it’s probably grape referring to a cat’s tendency to lick themselves clean. if grape has mud on her fur, and she licks it off to avoid getting in the bathtub, she has (literally) eaten mud.

We have one cat who likes to come watch us take showers. She sits on the edge of the tub behind the shower curtain and occasionally paws around the edge at the water.
Now I think of it, in the HP universe that would be pretty creepy.

I don’t know all the specifics, I’m not a salivamatician, but if I remember right, canines have something unique in their saliva that acts like a disinfectant. That’s why they lick wounds.

Yes, I’ve heard tests and watched Mythbusters prove that a dogs mouth is cleaner then a humans, and a toilet is cleaner than a phone. Grossed me out for a while… then I got over it.

I have to agree with Grape. I have 2 cats and a dog, yet between just one cat and the dog, the cat beats the dog on the grossness level. Aren’t cats supposed to be clean animals? I guess not… sort of.
But then again. is being covered in spit REALLY clean.
Who knows? Dogs chew their buttocks (funny, yet real word) all day.
Then, they go roll in and/or eat whatever they find. Animals are just wierd. But, HP! makes them even cooler!

I have a feeling King has never touched his(probably would help the stress). Do you really think any of the other dogs do any different? The only one I can picture cleaning the bone is Fido.
You know, that makes me wonder–do pets in this world, when they’re done with their business, still clean themselves the same way they do in reality? Or do they use toilet paper like everyone else?
In other gross news, I’m not surprised Peanut would do this–after all, I -do- have a dog, myself, and I know they eat some pretty gross stuff. (And yet, while their tongue goes less gross places, I don’t let them lick me while I do let cats…)

Wait- has peanut’s arm been cut in half in the second panel? Because the end of his arm, where it’s overlapped by the cabinet, has an outline.
It’s not cut. He’s reaching into the cabinet. The outline brings the characters out from the background.
If the cabinet is in the foreground it should probably be outlined.
Not necessarily. If the outline detracted from the character(s) or action than it should be left out. The cabinet is painted sharply in constrast with the rest of the background making it stand out from the background.

It still depends on the emphasis. The couch arm outlined because it will be interacted with. The outlined items in your first one helps emphasize the different scenes.
Personal preference likely used as well for asthetics.
Even in that one he extends the outline of the pool edge in front of king a fraction past the edge of his body, which makes it clear that it’s the outline of a foreground object.
