Ubuntu isn’t a “linux clone”. It’s Linux. Debian, to be precise.
Well actually, Ubuntu is a distribution (Or “Distro”) of Linux. Linux itself is just a core if you will, of all the distro’s. For eg, there’s Fedora, an enterprise oriented release, Ubuntu which is aimed towards home users and the distro I use, called CentOS which is widely regarded as the best for web servers.
If one were to simply dowload the linux core, you’d end up with a very lonely OS (if it was even able to boot) on your computer.

It’s okay guys don’ get all worked up on this matter. Yes Ubuntu is a “version” of Linux witch is based on UNIX. Yes it’s more usable for the normal users then other Linux “versions”, but although they have more potential in them than windows, but are still not as supported as windows.

I never do watch the History Channel, preferring Discovery Channel (and Mythbusters), as well as Animal Planet (It’s animal planet, how can it not be loved?)
The discovery channel can be pretty hilarious.
Did you see their TWO HOUR special on the whole “OMG WORLD ENDS ON 2012!!” thing? The narrator spent the entire time talking about how we’re all going to die, while the interviewees gave well thought out, fact-based, rational arguments that pretty well said that there is no way that the world is going to end then. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
I think it’s hilarious that people think the world is going to end because of some ancient calendar. I’m sure the Mayans would apologise for not making another one, if they were still around as a race instead of scattered remnants.

This era is the one the Mayans called “deep night,” where human conflict is raging and the world is at war. 2012 is supposed to be the year we start fixing everything. Not sure what that entails but that sounds good to me, I hope they were right.

Funny thing about 2012 is that according to the Mayan Calendar (Yes, the same one cospiracists [Is that a word?] use to call for the end of the world). That is the year when the cycle of the world enters the renewal stage (Age of Prosperity). The end of the Mayan Calendar was just the signal that the cycle has restarted (Yes I’m one of those conspiracist against the conspiracists).

What is fasinating is History Channel is good for future historians, so they can shift through the not so good stuff or even the terrible stuff, to find the good kernals of awesome shows!

It’s called rapidfiring. Each sentence is basically it’s own self-contained joke. By themselves, they’re not supposed to be that funny, but the succession of them is, shall we say, pure win. This is topped off with our favorite characters’ reactions.

See, us Canadians get ‘Space’ instead of ‘SciFi’, and in lieu of there being no new episodes, are airing the seasons 1-4 of the revived series once every night, usually. Quite enjoyable, actually. Gives us at least some Who to watch in the off season.

What did they do to the good shows? At least history channel shows WWII and military weaponry throughout the ages..and i don’t think sci-fi (sy-fy) was ever that good. CN had great cartoons, but then they went downhill because some of them retired and others were cancelled due to lawsuits, etc.
Hey why do they call “Cartoon Network” CARTOON Network when now they show shows that aren’t even “cartoon”? The last time I went to that channel they had this CN real thing with real people instead of cartoons?
So if “Cartoon Network” isn’t really about “cartoons” then what do you call it?

Not much different than MTV still calling itself “MTV” despite the fact that the “M” at least *used to* stand for “music”. It started off great, then they began playing garbage, then no music whatsoever.
The History Channel is also going off on tangents, like so many other cable channels. What in the world does “Ice Road Truckers” have to do with history and how does having a camera in a big rig with some whiny idiot equal interesting television? And to think, Time Warner continues to solicit me with “great offers” for the crap they air. No sir, not buying into it.

In defense of the History Channel “Modern Marvels” is still great, “Ice Road Truckers” is actually really good and “Pawn Stars” is surprisingly almost completely oriented towards be a history-themed program (think Antiques Roadshow with attitude).
However minus those three and the occasional historical-themed program clearly designed to tie into a new movie release yeah there is far too much of the crazy fanastic creatures, bibical end of the world and conspiracy theory stuff on the channel.

The first time I noticed Peanut’s signature in his comics (“PBS”) this was the first thing to come to mind. Oh, but I do harbor fond memories of a simpler time, when my television didn’t allot me dozens of channels to watch, and my options were few.
Also, I think Dalone may mean the same thing. Back before the household upgraded to basic cable.
I’m sorry but when something popular in the media comes out like “The Davinci Code”, History Channel loves to exploit its popularity by creating historical segments relating to the subject matter. Because there is some historical value in things like “Pirates of the Caribbean” or “2012″.
I recall a time after “300″ came out in theaters, History Channel had a segment dedicated to spartan soldiers because nothing says “This is SPARTA!” than a movie with violence and *cough* history *cough* all in one.

I don’t watch TV quite as much as I used to, and lately there’s only a handful of programming that will hold my attention. But sometimes- and that is to say on the very rare, almost surreal occasion- the television will be on, and I will happen to be in the same room, and it will be tuned to a certain documentary, or talk show, or reality show and I have to stop what I’m doing. I literally have to cease all other activity and use my entire body to stare in wonder…
… at how silly it is. Heh.

My mom likes watching things about angels and demons but I find it silly to be on a channel called ‘the history channel’.

Also, yeah, it’s annoying as hell how the History channel has become bloated with Psudoscience. Like 5 shows a day that start with the presuption that the Abrahamic religions are correct.
History Channel is a great channel! “Ice Road Truckers” and “Pawn Stars” can suck my balls but “Hitler’s Super Weapons” and all their WW2 documentaries are great, though “dog fights” can stop making it look like USA never lost an air fight in history!
It would be nice. Then, most (or at least many?) people who are bested in aerial combat are awful hard to interview. What with the deadness and all.
The rest are, of course, wins and close-calls. So balance is hard to find.
Unless they interview other wartime powers as well? I haven’t watched an episode for a while, so I don’t remember.
Don’t know why, but all the strips with a TV tag just look so adorable.

By the way, I feel the urge to say–in case anyone is too thick to actually get what’s going on here–Grape is bubbling with happiness because Peanut would rather 1) keep snuggling, and 2) not disturb her, and is willing to put up with hours of horror to do it. Panel 2 shows that Peanut indeed is not enjoying what is on the tele, and the dialogue from the announcer illustrates -just- how bad it’s going to get, and still he’s not disturbing her.

You guys are overlooking two facts:
- The angry-mannered ones (Grape) always hide their crushes under seven locks. See the farm section again ;3
- They’re stepbrothers, if you think about it ~
With pets, even direct siblings makes no difference.
Don’t you mean “step-siblings”? “Brothers” are only gender-directed, if they are both boys, it would make sense.
This would be confusing if you have a language that has the rule “Brothers” as the same meaning as “Siblings” (Spanish for example).
