and try to catch them like that before they hit the ground. He’d act dissapointed if they did! I guess that german shepherds are made of sterner stuff than poor Peanut… his name was Baillif, so I guess that fits
OK, weird question but does that mean that Peanut has not been neutered, I just assumed that most pets in this strip had been fixed.
I don’t believe so. If I were responsible for a sentient non-human, I’d be very reluctant to try and control their behaviour with surgery any more than I would on behalf of my children. Although, considering some of the little monsters I have met…
