Personally I like the “Calvin and Hobbes” stuff. Sort of a devotion to the BEST COMIC EVER!!! I would be nice to see this stuff occasionally throughout housepets in the future.
It was ok ; but I do agree with some that this last strip push it a little too far, most of it because the joke (not so much for the Cardboard box reference) was directly taken from C&H, this is nothing of a big deal , but I did feel a little left down because I was expecting something more original like the last two strips (wich were in reference to C&H but with ther own jokes (as far as Im consern))
I played similarly with a cardboard box when I was a little kid… C&H ripped it off me!!!
See my point? Besides I just remember a transformation machine and a time machine from C&H no teleports.
oh come on “a joke told slightly different is still the same joke” and that’s my point , the first two strips are about Peanut trying to live like C&H while this one is just a C&H joke , what happened with the Peanut and Grape factor ? What make this housepet and not Calvin and hobbes?

Some of us here haven’t read every single Calvin and Hobbs comic, that and its been forever since i did pick up one.
It doesn’t hurt to throw in a bit of plot every now and then, and I like the theme of “secret cat girlfriend/crush”. When there is something beyond the joke-a-day kind of thing, the reader will come back wanting to know what happens next.
Heck, I just like the fact that he posts rather frequently for webcomic artists. Do love the homage to the C&H. Hopefully people stop being so impatient… That’s for sure.
Calvin and Hobbes is awesome, Is was probably my introduction to art and what taught me how to read. But you need to space the C&H references out a little.

Personally, I like a mix of gag-a-day and storyline. Either way, I like this comic, and I would just like to see more of what you’ve been doing the entire time.
Also, and I think someone else noticed this as well, you do update regularly, so kudos to you.
1. The joke is funny no matter who did it “first.”
2. “Kid-friendly” does not equal “no romance.” If Rick was making, say, something for Seasame Street or Teletubbies, chances are, you wouldn’t be reading it. Romance does not an adult comic make. Plus, there are all KINDS of gags that can be pulled from cat-loves-dog scenes.
So shush.
